Butterscotch Update

I was recently contacted by a representative of Butterscotch, Louis Gregory. From the sounds of things, Butterscotch is doing really well and has been working hard to take beatboxing to the world. In case you don’t remember Butterscotch, you can check out her audition video on America’s Got Talent:

Louis Gregory said that Butterscotch has been working with director Ron Hightower(he did 2 Pac’s videos) and is shooting a video in LA. That should be pretty cool to see when that comes out. Butterscotch is also working with a producer named Gerald McCauley and she was even in studio with George Benson.

Uncle Louie music group has launched Butterscotch’s new website. You can listen to Butterscotch’s music (seems wrong to just call it music) on her website and it also had the following list of events for Butterscotch:
Friday, February 27, 2009 UNLV / Las Vegas, Nevada

Saturday, March 21, 2009 Janesville School / Janesville, California

Saturday, April 11, 2009 University Of Arizona / Arizona

Saturday, May 2, 2009 Music & Unity Festival / Sacramento, CA

Saturday, June 13, 2009 Performance Info TBA / Australia

Sunday, June 14, 2009 Performance Info TBA / Australia

Saturday, May 30, 2009 The Mayor’s City Council Meeting / Private Event

Yes, I know that the Las Vegas event has already past, but I left it on because I’m from Las Vegas and I was so upset when I didn’t hear about her performance until 2 days after the show. Oh well, I’m sure she’ll make it back to Las Vegas again.

You can download the Butterscotch EP on her website’s store. There’s an exclusive track download that’s only available through her website. The track is called “Time for Change.” I’m also told that Butterscotch’s music will be available for download on iTunes in April. Until then, you’ll have to download it from her website if you don’t want to wait.

I’ll probably do a follow up post in April once Butterscotch’s music is available on iTunes. Also, if you happen to go to any of Butterscotch’s events, please let us know and send us a writeup of the event or any pictures and/or videos of Butterscotch performing.

I really loved Butterscotch on the show and so it’s nice to see her doing well after being on America’s Got Talent.

AGT Flashback: Butterscotch’s Performances

Butterscotch is one of the most memorable performers from America’s Got Talent for me. I just really liked her personality and that she brought beatboxing into my world. I’d never really seen it like she did on the show. I had the same reaction as Piers when I first saw it. I’m still amazed by the sound one little girl can produce. Enjoy a flashback of Butterscotch on AGT.

Guessing the Surprise Guest Appearances in Las Vegas

America’s Got Talent announced that there would be special guest performers at the America’s Got Talent Las Vegas show. The question is who might those guest performers be. Here’s my projections:

Terry Fator – Just makes since. He’s right down the street. Only question is whether he’s allowed to under his contract with mirage
Bianca Ryan – She’s performing in Las Vegas already too. She’s be a crowd favorite to see again and could nearly walk over from the V theater.

I’d really enjoy seeing any of the trio Cas Haley, Julienne Irwin or Butterscotch. They’re all still performing too.

I’d also not be surprised at all if an act like the Quick Change artists or the dog routine (can’t remember his name, but he has a show in Vegas now too) as a nice little opening act or an act to give the winner of America’s Got Talent a break.

Outside of people from America’s Got Talent, how cool would it be if Elton John stopped by if Eli Mattson was the winner? What about Andrea Bocelli with Neal Boyd, Gladys Knight (who’s from Las Vegas too) with Queen Emily or Josh Groban with Donald Braswell. Any of an array of rappers could join Nuttin’ But Stringz and be quite the event.

Any other acts you’d like to see?

My Favorite Stars from Past America’s Got Talent

Cas Haley – A unique style that mixes so many

Terry Fator – I love how the Hoff complained about it being a ventriloquist.

Of course, he then blew people out of the water with an impersonation of Kermit’s “What a Wonderful World”

The Best Contortionist ever on America’s Got Talent. Plus, I give her bigger props for hitting the bulls eye at the end of her performance.

Bianca Ryan – I’m still always amazed that that sound comes out of such a little girl. It’s really something else. Props to her for getting to perform in “V” the Ulimate Variety show.

Julienne Irwin – I’ve loved this girl since she first performed. I’m not sure what it is about her. A nice mix of raw talent with humility. I think I first grew most fond of her when they asked where she usually sang and she said her bedroom.

Taylor Ware – The only time I’ve really enjoyed Yoddeling was hearing Taylor do it. Plus, I love that she learned it by going to the library.

Butterscotch – It’s amazing that those different sounds come out of her. The first time I heard her, I thought she had a background band.

And her original performance just blows me away.

Butterscotch on America’s Got Talent in Camo

I absolutely love Butterscotch on America’s Got Talent. Of course, that means I was completely ecstatic when she made it to the top 10 on America’s Got Talent. It is well deserved. If she didn’t make it, then I would have had to call America out for being complete idiots. Considering all of the reality TV that I watch this is the first person that I’ve ever actually taken time out of my day and voted for them. That’s saying something about her. I think Butterscotch is fantastic.

Here’s a look at Butterscotch’s semifinal performance. The one in Camo:

Butterscotch – International Female Beatbox Champion

I hope that Butterscotch gets hooked up with the right people who can really harness her talent and make her a star. She deserves it. Sure, a million dollars from America’s Got Talent is great, but this girl has a talent that could really do amazing things. I could see some incredible “duets” with some big name singers and Butterscotch doing all the instruments.

Here’s a nice beat box video of Butterscotch the International Female Beatbox champion (not sure who gave her that title)

Butterscotch – Peeping Tom Beat Box Girl @ Coachella 2007

Looks like Butterscotch from America’s Got Talent has been absolutely incredible for a while. Here’s an incredible beatbox performance from Coachella 2007. Many more videos like this to come.

Videos of America’s Got Talent Butterscotch

Butterscotch has to be one of the most talented individuals that has ever made it to America’s Got Talent. She is going to go somewhere special with her talent. She’s a beatboxer like none other I’ve ever seen. She’s also incredibly sexy. Sure she’s quiet and unassuming, but you can tell that she’s got a fire within her that’s really strong. Butterscotch honestly makes me want to learn more about beatboxing.

Here’s a video of Butterscotch making it to the Top 20 on America’s Got Talent

Butterscotch’s Second Round Beatboxing Performance on America’s Got Talent

Butterscotch Beatboxing in the First Round of America’s Got Talent

I can’t believe that she’s only 21 and as good as she’s doing at beatboxing. Looking back on these videos of Butterscotch beatboxing, I think her first round on America’s Got Talent was her best yet. She’s much sexier in the later performances, but she is really brilliant being able to beatbox and sing at the same time. I hope that Butterscotch wins America’s Got Talent.

Butterscotch on America’s Got Talent

I found this website that seems to be acting like they are Butterscotch’s website. I don’t think that it could be. Too many things that just don’t look right. I suggest not even looking at it since they can’t format it right in Firefox.

I will say that Butterscotch was completely unforgettable on America’s Got Talent tonight. She has an amazing talent to be able to sing and “play” the instruments at the same time. How can Butterscotch sing so beautifully and do a drum beat with her mouth. That’s something else. Well, that crappy website I listed above put this biography about Butterscotch. Not sure if this is really Butterscotch’s biography, but I assume they must have taken it from somewhere else.

Butterscotch grew up listening to Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin and was trained as a classical pianist. Now an 18 year-old graduate of Natomas Charter School of Performing and Fine Arts Academy, she creates and surrounds herself with all different genres of music. A musician since the age of five, she is proficient on instruments such as the piano, flute, saxophone, bass, guitar, and just recently started beat-boxing.

Butterscotch has participated in the Modern Young Artist Recital at CSUS, and she also attended the California State Summer School for the Arts. She was also part of the creation of the opening theme for the 2003 Jammies at the Mondavi Center. Butterscotch this year was part of “No Bands Land” at Natomas Charter School. She has been writing songs for two years now, and one of her songs “Endless Night” was featured on the school CD (Equal). Butterscotch is again included on this year’s school CD (Electric), with two songs.

Butterscotches first love is music, but she also participates in many areas of the arts. This year she starred in her school’s production of the Glass Menagerie, as Amanda Wingfield (the mother). She loves to draw sketches, take photographs and make short films. She plans to major in music next year at Sac State and wants to minor in theatre or history.

America’s Got Talent – Butterscotch for the Win

I must admit that the America’s Got Talent website totally sucks. It’s like a nearly total waste of time. It’s outdated and is missing a lot of information. Kind of ridiculous. They don’t even have their contestants listed.

Well, despite the website, I think that the show is quite entertaining. I think that Butterscotch should be the clear winner, but I wonder if the Hoff might have ruined her by saying that. I think Julienne Irwin is the next talented and wonderful. I might be a little biased in this respect because 1. she’s blonde and 2. she sings music I like. Kevin James had an incredibly poor performance tonight, but his previous performances were outstanding, unique and I hope he comes back just to see what else he has planned.

Biggest loser of tonight was definitely Kashif Memon. I think it’s ridiculous that they could even consider putting him in the top 20. Kashif’s biggest talent is making a fool of himself, looking like an idiot and liking it.
