Final 5 AGT Finalists

Time to take a look at the final 5 America’s Got Talent finalists and discuss what kind of chance each one has at making the top 5 (at least it looks like it’s going to go AGT top 10 and then AGT top 5).

Landon Swank – I agree with whichever judge made the comment about Landon needing one perfect trick to make it into the top 5. He’s still got an uphill battle since magicians have a challenge getting votes. However, he has the look and the presentation to make it happen. I’m a little doubtful he’s got a trick so good that he’ll blow our minds. However, I hope he surprises me. I also hope he brings back his fiance. Otherwise, I’m not voting for him.

Anna Graceman – This girl really reminds me of Bianca Ryan. She doesn’t have quite as big of a voice as Bianca did, but she’s got more soul in her voice. I like it a lot and I imagine America does too. I’ll peg this one on song choice. The right song and she could easily win. The wrong song choice and she might not make the top 5.

Smage Brothers Riding Shows – I have to admit that I was impressed with their last performance. I thought they’d plateaued last performance, but they somehow found some ways to do new tricks in such a confined space. The only thing that does partially annoy me is that the judges have been acting like this is a new act. Well, it’s not really. Haven’t they heard of Travis Pastrano and the Nitro Circus? It’s a much bigger show, but has even bigger tricks. That part aside, I’ll be interested to see what they can do to make the act better given the stage limitations.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. – I guess this is a pet peeve post. Landau does have the voice of Sinatra. However, he’s not even close to as smooth of a performer as Sinatra. That can’t really even be compared. Sinatra had both the voice and the moves. So, let’s settle down on the Sinatra references. This said, I bet there’s a bunch of Sinatra lovers that are viewers of the show. He’s a safe top 5 and very possibly a winner.

Silhouettes – I totally disagreed with the judges on this one. I thought the performance was interesting, unique, different and great to watch. The first half was really fascinating and you didn’t know what they’d do next. The second half with the globe could be refined a bit, but I was glad to see that they’re still providing something unique and interesting. With that said, they’ll need to find a way to blow us away again like they did when we first saw them or I think they won’t make the top 5.

America’s Got Talent Top 5 Prediction

Much liked we posted the Pure America’s Got Talent Top 10 prediction, here’s the Pure America’s Got Talent Top 5 prediction. The following prediction comes from 2621 votes recorded on our America’s Got Talent Top 10 poll.

Predicted America’s Got Talent Top 5:
Donald Braswell received 1215 votes
Eli Mattson received 547 votes
Nuttin’ But Stringz received 237 votes
Neal Boyd received 177 votes
Kaitlyn Maher received 162 votes

America’s Got Talent Top 10 not making the AGT Top 5:
Jessica Price received 106 votes
Queen Emily received 84 votes
Joseph Hall received 45 votes
The Wright Kids received 29 votes
Paul Salos received 19 votes

In full disclosure, this is not a scientific poll by any means. This is definitely swayed by the type of traffic that is sent to Pure America’s Got Talent. For example, someone who finds this site searching for Nuttin’ But Stringz is probably more likely to vote for them. However, you could also argue that the more people searching google for Eli Mattson the more likely he is to win America’s Got Talent since after all America’s Got Talent is in large part a popularity contest.

Also, I should note that the comments on this blog have been smothered by fans of Donald Braswell. I think you can see that reflected in the voting results above. All of that said, I think Donald Braswell should make it into the Top 5 even if this poll is a little swayed.

I should also comment on a very personal note that it’s very sad for me to post that Jessica Price is predicted to be in the bottom 5. I’m normally very happy when my website predicts the results of a reality TV show. This might be one of the first times I hope that the predictions above are wrong.

America’s Got Talent Top 10 Performances

Check out the videos from last night’s America’s Got Talent top 10 performances. Season 3 has been quite entertaining. Dominated by singers, but I still really enjoyed the entertainment value of them all.

Read my full review of America’s Got Talent top 10. Also, make sure you go and buy your tickets for America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Winner’s show.

America’s Got Talent Top 10 Performance Show

It looks like it’s going to take about a day before I’ll be able to post the videos from America’s Got Talent top 10 performance show. However, there’s no need for me to delay in posting my thoughts about the performances.
Best Performances of the Night
Jessica Price – I admit I’m a little biased towards Jessica, but who can argue about that performance. Beauty, grace a wonderful set and just raw talent singing on stage.
Queen Emily – Just like Gladys Knight graced the Las Vegas strip for so many years, I could see Queen Emily doing the same.
The Wright Kids – There’s a wonderful innocence about these 3 that just makes me watch and smile. Tonight was no different. I also love how at the end they totally highlighted the little one spinning the bass.

Disappointing Performances of the Night
Nuttin’ But Stringz – I normally love these guys, but when you’re competing for 1 million dollars you have to stick to your best stuff. Still better than the other performances listed below, but not up to their previous performances.
Eli Mattson – His piano work was good and singing still excellent, but it seemed like a really poor song choice. Of all the famous Elton John pieces he chose that one? I expected something a little bit more from him.
Donald Braswell – This guy always chooses good songs and I think that’s why he’s gotten this far. I’m sad to say, but the Hoff was right in the video montage. Donald doesn’t connect with the audience. I’d buy a CD, but I wouldn’t want to see him perform in a show in Las Vegas.
Neal Boyd – Another poor song choice. Sounded too high for him and didn’t showcase his vocal talent very well.

Unremarkable Performances of the Night
Joseph Hall – The crowd was more entertaining than him. Watching the crowd go wild made me laugh, but that’s about it. Unfortunately, I’m from Las Vegas and there’s too many Elvis in Las Vegas already.
Kaitlyn Maher – She finally had some movement. She sang as she walked out on stage. Piers said it all.
Paul Salos – I think I was a little distracted by Paul’s song choice since it was the same song that Indigo (sp?) had slaughtered in their audition.

Of course, these are just my observations of this performance. Not necessarily for the entire show and not necessarily who I think will be going home tomorrow. I’ll save that for another post tomorrow.

UPDATE: Someone who claims to be a friend of the family commented on another post that “Kaitlyn was very sick this week with a very bad cold and had lost her voice right up until just before the show. She was still excited about singing for everyone and did a great job even with the larygitis.”

I’m not sure that it changes my opinion of her, but she did do very well since I didn’t really notice any major difference than usual.

Nuttin’ But Stringz Already Professional Too

I figured it was only fair for me to call out Nuttin’ But Stringz for being professional since I did the same to Donald Braswell. I’m certain that all the Nuttin’ But Stringz fans will be coming for a visit real soon to let me know how wrong I am, but when I learn that someone has already been highly successful it takes a little bit of the luster away from them.

To Nuttin’ But Stringz’s credit, the show never has portrayed them as amateurs. However, they are definitely professionals in their art. Have they made it huge yet, no. Although, here’s a few excerpts from the official Nuttin’ But Stringz website that gives you some background on some of the things they’ve done:

Tourie and Damien, studied at the Juliard School of Music and Bloomingdale School of Music and have taken their mastered skill to startling heights to include the world famous Apollo Theatre, Jay Leno Show, and Ellen Show just to name a few.

Also, Nuttin’ But Stringz’s “Stuggle from the Subway to the Charts” debuted at #3 on Japan’s Billboard Charts. Sounds like a lot of success to me.

All of this said, I don’t have any problem with Nuttin’ But Stringz wins America’s Got Talent. They absolutely have talent, but let’s not hear about an underdog story.

Below you’ll find a list of the songs from Nuttin’ But Stringz’s album “Struggle from the Subway to the Charts” with links to buy Nuttin’ But Stringz’s music on iTunes.

Kaitlyn Maher Before America’s Got Talent

Kaitlyn Maher is an extraordinary young lady. She is very accomplished having performed in over 100 concerts throughout the US. She was trained by some of the finest singers in the world in America’s elite musical institutions. Kaitlyn has put out a number of CDs and is one of radio’s favorite singers. She has 3 platinum albums that reached number one on the charts.

Oh wait…she’s only 4 years old.

Here’s her actual biography:

Kaitlyn Maher once received a gold star from her pre-school teacher for a picture that was hardly recognizable. Her mother couldn’t be happier, because Kaitlyn finally remembers to flush the toilet after using it. Kaitlyn once ate her whole dinner without her parents having to nag her once. Quite amazing if I do say so myself.

Kaitlyn has watched hundreds of hours of Disney videos where she would sing along to the likes of Ariel, Jasmine, and Nala (Simba’s girlfiend in Lion King in case you forgot). She could also be found honing her musical talents to Barney’s Sing Along (much to her father’s chagrin).

Kaitlyn Maher has spent many hours performing on stage (at least that’s what she calls the chair in her home) to a large audience of teddy bears and baby dolls.

Best of Luck Kaitlyn Maher and Congratulations on making it to the America’s Got Talent top 10!
