Condolences to Evie Clair and her Family
I’m sure I speak for all AGT fans in sending condolences to Evie Clair and her family on her father’s passing today. Evie posted a tribute on her Instagram and her mother has been frequently updating a blog sharing information about his condition and how the family is doing (credit to her for the photo below). I’m very glad Evie was able to get home in time to be there for his final hours, and that she has a few days off before having to head back to Hollywood to prepare for the Finals. (Some fans have speculated she won’t return to AGT, but based on the information her mother has shared on the blog I think she will.)
If you are able, I’m sure Evie and her family would really appreciate a donation to the GoFundMe campaign set up to help cover the cost of the cancer treatments.
Oh, that’s so sad for her and her family. I’m glad her father got to see her perform live though.
Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to mention this in my first one.
But I really come the finals, the AGT producers treat Evie and her family with respect.
AGT is branded as a “feel good” kind of show and I haven’t seen them exploit things for drama all that much. Hyping up emotional backstories and incorporating “dramatic effect” whenever possible, yes, but they don’t seem to go out of their way to get any of the contestants to “break” like they do on other shows. They handled Brandon’s passing earlier this season tastefully and edited him out of his Judge Cuts episode so they didn’t have to focus on the drama. I imagine this is going to be the main focus of her segment in the Finals-especially because it’s been the whole focus of her “storyline” all season-but knowing AGT show her song will probably be presented as a celebratory tribute of his life, not as a tactic to make her cry on camera (which I’ve seen other reality shows do).
That’s true, they did handle Brandon’s passing respectfully.
The only other competition I watch is DWTS. And they are really bad about handling things tastefully.
DWTS is exactly which show I was referring to about the tactics for a reaction thing. đŸ˜› There are some shows that handle these things well (AGT, Survivor) and some that don’t (DWTS, Big Brother).
