PureAGT Season 8 – Roster for 2nd Semifinal Airing September 3
Here’s the semifinalists performing next week:
Kenichi Ebina
Jimmy Rose
Marty Brown
Chicago Boyz
D’Angelo & Amanda
John Wing
Timber Brown
Branden James
American Military Spouses Choir
Anna Christine
Kristef Brothers*
Leon Etienne & Romy Low (Howard’s wild card pick)
*pending healing of the injury Kris sustained while rehearsing for this week’s semifinal.
The one major threat I see to Forte’s apparent monopoly on the win this season? Kenichi Ebina. If he can pull off something as cool as what he did in the quarterfinals, I think he’s gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Other standouts? I’m guessing Jimmy Rose, Timber Brown, D’Angelo & Amanda, and I’m tentatively going to say the Chicago Boyz & Kristef Brothers, who both have injuries to contend with (one of the Chicago Boyz broke his leg in the 3rd quarterfinal, and obviously Kris from Kristef is still recovering from the injury he sustained this week). As I said in my spoilers post, I think Leon & Romy don’t stand a chance; I also keep forgetting that Anna Christine is even in this competition, and think Marty Brown’s weaknesses are really going to show next to Jimmy Rose, much the same way that Jonathan Allen’s did next to Forte. And speaking of opera – so help me god, Branden James better NOT make the top 12…most overrated act this season, IMO.
So who do you guys think will be the ones to watch next week? And what do you think of Howard’s wild card pick?
Leon and Romy were Howard’s wild card pick??!! Seriously WTH?!!
Naturally I think FORTE will be hard to beat and the next on the list of contenders of course Knichi. But he will be hard pressed to top his last performance. I like Cami a lot and think she has no doubt launched her career heee on AGT. There are of course some other great acts that shouldn’t be counted out either.
AND…. my top pick for the spoiler is Anna Christine Nichols and here’s why. This young girl has some hellacious song writing skills to go with talents both on musical instruments and that extremely soulful and mature voice. AGT isn’t letting this be known, but they’ve pulled in an all star cast of coaches and teachers to help this girl out.
According to some reports the people in the sound booth got an earful for not being on the board, while she performed last time. Which is why the backing track got off….. Christine’s pace. Remember as a singer, if it was live accompaniment, it would have been following her lead. This is precisely why original artists command so much money and respect.
So I’m going to go out on a limb here and say as far as Anna Christine goes, AGT will supply a prolific pianist with talent to match Ann’s original song debut on National Television. If all the work done these last few weeks in the background pay off, whe will literally shock the World with this next performance. You can bet we’ll see one of her top fans in the business, Debbie Gibson wishing her the bet along with unnamed other celebrities, who are just as impressed as her on their feet and I’ll predict right now, that she at least makes it into the Finals!
Well good to see you aren’t riding any BS hype trains here. Kanye West writes all of his own songs too, but by no means is he talented. The one thing I do buy is that Anna has the longest layoff of the season so she’s probably cooking up something good. Also, can we stop for a second to take in how awesome of a name Kris Kristef is?
OK done with that. Kenichi is already a lock to move through, I think. Even if he bombed it people will vote for what they’ve already seen. Injuries have never really had an impact on the competition before, but I thought CB and Kristef were contenders. In my personal rankings, I have them sandwiched between Kenichi & Forte and Taylor on my finals depth chart. Howard blew his WC pick. I’m not even sure that’s a debatable opinion, but more of a given fact. Mitsi is the most underrated act this season because they aren’t flashy and on the edge of your seat enough for Vegas, but they’re incredibly talented. Timber has also been flying under the radar this season, and barring a world beating performance from somebody else he’s going through. AMSC somehow ended up being the best choir in the contest. They’re in too. Jimmy will get in because country wants representation. Courtney, is there a round between the top 12 and the finals or does it go directly to them?
I feel that this certainly is a tough one to call. I agree that the Illusionists don’t stand a chance, well played Howard. And with their quarterfinal performance in mind, it seems to me that D’Angelo & Amanda have big shoes to fill, and I don’t know if they can actually fill them. I say this because the entertainment value of their quarterfinal act seemed to heavily revolve around the serious but still energetic genre that they chose because it kept the audience’s attention all the way through. If D’Angelo & Amanda choose to do something more lighthearted this time around, then I think voters may get bored with it just like they did with Hype and Ruby & Jonas. As for the AMSC, I’m hoping that the judges will start to notice how average this choir really is, because this is around the point in the competition where the singers that simply don’t have the vocal skills they need start dropping like flies. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if this group gets to the top 12 by pulling America’s heartstrings because honestly, they’ve done it before. And then there’s the two country singers. Now, I feel these two are a bit more evenly matched than Jonathan Allen and Forte were. I would say that Marty Brown has been going downhill since his audition, but the judge’s weren’t too crazy about Jimmy Rose during the quarterfinals, so I feel this could go either way. However, because of how large the AGT country crowd is, I assume that at least one of them will advance. Like I said, this line up is a tough call, so I guess I’ll reserve any actual predictions until that very night, but I think I can say for certain that this night will certainly be a whole lot better than this last semifinal round.
i think kenichi, chicago boyz, kristef, and timber are the real heavy hitters. i think d’angelo and amanda, amsc, john wing and anna christine are doomed. although i perfer jimmy over marty i think the latter could make a comeback. howard why did you bring back an act that you buzzed and hated, they have no chance what so ever and we already have a magican in the top 12! we don’t need another. courtney, don’t worry about branden james making it into the top 12 because if he does forte are gonna kick his b-double-oty!
Leon and Romy? What a waste!!!
To commenter #3 – his name isn’t actually Kris Kristef, it’s Kristofer Saly which isn’t quite as spectacular. Kristef = Kristofer and Stefan combined. Kind of odd that two guys put their names together but yeah. I really hope they’ll be on this week. If they are, hopefully that nasty injury won’t affect the performance too much.
Well Alex, at least we still have a tree climber named Timber,
True. I still can’t decide if Timber is an amazing name or a horrible one.
Kenichi will definitly go through. Probably Timber Brown and the KriStef Brothers too. I think the Chicago Boyz are the most underestimated act right now. I think they can win the whole show. I hope they do. As for the other 2 spots, probably Branden James and Justin Rose. Maybe D’Angelo and Amanda.
the kristef brothers will be performing tomorrow! yay!
where’s your blog about last night!
C’mon! I’ve been waiting for the semifinals power rankings! Please upload!
Courtney also runs the pureDWTS blog, so I suspect things are getting busy for her. So we’ll just have to be patient.
