America’s Got Talent 2011
This was a show I always looked forward to, and enjoyed. Tonight, Tuesday 6/5, I noticed also on an earlier 2011 show – it seems contention between Piers and Howie are being enlarged upon, probably because of thinking this will gain popularity for the show. I am someone who is NOT impressed, these ‘scuffles’ are boorish and when an hour is devoted to people seeking their moment in fame – the show elaborates on their really bad acts, and the friction between Piers and Howie, at least with me, does not even draw a chuckle. How sad you see it fun to see people singing offkey, and the acts that ‘move on to Vegas’ get about 30 second exposure. I think your priorities are mixed up, and I know I shut off the tv before end of show. This show always displayed people who genuinely felt they had talent, which I went along with because every once in a while you had a ‘diamond in the rough’. If you feel this new presentation of the shows will draw fans, but, for myself, I will NOT WASTE MY TIME!! Flo Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Flo,
I agree that they let it go too far. I loved the battle between Piers and Howie before, but this was too much for me. Killed the fun of the show a bit for me.
I think Piers may have his ego tarnished a bit with Howie on the show. This show was getting somewhat stale and Howie has breathed new life into it. Hes funny, hes watchable, and hes the perfect character to round out the judges table.
With that said, I do agree with everyone the antics are just going too far. Really, Piers running off the set like a big baby…… Judges, Lets see the talent please!!
I got a major laugh out of the sword fight, but I can see how the others feel. As for the people that made it through…
Week 2, Day 1
Melissa Villasenor (Impressionist): It was enjoyable and she’s got a cute, quirky look to her.
-Vegas Week: Might make it past, especially since it’s very hard for comedians to get to Vegas and there usually isn’t much competition in this round.
ZumaZuma (Acrobatic Troupe): That was so amazing and I love how they included jump-rope and contortion into it.
-Vegas Week: I could definitely see them going on.
Poplyfe (Band): I agree with Piers on this one on the lead being better than the rest and could work without them. But I’d let them through just to see if they could do without the acoustics.
-Vegas Week: Depends how good the rest of the members are and if not, there might be a painful choice to be made for the singer.
The Daring Jones Duo (Areal Artist): Pretty good from what little I saw.
-Vegas Week: Depends how good they do and if they can kick it up a notch.
Sadie (child singer): Better than I thought she’d be.
-Vegas Week: Child singers have a fairly good chance of getting through, if next week is any indication, she’s going to have quite a bit of competition.
The Elektrolytes (Dance Crew): It was pretty nice though America’s Best Dance Crew has kinda spoiled me.
-Vegas Week: I’m not so sure.
Mauricio Herrera (Showman): He’s got a fun, likable energy, but I’m not sure if I would’ve put him through.
-Vegas Week: Could go either way, but it’s leaning on no.
