Turns Out Opera Singer Cindy Chang is a Seasoned Pro?

Ok, I had to use that special title with the word “opera” since I know long time reader Kitty will love it. I’ll start out by saying that Cindy Chang is not an opera singer. Plus, I don’t know why they were acting like they were blown away. Seriously? I thought she was one of the worst “operatic” sounding voices that I’ve heard on the show. At least ones that they put through to Vegas. Was I missing something? In case you didn’t catch it, her audition video is below.

Cindy Chang’s Operatic Audition

Turns out she’s also a bit of a fake. AGT News wrote an article talking about Cindy Chang’s real background. Turns out there might be more to Cindy Chang’s story than what she let on. She’s been singing for quite a while and has an agent.

Of course, this isn’t really news for anyone that’s been reading this site for a while. Many past contestants had stories told for them (I give the producers credit for not telling the full story) on America’s Got Talent that weren’t completely true. It’s not really that big of a deal to me. Although, some people won’t like the fakeness of it all.

Either way, I didn’t like Cindy Chang’s singing before I knew that she had more experience than she let on, so I don’t like her any more or less now. Although, her random laughing was pretty funny to watch.

Another Star on America’s Got Talent – Taylor Davis

You can probably tell that I’ve stopped covering all of the people on America’s Got Talent. I’m only going to cover the ones that I think are stars. Maybe that will change over time, but I think this is the best path forward for now. This one was a hard one to judge for sure since they didn’t show his full America’s Got Talent audition. However, I think that Taylor Davis is going to be awesome in Las Vegas. Plus, he’s got the look of an underdog story. America loves underdogs.

Anna Graceman Auditions on America’s Got Talent – Finally a Star

This year has been a bit of a disappointment for me. The show has been entertaining. The acts have been eclectic and provided a good laugh here and there, but I really haven’t seen many (if any) stars go across the stage yet. Think back on the past episodes and think if there are any acts that you just absolutely can’t wait to see again. I really don’t have that many.

Although last night’s Anna Graceman Audition might be the exception. When I saw the early clip of her, I was thinking I wouldn’t like her that much. She didn’t seem to have as good of a voice as say a Bianca Ryan who was also a BIG voice in a little body. However, Anna Graceman had a great performance and her personality on stage matched her performance. To me, she’s likely one of the only acts I can’t wait to see again on AGT 2011 Vegas Week.

Here’s a video of Anna Graceman’s audition in case you missed it:

More America’s Got Talent 2011 Las Vegas Discussion

Yaoi Huntress Earth has again provided commentary on the various acts from last night’s episode of America’s Got Talent that made it to Las Vegas and a few others. Here’s her write up:
Alaska (I laughed when he taught them how to do the “Alaska Dance”) and Marylee.

Geechy Guy: (Comedian) He was pretty good, more hits than misses. And his silly energy that works for him.
Vegas Week: I think he could make it unless they’re only letting one comedian in. If so he probably won’t when compared to the impressionist.

Illumni Men’s Chorale: Great twist on chorus music.
Vegas Week: Good chance on making it to the Top 40.

Soleil Rousseau: (Dancer) I respect pole dancing in a more artistic way and it was decent.
Vegas Week: Don’t think she’ll go any further.

Seth Grabel: (Magician) My new favorite for the magicians; he’s rather unique.
Vegas Week: Out of all the magicians auditioning now, I see him as the most likely to make it to the Top 40.

The BGP: (Band) I agree with Sharon, they need to find their own identity. Other wise they’re pretty good.
Vegas Week: If they can do that, it’s a very good chance.

The Art of Teknique: (Dancers) The best of the child acts so far.
Vegas Week: They usually bring in at least one kid act and they could be it.

Now I just need to convince her to write more blog posts for Pure AGT.

Prospects for AGT Las Vegas Week per Yaoi Huntress Earth

Well, we’ve all been really busy here at Pure America’s Got Talent and so we haven’t been able to provide the commentary that we usually offer. However, Yaoi Huntress Earth has provided commentary in the comments of this post on the various day 2 acts potential in Las Vegas. Here’s her write up:

As for Day 2’s passed acts…

Echo of Animal Gardens (Animal Trainer): It was nice, but wasn’t there another bird act earlier?
Vegas Week: She’s going to have to do more if she wants to go farther. The parrot singing alone isn’t going to cut it as a Vegas act.

Mrs. Smith (Performance Artist): Sorta reminds me of Mary Ellen except with some talent and is a lot less painful on the eyes. Not a bad guitarist.
Vegas Week: Unless she can expand what she does, I don’t see her going beyond that. I’ll be interested to see what Peirs thinks.

Saint Luke’s Bottle Band (Bottle Band): Fun just for how odd they are. I would like to see them take on some more contemporary stuff next time.
Vegas Week: Their novelty might get them into the Top 40, especially if they can do a variety of music.

Lys Agnes (Opera Singer): I normally have a problem with singer who could compete on any generic singing show appearing on this one, but I’ll admit she’s really good and very pretty (just love her hair).
Vegas Week: Unless she really screws up, she’s a shoe-in for the Top 40.

The Midget Dancer: As much as I like midgets, I wouldn’t have put her through.
Vegas Week: I predict Vegas Week will be where it ends.

Those Funny Little People (Variety Act): They remind me of the Zupper Stars. Cute in a creepy way for a little while, but then I wanted to see them do more. Though it was funny when they were tormenting Piers.
Vegas Week: It could go either way.

The Silhouettes (Dancers): That was beautiful and one of the best auditions I’ve seen this year.
Vegas Week: They’ll pass and if they do what they did last year with giving ten acts an automatic slot, I could see them getting it.

The Kinetic King: That was very unique and fun, but I wonder how he’d sustain a show or top that.
Vegas Week: About a 70% chance of going through.

America’s Got Talent 2011 – Dani Shay, Lys Agnes, and The Silhouettes!

These have to be some of the best auditions this season. I enjoyed all 3 of these acts on AGT 2011.

Ep 603: Dani Shay (Justin Bieber like)
Watch Dani perform a special song in honor of the musician she resembles.

Ep 603: Lys Agnes Lights Up the Stage
Lys performs a stirring rendition of “Ave Maria.

Ep 604: See The Silhouettes!
You’ve never seen a dance troupe use shadows like this before!
