Donald Braswell Update – Las Vegas Show, New Beginnings Tour and PBS Special
I figured it was about time to do an update on one of the fan favorites from America’s Got Talent: Donald Braswell.
Donald has been incredibly busy following what I’m told was a sold out concert at the Hilton in Las Vegas. Makes me really happy to see Donald as a success. I certainly took my fair share of shots at Donald during the show. What can I say? I thought he was a little disingenuous to say he hadn’t been on a professional stage before AGT. I think I also preferred Eli Mattson‘s style a little bit better. However, one thing I never argues was whether Donald Braswell had talent or not. He absolutely has talent and I’m glad that America’s embracing someone who actually entertains with talent.
Well, turns out America loves Donald more than I ever thought they would. Check out what the Las Vegas Sun said about Donald Braswell and PBS.
PBS is doing a special on Braswell. Camera crews have been following him around since his appearance on the TV show.
“They felt I was an artist who could take things to a different level, inspiring audiences as well as entertaining them,” he says.
Braswell says the special first will be seen March 15 in five East Coast states and Canada as a test.
“If that is successful I will perform at the Detroit Opera House with a full orchestra for the entire United States and Canada,” he says. “That’s an exciting pro
A PBS special is really cool. I have a feeling that Donald Braswell will be really successful on PBS. I hope someone posts it online so we can all enjoy Donald on PBS.
Also, Donald Braswell will be on the New Beginnings Tour. Only one tour date has been announced for Donald, but I’m sure that more will be posted on Ticketmaster as they announce new locations. Here’s the first stop of the New Beginnings Tour:
Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, Asheville, N.C: Mar 21st 8pm, address is 87 Haywood St. Prices are $23 for balcony seating and $33 for the floor seating. Tickets are available starting 10am Jan 20th on
www.ticketmaster.com and all the other shows for the New Beginnings tour will be updated as they are added.
I also want to thank all the fans at the Donald Braswell Fan club that have kept me informed about Donald. They are certainly true fans that any artist would be proud to have. Hopefully in the future they’ll share even more information about what’s happening with the Donald. I’m really hoping he returns to Las Vegas so I can see him this time.
Thank you very much for your interesting article on Donald Braswell, it’s really great to hear about his upcoming New Beginnings Tour and also about the PBS Special he has planned. He was by FAR my favorite contestant on America’s Got Talent and I was so hoping he would win, but coming in 4th out of so many was still pretty fantastic.
Thank you, too, for being generous enough to admit that you have had a change of heart about the man. That AGT “hype” was often inaccurate, for example they said he had “severed his vocal chords” which was obviously not true although his throat was badly damaged and he couldn’t speak for years (or sing!). He really is a very decent person and not the slightest bit “disingenuos”. He put on a concert for the benefit of the homeless in San Antonio a few weeks ago, he got his whole family to participate, Mother, wife, even the kids who can all sing too, and all the proceeds were donated to the SAMMinistries who provide food for the homeless. I was lucky enough to attend and got to meet him afterwards, and it was a fabulous show. I hope you get a chance to see him performing in person one day, he’s an extraordinary talent as well as being a really lovely human being. Thank you.
Thanks for this update, John! And thanks too for mentioning the upcoming concerts as well as his Fan Club. We’ve grown into a tight-knit family and it’s all because of Donald. We have fans who have traveled across the country (even across international boundaries) to see Donald in concert, and several fans have attended almost every concert he’s given since AGT. And each time, they tell us, it’s a new and phenomenal experience.
We will definitely keep you updated on any new developments!
I was lucky enough to hear and meet Donald Braswell at the SAMMinistries benefit he did in San Antonio.
I drove over a thousand miles to hear him sing in person. He was sick with a stomach virus, but you would never know it from his performance. He stayed after the concert to sign autographs and have his picture taken with anyone who asked, even though he was not well. What a consummate professional he is.
If you have the opportunity to see him in Las Vegas again do not miss the chance to hear and perhaps meet this wonderful human being. You will not be sorry.
Donald showed so many more aspects of his talent in his Las Vegas show than anyone watching AGT would have suspected. He sang everything from Mack the Knife to Unchained Melody to Here I Am and even the most incredible version of Nights in White Satin. He did impressions; including Dean Martin singing Mambo Italiano and more. What dance moves! Every minute of the show was another surprise. He showed great humor and rapport with the audience on top of singing like no one else! I would go back to see Donald Braswell every time I am in Vegas and have already told everyone I know to do the same. We need to get him back for more! Vegas! Vegas! Vegas!
Hi John, Thank you so much for this new updated blog about Donald Braswell. All of his fans are so greatful to you and appreciate your support of him.
He is really a remarkable entertainer, but more important than that, he is a remarkable human being. He deserves all of the positive recognition he can get, and he is so greatful to his fans for all of the support we have given him. I hope that when he performs in Vegas again, that you will have the chance not only to attend his concert, but that you will take the opportunity to meet him afterwards and get to see the beautiful person that he is. I will continue to be a guest blogger and keep you apprized of the wonderful things that I am sure will be coming his way. Thanks again.

Thank you for the update John. It is nice to see you follow up. I often wonder what happens to the finalists after the show is over. Mr. Braswell has one of the most charismatic voices. I actually traveled from Idaho to Las Vegas just to see him in person. He is even better when left to his own production. His show made me cry, laugh uncontrollably, be serious, but above all very entertained. I am sorry you missed. I will travel there again to see him when he returns…
and Oh by the way….I may be wrong…but I do believe he said, “this is the first time on a professional stage since he got his voice back:…” paraphrased probably!!!
Thanks again for the UPDATE…hope to see more.

Dear John,
Thank you for all your kind words about Donald Braswell. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Braswell in Las Vegas and it was the best show I have every seen. I traveled from VA just to see this show. What a showman. His voice is a gift from up above with the power that digs right into your soul. He is the sweetest most humble man, what you see is what you get, can’t say that about many people. Move over Englebert, Tom Jones and all the others; Donald Braswell is on his way with a song in his heart and a sparkle in his eyes. The dream is coming true fast & furious. Thanks again.
John,
I echo everyone else in thanking you for spotlighting Donald. I have now seen him in concert a number of times, both his benefit concerts and his Las Vegas concert and others. Each time he has surprised me with his extraordinary versatility and charm. The others have mentions a number of his fabulous tunes from the Hilton show. His Elvis (Blue Suede Shoes) was phenomenal and had all our hearts pounding. He is truly one of the great entertainers of our time…more than on par with the other greats. There isn’t a song he can’t sing. Unchained Melody proved that. People said after AGT that they wouldn’t go see him in concert. Well, let me tell you, if they don’t they are REALLY missing something!! He is selling out his shows. One person said he could sing the telephone book and it would be a number one hit! He even writes his own compositions. “Look At Me” brought us all to tears. The amazing thing is how he can stay so humble when he has the best voice we’ve ever heard.
Warm Regards,
Cherie, Denver
Perhaps time for another update. I hear Donald Braswell has sung with the Kerrville Tx Symphony of the Hills..another sell out…and is in fact this fall sometime going to be singing with the Detroit Symphony….which is being taped for a full blown PBS Special in the spring sometime. Can you validate that???

[…] Queen Emily is in Las Vegas doing Menopause the musical. Donald Braswell has been doing shows, releasing records and even did an appearance on PBS. A little bit surprising to me is that I haven’t heard anything about what’s happened […]
