Nick Cannon Replaces Jerry Springer as Host of America’s Got Talent
Just hitting the wire is the announcement by NBC executives that Jerry Springer will not be hosting this summer’s season of America’s Got Talent. One release stated “The TV star said in a statement that he’s leaving the talent contest – which airs on NBC in the US – because of other commitments, including his syndicated talk show and a stage role.”
Replacing Jerry Springer will be musician, comedian, actor and producer Nick Cannon in what network chief Ben Silverman called the first of “multiple projects we are looking to do with Nick at NBC.”
I must admit that I really liked Nick Cannon on “Nick Cannon Presents Wild’n Out” and thought he did a good job with it. The good part about Nick Cannon is that I don’t think we’ll have to deal with much fake energy about someone who doesn’t have talent. Nick’s not going to tell someone they were good if they weren’t. That would ruin his image. He might end up saying nothing, but hopefully he’ll come up with some good questions and let them dig their own grave on the show.
Jerry Springer did an acceptable job even though a bunch of his stuff was so over the top it kind of got annoying. Nick Cannon should be able to avoid those annoyances and will be so much better than Regis Philbin was on the first season.
I also hope we get to see Nick Cannon do a little freestyle dancing backstage with some performers. Something like that would be a great little addition to either warm a performer up or to do a celebration dance with someone who just performed.
Looking forward to it Nick. Don’t let us down!
Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and David Hasslehoff are reportedly remaining as celebrity judges.
[…] be at the America’s Got Talent Chicago auditions. You might remember that we posted about Nick Cannon replacing Jerry Springer as America’s Got Talent host. If anyone is in Chicago and happens to snap a picture of them with Nick Cannon, I’d love to […]
Mr. Cannon,
How did you get this job as AGT host? Why did you make those snide and sarcastic comments right as Kevin Skinner was walking out on stage. What’s this snotty remark about a COUNTRY BOY? Don’t your people eat chicken? What do you think, that the chickens all stand in a line and say OK guys, now come and get me. Where do you think the chickens from —– Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Gucci or Sears. Maybe you think that they are manufactured from plastic pellets at the Pilgrim’s Pride Plant in Western KY. Kevin Skinner has a God given talent. He sings from his gut and not bad that he can play guitar just as well. And another thing not only can he sing better than most professional, phony, studio generated, plastic singers——– he’s a lot better looking than you Mr. Cannon. I saw the looks on those girls faces in the audience, and I know WHAT THEY WERE THINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t take that remark any further, {I tried to clean it up a bit as much as I can} but you get the idea. Kevin is the whole package, the real deal, the real McCoy. Don’t judge somebody if you have not walked in their shoes. He is real, humble and genuine. You just don’t see that anymore in our society anymore. By the way Abraham Lincoln and Daniel Boone were both from Kentucky.
It’s interesting you say that, because I didn’t think that Nick had any real ill intention. I think he said what a lot of America was thinking.
I really like Nick Cannon. Often I think he’s as interesting and funny as many of the acts.
Nick has got me watching the show, now. Before, I’d just hit and miss. I thinks he’s doing a good job and the show is better cause he’s on it.
