Guaranteed America’s Got Talent Las Vegas 2011 Storylines

Written by:

For those of you who are new to the America’s Got Talent franchise and maybe to reality TV in general, you have to remember that the producers are trying to produce a show. One way they do that is by producing storylines into the show. Last year for example, they made sure they had a number of harmonica players on the show. Of course, you knew they weren’t going to let that many harmonica players through to Las Vegas. However, it plays out well in Las Vegas to have 3 acts all doing harmonica and the judges choose which one is going to go through.

Maybe I’ve been writing about these shows for too long, but I’ve already seen a number of these storylines prepared for Las Vegas. Here’s some off the top of my head:

Motorcycles/Bikes
-The motorcycle trick brothers with the funky bikes that jumped over stuff and got close to their friend
-The motorcycle kids that drive around in the huge ball (a really old circus act that I remember first seeing as a kid at Circus Circus in Las Vegas and was amazed)
-The BMX bike guys who do tricks on the ramp

Kid Singers
This could really be done every season, but there are a number of kid singers that will compete this year. Some of these are likely to include PopLyfe, Anna Graceman, Dani Shay, etc.

Kid Wrappers/Dancers
Lil’ T Tanner, The Sh’Boss Boys and the other kid dance crew (can’t remember their names) fit this group.

Jugglers,
Seems like there were a lot of jugglers this year. Frank Oliver, Charles Peachock and Frank Miles.

Then, of course, we’re going to have the standard adult singers, the dance crews, magicians, and then the variety acts which will always be on the show.

Watch for these storylines to play out. They’re guaranteed to happen to night and only one act per category (maybe 2 for the singers) above is likely to make it through.

Also, I must admit in my previous post about lack of stars, I did forget to mention the girl that sings with PopLyfe. She definitely has star quality as well. Although, don’t be surprised if she has to make the tough decision to go alone or with her friends. She’s definitely the star.

2 Episodes of America’s Got Talent 2011 Tonight – Vegas Auditions Finally Here!

Written by:

One episode of tonight’s America’s Got Talent is at 8/7c and another at 9/8c. In fact, my TV guide says it’s going to be 3 hours of America’s Got Talent tonight. I’m alright by that. For some reason the auditions for America’s Got Talent have gone on really long this time. So long that I can barely remember some of the first acts that auditioned. Once we see them in Las Vegas we’ll barely remember who they were. Either way, now we’ll get to see the real fun in Las Vegas.

Prospects for AGT Las Vegas Week per Yaoi Huntress Earth

Written by:

Well, we’ve all been really busy here at Pure America’s Got Talent and so we haven’t been able to provide the commentary that we usually offer. However, Yaoi Huntress Earth has provided commentary in the comments of this post on the various day 2 acts potential in Las Vegas. Here’s her write up:

As for Day 2′s passed acts…

Echo of Animal Gardens (Animal Trainer): It was nice, but wasn’t there another bird act earlier?
Vegas Week: She’s going to have to do more if she wants to go farther. The parrot singing alone isn’t going to cut it as a Vegas act.

Mrs. Smith (Performance Artist): Sorta reminds me of Mary Ellen except with some talent and is a lot less painful on the eyes. Not a bad guitarist.
Vegas Week: Unless she can expand what she does, I don’t see her going beyond that. I’ll be interested to see what Peirs thinks.

Saint Luke’s Bottle Band (Bottle Band): Fun just for how odd they are. I would like to see them take on some more contemporary stuff next time.
Vegas Week: Their novelty might get them into the Top 40, especially if they can do a variety of music.

Lys Agnes (Opera Singer): I normally have a problem with singer who could compete on any generic singing show appearing on this one, but I’ll admit she’s really good and very pretty (just love her hair).
Vegas Week: Unless she really screws up, she’s a shoe-in for the Top 40.

The Midget Dancer: As much as I like midgets, I wouldn’t have put her through.
Vegas Week: I predict Vegas Week will be where it ends.

Those Funny Little People (Variety Act): They remind me of the Zupper Stars. Cute in a creepy way for a little while, but then I wanted to see them do more. Though it was funny when they were tormenting Piers.
Vegas Week: It could go either way.

The Silhouettes (Dancers): That was beautiful and one of the best auditions I’ve seen this year.
Vegas Week: They’ll pass and if they do what they did last year with giving ten acts an automatic slot, I could see them getting it.

The Kinetic King: That was very unique and fun, but I wonder how he’d sustain a show or top that.
Vegas Week: About a 70% chance of going through.

Let’s Stop the “Will This Act Work in Vegas?” Line

Written by:

I think it’s lame that the judges mention that they need to carry on a show in Las Vegas. I think this is by design, but they need to stop it and find a new line. First of all, why should they hold the act to this standard. It’s not like they are really getting a headline show in Las Vegas if they win. I live in Las Vegas and I never saw Kevin Skinner’s name on any billboards or any headlines.

Plus, if this is the standard, then half of the top 48 wouldn’t be there. The might be extremely talented, but they don’t stand a chance of having a show in Las Vegas. Plus, the show wants to have a nice variety of talent. This stands in opposition to the idea of finding the best Las Vegas act. So, you can’t have it both ways.

I like in Britain’s Got Talent where they get to perform for the Queen. Works out much better I think. It’s a great story and provides for the variety of acts that the show wants. Especially since it’s the Queen’s Royal Variety show.

America’s Got Talent needs to find a new line. It’s just never fit very well.

America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Set Video

Written by:

I was really lucky to get the chance to be at the Live taping of the America’s Got Talent Las Vegas auditions. Of course, they swore me to secrecy, but shortly I’ll be able to reveal various things that I saw and heard at the auditions. I just wish I could have gone to more of it.

That said, I did get this short video of the America’s Got Talent Las Vegas set that I thought readers of this site would enjoy. No spoilers in this video. I don’t want to get in trouble and I want to be able to go in the future. However, it will give you a feel for what it looks like.

Plus, the place that I shot the video was actually where the family of the acts would sit and watch their family members perform. They were sworn to silence during the taping (as was I), but you could see the emotions on the families faces and in their reactions. I’ll tell more about this once you see some of the AGT Las Vegas acts. Enjoy the video:

America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Auditions

Written by:

I’m really excited, because I just got word that I’m going to be able to attend the taping of the America’s Got Talent Las Vegas auditions. This is huge since obviously the Las Vegas auditions are closed to the general public. Of course, they’re going to have me on a strict gag order (or something like that) as far as who’s made it to Las Vegas and who goes on to Hollywood. However, I don’t think that most of you would want me to tell you that information anyway since it would ruin the anticipation.

What I will be able to tell you is general feelings of what to expect. They types of judges reactions. Plus, after the fact I can probably tell you things that hit the cutting room floor. It should be interesting to see the process first hand.

The other cool part is that they think they’ll be able to get me an interview with one of the judges. That should be a lot of fun. If all goes well, I’ll do a video interview and be able to post it on here before the show even starts.

On that note, if you have a question you’d like to ask the judges, leave me a comment and I’ll see if I can ask if during my interview.

America’s Got Talent 2009 Las Vegas Show – Planet Hollywood Casino

Written by:

I’m incredibly excited that tickets for the America’s Got Talent 2009 Las Vegas show are on sale now. The show is going to be at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and I absolutely love that venue. I’ve been to a couple shows there and it’s a great time.

The biggest surprise is that last season’s America’s Got Talent winner only got 1 show in Las Vegas. This year’s AGT winner has 60 Las Vegas shows listed on ticketmaster. The America’s Got Talent Las Vegas shows start on 10/7/09 and run through 12/13/09. That’s a nice little run in Las Vegas.

Here are the details of the AGT Las Vegas show:
America’s Got Talent 2009 Live – Purchase Tickets
Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, NV
Oct 7, 2009 – Dec 13, 2009

Eli Mattson Performs Walking in Memphis at Las Vegas Show

Written by:

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted on this site. I’ve had a ton of things to say, but I just needed a little break after the show. Time to start kicking back into gear. The next season’s auditions will be starting soon and I’m planning on covering Britain’s Got Talent if possible too.

Enough about me. I think that most people would have to agree that Eli Mattson’s version of Walking in MemphisMarc Cohn - The Very Best of Marc Cohn - Walking In Memphis was one of (if not the) best performance on this year’s season of America’s Got Talent. Here’s Eli Mattson performing Walking in Memphis at the America’s Got Talent Las Vegas show:

Not the best video quality, but it was fun to remember how good Eli Mattson really was. He has a very nice voice and I hope he produces a CD really soon.
