Tomorrow is the last day for the live auditions. Houston will be wrapping things up tomorrow (see the official AGT website for details). However, all is not lost if you are someone who wants to still get in on America’s Got Talent 2009. Check out the following video they just put out from Nick Cannon talking about America’s Got Talent’s partnership with MySpace.
Here’s the link to America’s Got Talent on Myspace. I like this option since the internet is universal and so everyone can enter regardless of where they live.
I also got the following email from America’s Got Talent that talks about their online video submission entry form (DISCLAIMER: This is a fan site and does not officially represent America’s Got Talent, Fremantle Media or NBC). The following email is just what I received in my inbox from the show. Take it for what it’s worth. It is cool to note that the email says they’ll watch every video submission. Nice to see that in writing.
DISCLAIMER: If you have auditioned in person, submitted a DVD or uploaded a video from September 2008 until now, please disregard this email. This will be the last communication you receive by email for the America’s Got Talent 2009 season.

For those wondering why I got an email saying “We’ve enjoyed seeing talented acts from across the nation perform at our auditions, but we haven’t seen YOU!” Well, let’s just say I considered going to the auditions with a laptop computer, dressed up like a nerd and blogging about the experience. Only problem is that I don’t think they’d let me take my laptop into the audition. Maybe next year I should try.

Seems like those people who auditioned in Chicago are the best at sharing their experience. I got the following experience shared on my website and it really tells a good story about how much this person enjoyed the America’s Got Talent audition experience:
About a month ago, March 1st, my Dad and I traveled to Chicago IL in order to audition for season 4 of America’s Got Talent. What an exciting opportunity that was! We arrived the 27th of February, did some sight seeing and ate at some nice restaurants, all in order to build up to the exciting day.
Sunday morning (The day of the Audition) we got up at 3am and were at McCormick Place (The Auditioning Area) by 4am. Waiting in the cold and as if that wasn’t bad, what happened next? It started snowing! I would have definitely loved seeing the beautiful snow falling if I was in the comfort of my own home, but alas, I was not. We were waiting basically in the street in the dark of the night, with nothing to do but wait for the time to come that we would actually be inside in the same area as the audition would take place!
To pass the time we chatted with the people in front of and behind us in line. Finding that they had traveled all the way from Nebraska! Wow! I thought we came a long way. A 6 hour drive from Metro Detroit MI! That was walking distance compared to Nebraska. Just kidding. Around 6am they opened the doors. We got inside of course and we waited, once more, in a very long line. Auditions still wouldn’t start until 8am. But guess what! They had a Starbucks inside! 4 to be exact! What’s better than waiting in a long line for hours at a time, than to do it with a Latte in hand!
While waiting, employees and volunteers passed around Release forms and paper work for any contestants who might not have finished theirs, or forgotten it and what not. Of course, due to my very organized mother, I had a folder piled an inch high with everything I needed. Other people passed around pens. Then some release forms for NON contestants were passed around. Why? They were filming the clips that would be aired along with the auditions on the TV! How exciting!
Time finally passed along and the line finally started moving. It was a very, very long line. I know I’ve said that several times but trust me… The line wrapped around the entire building. Literally. Finally we got down the steps. Contestants got a blue wrist band (Which I have in my folder still at this moment). And non contestants were given a Red wrist band (Which my dad basically ripped off the minute we left the building).
We passed a water fountain and just had to take pictures! It was pretty cool! Of course, the minute we stepped past the fountain, we had to put all cameras, cell phones, etc away so they weren’t in use. Past the fountain was what they called, “The Airport Detector”. We had to go through the same process you do at an airport. Removing all bags and shoes. They searched your bag and jacket. An interesting experience, and of course there were 2 lines. Male and Female. There was a shorter line for Females (Lucky us!) so I had to wait for about 20 minutes for my Dad to get through.
He came and we walked through the rope that signaled we were finally steps away from the audition rooms! I handed in my paper work and birth certificate to one of the people at the desk. They checked everything off. Handed it back and gave me a number!! Now, because we were there so early, I had one of the first numbers! My number (Which I also still have!) was 400125! I was the 125th person! That may seem like a long wait, but compared to the 5000 people that arrived for the audition, it’s better than nothing!
So we walked into a very large room! Filled with chairs and many people! All singing, juggling, playing instruments, dancing. It was such a sight! One of the men behind us in line sat down and his assistant immediately started putting makeup on him. What was he doing? He put bright blush and eye shadow. Lipstick and glittery fake eyelashes. A while later, the 2 men walked out to the restroom. As if that wasn’t off enough, 20 minutes later they arrived back again. Now the man with makeup was dressed in pink tights and a leotard and bright pink tutu. He had a short pink wig and did I mention his legs were shaved? Very creepy…
Minutes later, a camera crew came in and started filming. They asked everyone to gather around and scream “Chicago’s got Talent!” it was very fun! They went around the room filming different singers and dancers for clips! It was pretty crazy how everyone was waving their arms around trying to get the cameras attention. And Elvis! Did I mention there were at least 9 people dressed as Elvis impersonators! Oh doesn’t everyone love our King Elvis!
So we were called into the area where we were waiting before. This time there was a huge camera set up along with several other cameras. A Woman with a bullhorn started speaking. Long story short, we spent over an hour screaming Different things such as “We Love Chicago!” and “Americas Got Talent!” They also had a few people picked from the audience to say by them selves “I’ve Got Talent!” Including the Pink man!
Does anyone like Nick Cannon? Well as most know, he is the new host for Americas Got Talent! So they had a surprise for us! He was there! So everyone got to see him and all. It was pretty exciting. But not as exciting as the experience we were getting in auditioning.
More time passed and we were sent back into the waiting room where ANOTHER large group of people had taken all our seats. Too bad. Around 12:30 they FINALLY started calling in the first auditionees! Wait a second…weren’t the auditions supposed to start at 8am? Guess they were running a little bit late…
I was finally called in with 10 other singers like myself. 3 Judges sat in front of the room as well as a camera crew. I must admit, some of the singers were pretty bad. But 2 of them were really good. I hope they go through; if they don’t it would be a shame. One being a 20 year old African woman. She was really good. I was shocked with the voice that came out of her mouth! The others were pretty out of key and one man thought he was amazing, but he only knew how to sing in a very high pitched voice. Odd…. I was very confident with my audition as I said once before!
So it was finally over! When we were done, they let us know that we would get a message or call with in 4 to 6 weeks! That time is almost up!
We walked out of the building and on with the rest of our vaca time! Now whether I get through or not, I really enjoyed the experience.
It’s definitely ok if I don’t make it through. Yes I’ll be very disappointed but obviously there’s a reason. There’s always next year!
My name is Crystal Rosales, I’m 15, and I’ve had such an experience with just the audition alone!

I had an audition time of 8:00 am March 2. I arrived at Mccormick place around 5:45, ended up in line by about 6 am. There were already around 50 people in line. Some were auditioning, and others just family and friend. I met some people right away who were singing as I was. Seemed like more singers than anything.
After about 45 minutes of making sure everyone had papers and wristbands, they herded us to what seemed like a big ball room. We would stay here for a few hours. I didn’t mind I enjoyed watching all the performers practice. The dance off was interesting to watch also.
The time passed as we were asked to act for the camera. Sitting quietly pondering our fate. Unfortunately this one started while I was in the bathroom. Imagine my surprise as I walked in to at least 300-400 people sitting dead quiet. I guess it was a good thing I didn’t run in the room singing as loud as possible. Other poses consisted of everyone practicing, singers (singing), musicians (playing), etc.
Around 11 maybe a little later the first numbers were called. I was lucky to be called in the first numbers. I took a deep breath and walked to the line. I was placed in the line with the instruments (as I was playing the piano while I sang). It is importnt to note I was in line with about 6 other people and all had guitars, not a lot playing the piano I guess. Two people were called in the room before me with about 10 min in between auditions. They audition and said they were good to go.
I was called in, we auditioned alone in the room thank goodness, all though the ones outside said they could here me). I walked to the center stage and told them my name, age, song, and they asked a little bit about me. There was a man filming a woman working the computer and one gentleman (with a british accent) doing all the talking. I was asked to start when ready. So I sat at the awesome keyboard they had and sang “More Than Anyone”
by Gavin Degraw. After I finished they asked if I could sing another piece. So I said sure thinking in my mind (Oh Man) cause I had not prepared another piece. I sang “Belief”
also by Gavin Degraw as he is my favorite singer.
After I finished the producer sked me to wait outside while they check something on my papers. When I was asked to come back in he said he wanted me to sing for the executive producers. So I was led to another hall where I waited. In this hall they verified my information and took my picture. I also met the Boyd Family Band really nice family I enjoyed talking to.
Finally I was led into the room with two producers and another guy filming. He asked me to tell my story so I did. Then he said begin when ready. I sat down t the keyboard and after a sound check sang “More Than Anyone”. He said thanks and asked the other producer if he needed anything. He said no I think it was good. I was then told they will be calling people back in a few weeks.
I arrived about 6 and left before 1. So over all my experience was really good. I should mention my sister auditioned on March 1 and they arrived at 7 and didn’t audition until about 8 or 9 at night. So I am really happy for my timing.
I was really happy how everything went. The first producer was very complimentary and singing in front of the exec producers was very encouraging. However it has been 2 weeks and I have heard nothing so who knows. Just wanted everyone to see what its like to audition.

The reviews and comments from the various audition cities are coming in. Check out the comments in previous posts to see other people’s experiences. Overall it seems like people are having a great great time and are really glad they auditioned for the show.
This was a really nice detailed experience which sheds some light on wait times you might expect if you’re getting ready for the America’s Got Talent New York Auditions.
Thanks for sending the experiences in. Hopefully people find these helpful and interesting. I know I’m completely fascinated by the experiences and process. It’s kind of like trying to see Oz behind the curtain.
America’s Got Talent Chicago Audition Experience
We went to the Chicago auditions on Sunday, March 1. We had a confirmed audition time of 2 PM but so did hundreds of others. From what I could gather, contestants had times of 8 AM or 2 PM and your place in line was entirely based on when you got there. No one there ever looked at the confirmation email. We got in line about 1 PM. My daughter’s actual audition took place about 10:15 PM; over 9 hours later. We spoke with a woman who’d arrived about 5 AM who completed her audition around 11:45 even though she was #5 and the auditions opened at 8 AM. I guess the first few hours were spent filming the outside shots and doing interviews. We were never involved in an outside shot in the afternoon. Good thing as it was really cold.
The guy who called out the numbers in the waiting room told me there were a total of 900 auditions on Sunday. My daughter had number XXXXX. We spend the first 4 hours or so waiting in line before getting registered. After we’d been herded down to the lobby area to complete the registration process, we sat in a large banquet room for hours with hundreds of others waiting to be called. In the morning and early afternoon I heard that singers were auditioned in groups of 10. At the end of the day they were being auditioned in groups of 20. Some groups had singers called back after the large group was done but it is hard to say if there really were second auditions on Sunday.
Once in the banquet room, performers were called out of the room in groups of 50 by number. A short time after numbers 600 to 650 had been called in for auditions, they decided to simply take all of the singers at once. That nearly cleaned out the room of performers as practically everyone was a singer. The remaining auditioners were considered variety and totaled less than 25. The large group of singers were taken together out of the banquet room into the lobby area. Once in the lobby, they were separated into 6 groups. Each group waited in line until they were taken back to an audition room. That process itself took over an hour. A guard told me there were about 6 audition rooms total with most being reserved for vocalists
When it was her turn to perform, I had to go into the room with her since she was a minor. The room was a small, carpeted conference room with a wooden floor set up in the center. It was a very good size for an act like ours. There were 3 people in the back of the room. One person was running the camera and another was definitely a judge. I’m not clear if the third was judging or simply there to operate the cd player or any other equipment needed for the performance. The (definite) judge was a friendly, attractive young woman and was very sympathetic about the late hour. Our act was 2:20 and she was allowed to complete it in spite of the 90 second limit. (I don’t know if anyone was NOT allowed to complete their song or act.) The judge told us she did an excellent job and clapped for her. It was nice to hear but not sure if it was significant. I asked her for any performance suggestions but she had none. It’s probably nothing that they do for auditions. She told us that the producers would look at all of the videos and that we would be contacted in 1 to 8 weeks if we were to receive a callback. Other people who auditioned right before us in the same room were told 6 to 8 weeks. And the website now states that performers will be contacted in the next 4 weeks. Go figure. Rumor has it that Chicago auditioners will be called back to New York City but it could be Miami.
It was a long day but my daughter thought it was fun and a good experience. Everyone around was friendly and interesting; especially the ventriloquist Alisha so it wasn’t all that boring. I’m sure we will see Alisha on the show.
A comment regarding a previous poster who auditioned in 30 minutes. The guy who called in the groups told me that Washington D.C. did not have the number of people auditioning that the other cities had. He thinks New York could be worse than Chicago.

Today I got another anonymous experience submitted for others to learn about the audition experience. This experience really was different than the couple hour auditions I’ve posted previously. Thanks for sharing all your experiences. Here it goes:
Hi John and everyone on the forum[technically this is a blog]!
Well, it’s Monday morning and we got back late last night from the Chicago auditions. I think our experience has been a bit different from those posted on the site, so we thought it could give some insight for those who are still waiting to strut their stuff!!
We were there for 11 1/2 hours!! It was a LONG day…but, I hope at least successful. We arrived at 7am (had an 8am time) and were number [REMOVED]. The morning hours were spent shooting group “welcome to chicago!!” and “america’s got talent!” shots with the new host, Nick Cannon. It started out entertaining and fun, but after 2 hours, became a little much!
Actual auditions didn’t get started until maybe noon. We didn’t get in line to audition until a little after 3. Our first audition was probably a little before 4. We were sent to the executive producer room and played there a little after 5, where they also took our picture. Then, we were asked to wait around a bit longer and a little before 6, were brought into an ‘interview’ type room.
We spoke to two ladies about what we would play if we were on the show, our lives, etc… Ended up getting out of there around 6:30…so, the moral of the story is, be prepared to be there ALL day. I think if you’re in the afternoon group (2pm), you don’t do any of the group shots, so your day will be shorter.
Everyone was very helpful and answered any questions we had…although long, it was an otherwise good experience!! I believe the next step is the LA televised auditions in front of the celeb. judges sometime around the end of May.
Best of luck to everyone auditioning and we hope to see you in LA!

I’ve previously posted a bunch of people’s Americas’s Got Talent audition videos. A bunch of great talent. I think they also appreciate those people who provide them feedback on their performance in the comments. Feedback (both good and bad) is the best way to improve so that you do better in the audition.
AJ recently wrote a comment on this site asking for me to post his band’s video. AJ is part of a group of young men who make up The Understudies. The following is a video of The Understudies covering Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes
.
Let the members of The Understudies know what you think of their band. It’s kind of fun to see a group of young people have a band. I think that might be something we haven’t seen on the show before and something the producers might like to have on the show.

I don’t know this to be true yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if probably my favorite act from last year returned to America’s Got Talent 2009. That act is the Russian Bar Trio! If you don’t remember them, then you must not have ever seen them before. They are just unforgettable. So, for those that have never seen the Russian Bar Trio, check out their audition on last season’s America’s Got Talent:
Of course, many may ask why they’ll come back again this year if they were on last season. The answer is simple. Last season, Christine, the Russian Bar Trio girl got injured and so the Russian Bar Trio had to pull out of the competition. It just makes sense that America’s Got Talent would give them another chance.
The only reason I think they might not return to America’s Got Talent is if they’ve gotten too big and successful for the show. Check out this comment I found on their website which makes it looks like they may be working for Cirque du Soleil now and so they wouldn’t be able to be on the show.
Christine is back on the bar after 3 month and a half recovering. She is stronger than ever. You are welcome to come see us on the Cirque du Soleil Show for the 400 years of Quebec City. It will be at the Colisé Pepsi on october 17th-18th-19th.
Well, either way, the Russian Bar Trio will remain near or at the top of my list of most talented America’s Got Talent performers ever. It would have been really interesting to see how America would have voted for them compared to the other finalists. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to see it, and I hope that America’s Got Talent brings them back this year.
In the meantime, check out a rather recent performance by the Russian Bar Trio at what looks like a Michigan basketball game:
Makes me wonder why UNLV doesn’t convince Cirque du Soleil performers to come and perform at halftime for UNLV games, but I digress.
Anyone have news on if the Russian Bar Trio could possibly be back on America’s Got Talent season 4?

Another person has contacted me with a bunch of new insights into the audition process. Remember, that this is just the perspective of a fan and fellow contestant of America’s Got Talent. None of the information below or on this site should be considered official and we do not represent NBC, America’s Got Talent or the makers of the show. This is just a fan site with fans sharing their personal experiences. For official America’s Got Talent audition information go to the Official America’s Got Talent Audition website.
This person sent me feedback on the process in 3 parts. They’ve decided to remain anonymous, but we wish them best of luck and hope we get to see them on the show. Hopefully you find it helpful.
America’s Got Talent Audition Experience and Suggestions Part 1
Hi. I auditioned in DC for America’s Got Talent. I got there early in the morning on Friday the 13th. There was a lot of people and i waited from 7am to 2pm before I was able to audition.
As far as the guy who auditioned in 30 minutes. He got there after the rush had slowed down. That’s why it only took him a very short time getting in and out. There was not very many people there friday….anywho, out of the group I was a part of, i was the only person called back a second time to perform my act for the producer. The producer slipped up and said I was going to get a call back in march- callbacks for D.C. Auditions will be in march! – then he “corrected” what he said and said that if I made it i would get a call in march…so who know’s?
Maybe I made it or maybe I didn’t. Other than that, the producer that was in the room looked quite young. Probably as young as early twenties. Here’s a hint- if you are a female vocalist you want to sing power ballads for your audition. That’s what they are looking for…
America’s Got Talent Audition Experience and Suggestions Part 2
I do have some other information for you.
All persons who auditioned in LA, Atlanta, D.C., Chicago and Boston, the callbacks will be the first week of March. They will either go to NYC or Miami for the second round in front of the celebrity judges. That will be on the 17th-19th of March in NYC, March 31st-April 1st in Miami, and the third round begins on April 8th-9th in LA.
I found all this information on the website. I do know that if they call you back in a second time after your first audition that you went on the list for “possible callbacks”. I talked to one of the producer’s and he told me it was a “very good sign” to be called back in a second time. Also, singers go in group of five in a room with a producer/agent sound guy and camera guy. They are not filming at first, but they will start filming if they call you in a second time. That recording is what they are using to determine if you get a call back. Ultimately, Simon Cowell has the last word on the callbacks.
Another note- Dress to Impress. Don’t wear white or a lot of black, wear bright colors, and no street clothes. Those guys want to see the best you.
Don’t wear jeans unless they are a different color or dressy.
For girls/women- where stage makeup but don’t cake it on. Presentation is everything.
I know I was talking about Power Ballads for women but here is a little more information on that- Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis..enough said on that one.d
Singing Bonnie Raitt or Carey Underwood is something I saw that the producers didn’t want to listen to.
Alrighty, I hope this helps. Oh yeah, Im pretty sure the guy wasn’t being a jerk. I say he was just tired. But I know when I was performing I had their complete attention….either because I was that bad or I was that good! LOL! Like I said, who knows!
America’s Got Talent Audition Experience and Suggestions Part 3
Oh yea, no Jennifer Hudson. That came from the producer/agent. Don’t ask me, but I suppose they think anyone call sing those poppy songs. If the women/girls can’t sing like Whitney Houston or Celine Dion it’s going to be really hard.
