PureAGT Season 8, Live Show #3 – SPOILERS!!! Who Made it Through to the Next Round?
For once, I’m not feeling outraged about the results tonight – I am, however, beginning to get concerned about the number of singers making it through to the semifinals. And I think Howie and I may be on the same page, because he seemed to subtly (ok, NOT so subtly) insinuate that America “got it wrong” last week…and that we have “such a great variety of acts to share with America!” I don’t know about you, but to me that screams “You idiots shouldn’t have voted Marty through…and stop voting so many other singers through!!!”
…so now that we’ve got that out of the way, the 4 acts that made it through to the semifinals were The American Military Spouses Choir, Kenichi Ebina, Jonathan Allen, and the Chicago Boyz (who beat out Mitsi Dancing School in the judges’ choice, by virtue of getting 3 judges votes).
I absolutely agree with Kenichi and the Chicago Boyz making it through (although I’m a little surprised that the latter didn’t get more votes). AMSC? I think they’re probably going to struggle if the other choir makes it through to the semifinals as well, but I can understand why America voted them through. Now I actually like Jonathan Allen as a person – but sorry kids, I’m all opera’d out. I can really only muster up the enthusiasm for Forte…Jonathan? Meh, and Branden…no. I really only see Forte making it past the semifinals. Will be interesting to see what the Chicago Boyz come up with for the semifinals – they seemed to indicate that the guy who broke his leg last night was one of the more central members of the team, and their coach had a bit of a worried look on his face when he heard they’d been voted through. Hope they can pull it together.
So what are your thoughts on tonight’s results?
I actually prefer Mitsi Dancing School over the Chicago Boyz, because their act was a lot cleaner and pleasant to look at. It’s overall lot more professionally presented than the Chicago Boyz’s performance. Also, I admire their precision and how beautifully the act played out, whereas the Chicago Boyz did make a mistake, which shouldn’t happen at this point in the competition.
I really think that the judge’s vote should be abolished in the quarterfinals; it would be a lot more fair to the public if they just went with the top 4 voted acts. The judges are not an accurate representation of what America prefers.
I’m not happy about another opera singer being put through and agree that Forte is really good, especially since I’m not a great fan of opera! However, I agree wholeheartedly with the other three acts that were put through. My fourth choice was the Mitsi Dancers. Their nearly flawless synchronicity was mesmerizing.
Howard thinks that he has his finger on the pulse of America, but that’s because of his huge ego. Additionally, my pleasure in seeing the Chicago Boyzhas
My message was cut off unexpectedly. What I wanted to say is that the Boyz do something different and unusual. I love the fact that they have this opportunity thanks to a proggram that has redirected the attention of these young men and given them an alternative to joining a gang and adding yo the horrendous crime and murderer rates in Chicago.
I looked over the tape of the audition and their quarters act, and the guy who got hurt was most certainly one of their main stunt men. I hope that can recover from his loss. Also, can somebody tell me what’s up with a top 60 instead if 48 this year? It’s called QUARTERfinals because there should be 4 of them.
Another 3 of 4 this week! Would’ve preferred to see Mitsi’s Dancing School make it thru.
And some positivity: Yeah, Kenichi!
@Matt B – It’s actually always been 60 acts in the quarterfinals – it’s just divided up a bit differently this season. In past seasons, it’s been 4 weeks of 12 acts that got put through from Vegas, then the YouTube special (12 acts voted onto the live show by YouTube viewers). Then after that, it’s the wild card round, which is another 12 acts picked by the judges that haven’t qualified for the semifinals yet. So technically, it’s 72 acts in the quarterfinals (with the possibility of some of the acts performing twice, due to being picked for the wild card). This year, they’ve done away with the YouTube special and added another week of 12 acts picked from Vegas – which I’m actually thankful for, because some of the YouTube talent has really been pretty mediocre in the past few seasons. I’d rather have another round of 12 acts picked from those that tried out in Vegas. Make sense? If the name really gets you bent out of shape, I guess you could call it the “quintifinals” or “sextifinals”. 🙂
Is there going to be a wildcard show? No mention of it on NBC schedule. The judges usually mention it during the quarterfinals.
@Lorraine – The wild card doesn’t usually get mentioned until the end of the last regular round of the quarterfinals – and then they announce the whole list of who is coming back. I would be very surprised if they opted not to do a wild card show this season.
rong niu has skills, but this kind of act is all over in china and far better than her. I know her.she has a lot of lie on america get talent show. It is not right for her to tell lies on front of million of America. She should got out there in the first round. Honest also should count.
