PureAGT Season 8 – Roster for First Live Show Airing July 23
As he usually does at the end of the Vegas week finale, Nick announced the 12 acts we’ll be seeing in the first live show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Tuesday night. They are:
Branden James (opera singer)
Aaralyn & Izzy (kid death metal band)
Special Head (levitator)
Fresh Faces (dance/gymnastics group)
Anna Christine (kid singer/pianist)
Kevin Downey Jr. (stand-up comedian)
The American Hit Men (rock band)
Hype (hip-hop dance group)
Tellavision (LCD screen dance group)
Alexanderia the Great (escape artist)
Kristef Brothers (hand balancing acrobats)
Collins Key (magician)
I don’t know about you guys, but this seems like a really tough first group for the live shows. Keep in mind that only 4 acts get to go through each week of the live shows – and this particular episode pits several heavy-hitters (like Collins Key, Anna Christine, Special Head, Alexanderia, & the Hit Men) against one another. I guess my only hope is that some of these stronger acts end up sending some of my least favorites (Aaralyn & Izzy, and Tellavision) home. What do you guys think?
I really hope American Hitmen make it through. I think they’re one of my favorites act at the moment.
I think Special Head is going to have a tough time against Alexandria and Collins Key. But I’m really having a tough time seeing who is definitely going on to the next round.
Me too, Mo – thankfully, I think they’ve got a broad-spectrum appeal that will likely carry them through to the next round.
First impressions of this list: Aaralyn & Izzy, Kevin Downey Jr., and Tellavision are probably toast. The only “sure thing” I see in this list is Collins Key – kid’s been knocking it out of the park so far.
Yeah, I have don’t think Aaralyn & Izzy will make it through. I honestly didn’t think they’d make it through Vegas. I’m undecided about Kevin just because we haven’t really gotten to see his stuff. The few seconds I did see, I didn’t like however.
And I totally agree about Collins Key. I hope he keeps up the momentum he has built so far.
Aaralyn and Izzy have the 2nd most Viral video AGT has ever had, of course they made it through. What’s really scary is that they have the fans to back them up. The narrow vision of what is entertaining for ‘most’ people, is blurring.
If i had to pick who is moving on: collins key, the hitmen, hype and aaralyn and izzy. Sorry sheeple, shit is changing.
A few of the acts do not appeal at all sorry an escape artist; sword swallower; ratttlesnake handler – these are all sideshow or circus type acts as Mel B put it on Tuesday night but Howard S won that battle – bottom line you are going to pay $100 for a show – are you going to watch some little girl ruining her voice screaming like crazy. Think about the end result and what you would be willing to sit through for over an hour.
Not quite sure who you’re calling “sheeple”, Phillip. I’m going to assume its not anyone posting here, as that’s kind of a rude thing to say 🙂
As for YouTube views (which I don’t put much stock into, anyway), their video “going viral” might have more to do with Aaralyn & Izzy being a trainwreck act that people tell their friends to check out purely for trainwreck value, as opposed to an act that people genuinely love and can be bothered to vote for. Just because I watch a YouTube video, doesn’t mean I like what I see.
I still don’t think Aaralyn & Izzy stand a chance – not with legitimately appealing acts like Collins Key, the Hit Men, Anna Christine, & Alexanderia around. A legitimately talented act always stands a better chance than something that’s purely a novelty.
I’ll go with the American Hit Men, Anna Christine, Collins Key and Branden James
jimmbboe – I think you have the right choices
Bottom line all through the 60 performances large groups choirs, dancers etc never hold up steam and yes wives of military choir are great especially with the lady who took lead but way too large a group. I am a Canuck so see potential as Patriotism is bigger in USA than Canada.
This round is gonna be pretty darn competitive. The four I hope who make it are Anna Christine, Collins Key, American Hit Men, and Alexanderia.
Yes, I agree that this will probably be a tough show. My favorite out of these is Fresh Faces– I thought that they were really adorable, talented, and entertaining. Although their actual act was shown in only about 15 seconds, it really captivated me.
The four that I hope to see go through are Fresh Faces, Collins Key, Anna Christine, and either Hype or Kristef Brothers.
Also, can someone explain to me how the voting works for the live shows?
First warning, Elizabeth: if these combative and rude posts continue, you’re going to be permanently blocked. Either find a way to deal with the fact that not everyone enjoys the same things you do, or GTFO.
@Anonymous – If the voting works the same way it did last year, I think it’s pretty similar to the DWTS voting – each act has a phone number that you can call to vote for them, and you can also text in your votes. I think you get maybe 5 votes per method? Not sure about online voting. Let me look into it and get back to you, k?
We’re done here, Elizabeth. You’ve proven that you cannot state your opinion without taking aim at the opinions of others and you’re repeating the same thing over and over again. Goodbye and god bless, sweetheart.
Voting will be available through phone, text, online voting-NBC AGT website, FaceBook and Twitter. Of the choirs- I hope 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra goes through to the next live round.
