America’s Got Talent 2011 Auditions – Denver
Well, this weekend was the America’s Got Talent 2011 auditions in Denver, CO. I’m trying to remember if this is the first time that America’s Got Talent has been to Denver. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I don’t remember them having gone there before. I’m sure one of my readers will correct me if I’m wrong.
Either way, I want to welcome those who were part of the America’s Got Talent 2011 auditions in Denver, we want to hear from you. What was it like. What did you experience? How did the process go? How many producers of America’s Got Talent did you see when you auditioned? Let’s hear your stories about auditioning in Denver for America’s Got Talent Season 6.
Here’s the note on the official America’s Got Talent audition site about the Denver auditions:
It was the our first trip to Denver and the turnout was amazing. Thanks to all the great acts that turned up.
All acts that are moving on in the compeition will be notified by March 2010. Only those acts that move on will be contacted. We will update this blue box when all the calls have been made.
i auditioned today in Denver for AMERICAS GOT TALENT i made sure to bring food ( 6 hours inside) and dressed to impress!!! I was the the “guy” wearing the french Barret carrying the “goblin green” electric guitar!! i play solo instrumental guitar, live looping and vocals!! i think they did a great job and i personally met a lot of cool people and had a great time!!!! I was called back 3 times to “re-audition and finally to do a “photo” shoot where I played guitar, just sat and was filmed walking in and out of a couple of entrances….that,s it!! They said they would e-mail and call if interested.. Overall..it was fun and I really am glad to have been a part of the whole deal!!!! My picture is even up at the AGT website on the DENVER page…rock on!!!!
Thanks for sharing Chance. I’ve heard from many people now that like you the cool people they met at the audition is one of the best parts of it.

Hi Gerald,
This is just an AGT fan site. The official audition page is: http://americasgottalentauditions.com/new/
They don’t have any TX audition locations up yet, but maybe they’ll add one later.
Hey,
We just finished out LA auditions for AGT. We went to the first audition in front of judges, were asked to wait, then were called to a second audition (played the same song) in front of the executive producers. They then took a picture of us and then were asked to wait for an interview. We gave the interview to a staff member who entered our info and then were done. We arrived at 4:00am and left at around 3:15pm. I feel really good , except for the fact that a few acts that made it to the interview stage like us were also asked to wait and were filmed for what seemed to be a TV spot. We were not. We will just have to wait and see. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your story. It’s always interesting to hear what people experience during the auditions.
[…] if you’re interested in auditioning. We just got our first person who auditioned in LA share their experience at the AGT auditions. Here it is: […]

ABOUT MY LA AUDITION: I submitted online intially and then a producer personally emailed and called me then he set up a time for me to audition in front of him and other producers. They told me when I came in to say I was a catergory called Q act ? Anyone know what that means? Anyway I was asked to got in a room by myself meaning I Never had to go in with a group like most people do to audition with producers . I sang one song and was filmed while singing. They said That I was really good and told me that Call backs were in March. I am taking all of this as a good sign. As most people just showed up and had to audition lined up in a group. I was also filmed before the audition. I have a really good feeling about my audition. I am only confused about one thing. There were others that were auditioned in the same process as I was and some were asked to go to executive producers to sing again and I wasnt. The producers on the floor said that was NOT a bad thing and not to worry. I am grateful that I was provided this opportunity and to perform alone etc. but I am confused why I didnt sing a 2nd time for executive producers?? Some of the people werent even that good or bad that had too sing a 2nd time in another room for executive producers. I know I did a great job Even The PRODUCER SAID I was really good. I sang before audition and people were very impressed and asking my name. Does it mean Im not gonna have another audition if I didnt sing a 2nd time in another room for exec producers ?? Does it mean the people that did perform a 2nd time for producers are for sure going to sing for judges ?? or IS it mainly just them filming for the show?? or a combination?? I also noticed that The people that were asked to sing a 2nd time for producers were for the most part GIMMICKY and were in a costume of some sort or belly dancers, twins or they were not normally dressed or they were in groups or they sang with an instrument . I was dressed nice but not in a costume and I sang alone with no instruments .Confused?? Any answers? Theories?? Would help if you actually know how the process works. Thanks so much.
ConfusedinLA,
It’s hard to say for sure. Since this is a fan site, we just have guesses and stories like yours to try and help us draw conclusions.
Here’s what I have seen. The producers are doing just that. They’re trying to produce a great TV show full of entertaining, interesting, unique and talented individuals. So, of course they’re looking for the best of the best. As best I can tell if you auditioned by yourself, that’s the first good sign. If you just audition in a big room with a bunch of others and barely a camera in sight, that’s usually a bad sign.
Going to the executive producers seems to be a good sign from what I can tell, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a great thing. I think when the talent is plenty good enough there’s no need. Although, I could be wrong on this.
It also seems that the footage is likely watched later. I imagine they file it all based on categories and if they feel like they need another singer or another variety act, then they go through that list. I’ve even heard stories of acts being flown to other cities to provide a more well rounded group of acts in a city.
Certainly it’s confusing. I think the show 1. likes to keep you on edge and 2. likes to be able to change their mind down the road. There’s value in both of those things.
At the end of the day, enjoy the process. Don’t get too worked up about making it or not. Many untalented people will make the show and get laughed off stage. Many talented people won’t make the show since they can only take so many. So, you can’t get too worked up about it. They’re really trying to produce an entertaining TV show that gets great ratings, not find the very best talent.
Take that for what it’s worth. I’m just a fan like the rest of you.
ConfusedinLA-
I auditioned in Denver. My friend and I showed up around 2pm. I was the only person playing a saxophone that I’d seen there, so I was a little confused as to if there was even a need for an instrumentalist that did not sing or play guitar. I waited until about 7pm before being told to line up with a bunch of other acts. We were all seated in front of a room. There were two groups that went in and out of the room in which I heard them talk about how they had to take turns performing as a group. Once they were all gone, the first act from my group was called into the room (a little boy and girl doing a dancing routine). They were out quickly, then I was called in. I was so freaking nervous that each question they asked me, I responded with one word lol. Anywho, I played my sax (I’m told that I’m really good), and when I was done, they clapped and said it was excellent. I was told to look in the camera as I answered a couple of questions about whether or not I’ve performed in a band…which I haven’t. When the questions were done, they said they weren’t making decisions then and there, and that they will be making call backs in March.
The suspense is killing me too….believe me. There was a part that I even “squeaked” on out of nervousness, but the response they gave me when I was finished made me feel like they were impressed. Maybe they do that to everyone tho….who knows . = \
Denver Audition,
This is what happens every year. You won’t hear back from them until they decide to bring you back. If they don’t bring you back, you’ll never hear from them. Just the way they do it.
We do generally find out when the tapings happen and after those tapings you’ll know you weren’t called back. Plus, if you watch the official site, they update the city page once they’re done taping that city.
As just a fan of the show, your audition sounds like it could do well. They haven’t had many instrumentalists other than piano players lately. They did have a sax guy one year, but it’s been a while. Plus, it sounds like you have a good underdog story since you’ve never played in a band or anything. They like stories like that.
Best of luck!
Thank you for the wishes, John. I did a little research myself and had seen there was a saxophonist name “Julian” on BGT who did well….and I play the same Kenny G songs that he does, so that’s really the only reason why I auditioned in the first place. I will update here if I hear anything!
There you go. I think Julian was who I was thinking about. Seems like there might have been one other at the very beginning of America’s Got Talent too.
My teenage daughter and her 2 friends auditioned today as a “singing group” in Chicago. After about 4 hours of waiting, they were brought into a room with 10 other singers to perform their 90 second act for the “screeners” in the room who had computers. After everyone left the room, they called the girls in to talk to them and they sang a second song. They were then escorted to another waiting area to see the executive producers. Once again they were interviewed and performed the same 2 songs. They all had computers, but I didn’t see any cameras. I was watching and they did a fantastic job….but I don’t think they have any kind of a “sob” story…so I am not sure if they will get a callback. But it was a great adventure and a wonderful learning experience for the girl!
I auditioned in chicago today. Very busy. I was a “Q” act. I have auditioned before and made it to 3 different rooms (1 year ago) …met to do paperwork after ect. I was put on Standby then…nothing! This year being a “Q” act I was again in a room with only 3 or 4 producers noone else. Video was rolling I did my thing. I was then asked for “B” filming ie. holding room footage. So I waited for that. Nothing else after no 2nd or 3rd room. Hmmm so with that said Im not sure if this is better or worse than last year! I thought I had a good chance last year getting to 3 rooms….maybe it only takes 1 room! lol….Good luck to all and dont sweat it.
