America’s Got Talent Top 10 Interviews Tomorrow
Tomorrow I’m going to get the chance to interview many (and probably ALL) of the America’s Got Talent 2010 top 10. As always, I like to ask the readers of this site to let me know any questions they’d like to ask the acts during my interviews. It’s always more fun when you provide the question. I know this is short notice, but I thought I’d give you the chance.
You can either leave a comment on this post, or if you prefer to send it to me in private, just submit it on our Contact Us page.
Here’s the list of the AGT 2010 Top 10 in case you’re not following that closely:
Anna and Patryk – New Hyde Park/Maspeth, New York (Dancers)
Christina & Ali – Idaho Falls, Idaho (Singers)
Fighting Gravity – Blacksburg, Virginia (Dance Group)
Jackie Evancho, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Singer)
Jeremy Vanschoonhoven – Talent, Oregon (Stunt Bike Rider)
Michael Grasso – Cape May, New Jersey (Magician)
Michael Grimm – Waveland, MS (Musician/Singer)
Prince Poppycock – Los Angeles, California (Opera Singer)
Taylor Mathews – Alexandria, Louisiana (Musician/Singer)
Studio One Young Beast Society – Orlando, Florida (Dance Crew)
ask micheal grasso what his plans are after the show whether or not he will go single or try to hook back up with magic X, what his thoughts were on murry through out the competetion, depending on how the interview is going ask him how it felt to be rejected for chips cooney and his thoughts on chips. who is the best magician he has collaberated with.
steven,
Thanks for the questions. I’d never heard of Magic X. Very interesting.
Him being sent home is an interesting angle, especially against chips.
Murray just makes me angry. It’s not magic if I could go up on stage and do it with the help of the producers;-)
Jackie Evancho is most definitely a talented and amazing girl. She brings tears to my eyes within seconds of beginning to sing. I would dearly love to hear her sing “Over the Rainbow”, “Hallelujah” a la’ Jeff Buckley, “Amazing Grace” or “The Rainbow Connection”. I’m sure they’re corny songs to request but each has a sentimental pull. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
Thank you!
-Lisa
And to add, I’d love to hear Prince Poppycock do any of the above songs listed, as well as “Ave Maria”. Again, corny, I’m sure.
Although the idea of hearing Prince Poppycock sing “Ave Maria” makes me giggle, I would imagine it would be worth any price of admission. He is, quite simply, beautiful.
Thank you, again!
-Lisa
I’d like Prince Poppycock to do Broadway. This would show his versatility, plus I think his is a more Broadway voice, not operatic voice. Any of the above songs are fine too.
As to Jackie, yes “Amazing grace” and “Over the rainbow” are both good choices. Also maybe something form Disney anymations e.g. Pocahontas. Broadway too – “Castle in the cloud”? In general, I’d like her to pick songs that are a little less “adult” and are written for her voice range. Something that she can sing in the original key, with phrases that 10-year old lungs can take on one breath, and also that express emotions a 10-year old can really feel and understand.
Something I’d be interested in hearing from a general perspective (no on in particular) is how much pull the production staff of AGT has on their performance. Do they push for specific music pieces? Do the acts find it detrimental to representing themselves fully when 20 extras bombard the stage as filler? Is it frustrating to have to participate in the “popcorn scenes” and other blatant promotional shtick?
In a more specific vein, is it distracting for Jeremy to ride with all the girls dancing around? Not in a sexual sense, but just having people moving around so much when he is trying to concentrate on the trick.
Also, would love to know from the ‘big show’ guys (Jeremy, Michael Grasso, Poppycock, Fighting Gravity) if they are financially responsible for the props, or if the show picks up the tab on the equipment. If the previous, how difficult is it to worry about affording to construct the props?
Relating to the first question, would love to hear from the singers regarding song choice and their ability to pick what they want as opposed to what the show may feel is a “good fit,” and how that has impacted them throughout the weeks.
It’d also be interesting to hear from some of the ‘frontrunners’ (Poppycock, Jackie, Fighting Gravity), or just any of them in general as to whether they read up on viewer comments of themselves online (here, TWOP, NBC, IMDB, etc.) and what their thoughts are regarding feedback and criticism.
Sorry if this went a little long, just trying to think of some engaging questions that could lead to discussion among all the competitors…
I think I got a bunch of these things in. I should have asked if they read stuff about them online. That would have been good. I might do another interview on Monday. So, I may follow up there.
Ask Michael Grimm how tall is he? When is his birthday? Where can we find a copy of the song he wrote “John Wayne and Jesus”.
Ask Michael Grimm what “Ol’ Jerry Walker” is about. The song, from a CD of Mike’s original songs, seems to imply that he was ripped off (musically?) by Jerry (Jeff?) Walker, of country music fame. Looks like Mike has been writing and performing for 15 years or so. I love his voice and his musical style. Sounds like he has had a difficult road, both in his personal life and in his career. It’s time he caught a break. I hope America likes him as much as I do.
Dana,
Excellent question. I am curious about it, too.
Where was Jeremy Vanschoonhoven… last night and Antonia Restivo and Michael Grasso. I was very disappointed that they highlighted the funny untalented acts, yet did not even hardly mention the above people.
Also, I still am harping on CARLOS APONTE, I thought for sure at some point, he was going to win it all.
What do I know. The right person certainly won this and is most deserving. Congratulation Michael Grimm, and I am sure that your grandparents must be so very proud of you, we sure are.
