Jackie Evancho on America’s Got Talent

We’ve known about Jackie Evancho here on Pure America’s Got Talent for quite a while now. In fact, I’m even Jackie’s mom’s friend on Facebook. So, we’re basically like family;-)
Well, Jackie had what I think was the best performance of the night. It really was flawless (unlike many of the other AGT acts). Dan Sperry was great too, but Jackie just has that little bit of twinkle in her eye that’s hard to resist. It’s going to be great fun to see her with the other talent that’s already gone through.

If you need a comparison, check out this other YouTube audition video (which didn’t make it) by Chelsea Ross Miller who also is trying to sing opera. Chelsea Ross Miller has very nice legs, but her singing pales in comparison to Jackie Evancho.

Wow. She’s good.
She is a very gifted girl, who could be the next great opera singer when she grows up if this is what she wanted to do (I read she doesn’t, but surely a 10-year old can change her mind about what she wants to be many times), and if she is careful with her voice.
Child voices are precious but are easily damaged. I hope she doesn’t overuse it. Singing arias in such a young age – even transposed down to mezzo range as is done here and with some notes omitted – can harm child’s voice. Many a child singer damaged their young voices by singing too much and too soon, Charlotte Church is the most obvious example. Some child singers did well – e.g. Beverly Sills or Anja Silja. Jackie is much more talented than young Charlotte Church was, so I really hope she’d do well not just as a child prodigy but as an adult as well.
I haven’t watched a season of AGT before, and I have to admit that Jackie was my draw this year. I’ve been following her on Youtube for several years and was ecstatic to find she made it to the show. I’m not familiar with how the show works though – now that Jackie is through to the next round, when will we see her perform again? How many more shows before a winner is chosen? If you could explain or point me in the right direction, that would be great.

I’ve been trying to ask the show for information on their plans. I haven’t heard back from them.
Today they have a wild card show. Then, they’ll likely have 2-3 semi final shows. Then, the finals I imagine. So, I’d say 4-5 more episodes left.
Oh, ok. One last question – do you know of a place online where I can watch full episodes after they’ve aired? I can’t always catch the show on Tues nights and don’t have dvr right now.
