The Drunk Hoff Becomes The “Drunk Hassel”

Poor David Hasselhoff has done it again. If the British tabloids are to be believed, he got rip roaring drunk at Simon Cowell’s 50th birthday bash and continued on this junket for 2 more days until his assistant called for a doctor. It was said the assistant was afraid David would die from alcohol poisoning.
David was allegedly so drunk, he took a swing at his assistant, missed and hit the doctor. The article went on to say he had been so loaded that he wet the bed and ruined 2 mattresses. The hotel got him to a hospital and he was in rehab for 2 days.
David, David, oh David. He is very well liked by most of the AGT audiences and contestants, including myself, but I just wish he’d wake up and come to his senses before he kills himself. I can’t help but wonder what would happen to him if he did something to bad enough to get fired from judging AGT.
Since he clearly can’t handle his drinking, he should have given this party a miss. Seriously. Sometimes on the show the look in his eyes reminds me of what Paula looked like on American Idol from time to time. Does anyone out there think David will ever get into rehab and stay sober?

OMG you are SO right. This guy is a trainwreck! He really needs to get into some serious rehab, & for longer than 2 days! How sad for him & his children, didn’t his daughter video tape him on one of his binges on the floor eating burgers? It was disgusting. Very sad indeed.

Yes, you’re right, his daughter video taped him laying on the floor slobbering over a hamburger. At what point do you say to yourself that you’ve hit bottom and pick yourself up and do something.
It’s just disgraceful for him and I’m so sorry for him at the same time. He’s such a proud man, you can tell especially from how he gets up on stage every year and (unknowingly) humiliates himself singing on AGT.
If it wasn’t such a goofy show with such an array of acts, I’d say his job would be in jeapardy. But you know what? That’s the fun of AGT. It’s judges are just as goofy as some of the contestants. And sometimes, just sometimes, somebody supertalented comes along like Terry Fader or Nuttin But Stringz and we get to say “Ahhhhh”.

I never reply to blogs but I love this. I must admit as quirky as Dave Hasslehoff is, that I still love to see him. That is the best part of these shows. Every week I looked forward to seeing what Paula would say as much as I would look forward to what the contestants would do. David is a gem and a major part of what makes the show work. I am not condoning what he did…but honestly he is the only reason I watch AGT. But what do I know?

Some people just can’t handle their alcohol – feel bad that he doesn’t seem to have any control.
OMG…. Wow. I didn’t know this about him. I was soooo in love with him when he was on Night Rider; and he is a bit of fun on AGT. He really should do something. It’s sad, though I have to it’s funny. I really feel bad laughing about it – it’s an illness after all and he could’ve died – but I cannot help it. StevieCat – it’s funny.

He is very popular in Germany, if I am not mistaken, so he may believe he is great. In all fairness – we don’t hear ourselves the way other people hear us, so as long as nobody tells you honestly what they think, you can think you are great. Now, he must be listening to his own recordings, but we often hear what we want to.
Oh well, I hope he gets some help.

I never watched Knight Rider, but I loved to watch the commercials cuz he was so darned good looking.
I think the trouble with him is he doesn’t know what to do with the “off season” from AGT to fill his time. I think (or hope) he knows that if he were to have something like this happen during the show’s run on TV that he’d wake up to find a new format….a fourth judge in preparation to drop him the following year. He should pay attention to what happened to Paula Abdul.
