It’s that time again for all those interested in auditioning for America’s Got Talent. I’m personally very interested in having more people audition for America’s Got Talent, because the last season of America’s Got Talent was a little weak in my book. Sure there were a couple acts that were awesome, but over all it was just ho hum. Let’s hope that Season 5 of America’s Got Talent is better than last season.

Here’s the casting call video for America’s Got Talent 2010. This is the link to the official America’s Got Talent website. Let me know if you’re auditioning so we can hear about your experience.

I will be auditioning for “America’s Got Talent” sometime when they come to Texas. I have posted a video on YouTube, but it’s a first attempt.. I’m hoping to get more (better) videos on there soon. If interested… my story, videos, and more at http://www.AnnaEadie.com.

      Anna,
If that’s your dream you should absolutely follow it and enjoy the experience. Just remember that they’re not actually looking for the best talent, but to produce a show that is exciting and interesting. So, go and do your best and enjoy the whole process. Best of luck!

    5. # Anna Eadie commented on October 8th, 2009:

Thank you. I believe you are right! Exciting is going to take a lot more work! I’m on it!

    6. # Kim commented on October 19th, 2009:

I auditioned in Chicago on the 1st day. I got there at about 2:30 pm & finished @ 10:00. I was in the very last group to audition. Lots of fun. Great experience. the staff was helpful & friendly. Call backs are in January 2010!

    7. # John commented on October 19th, 2009:

      Kim,
Sounds like fun. Best of luck and let us know how it goes. We love when readers of the site make it to the show.

    8. # Tom Horneman commented on October 29th, 2009:

Does anyone know what kind of commitment is required if you get through to subsequent rounds? I can’t quit my job unless I make it all the way. I’ve heard that you’re pretty much committed to the show 24/7 until it’s over, but without pay.

    9. # John commented on October 29th, 2009:

I believe the first part is just a couple days off here and there. However, if you make it to the grand stage then it’s a couple weeks of working on your act. I know someone finally quit their job last season when they made the finals.

    10. # Tom commented on October 29th, 2009:

Thanks John; If I can make it to the finals then the job may have to go. That’s a tough decision, because there’s no guarantee of anything along the way, and I don’t think they pay you to be there. Does anybody know about that?

    11. # John commented on October 29th, 2009:

I don’t think they get paid to be there either. Just some standard per diem for food I imagine. However, I do know that Terry Fator had already signed a deal with the Hilton in Las Vegas before he even won the show. So, there are some possibilities that can make you feel good about quiting your job.

    13. # John commented on November 4th, 2009:

      Yvianna,
This is just a fan site. However, if you go to the official site you can upload a video and they’ll take a look at it. I can almost guarantee they won’t be going to el paso. However, like I said this is just a fan site.

Hello all. I love reading all the comments and stories here and wanted to put a little up about my experience.

Last season I sent in a Myspace Video audition and it actually aired for all of 4 seconds on the myspce episode…. so I decided this past October that I was going to take the risk and go audition for AGT season 5 in person. I am a ventriloquist and have done several local shows, but never anything like this. I took two of my bird puppets with me who sang a duet for the producers. The puppets and I did get a little extra camera time and were also pulled to the front of the group during the group shots so hopefully we will atleast be seen during the shows group shots. It was an amazing experience! there were so many people there with such great talent. If any of the people who auditioned with me on saturday read this, I would love to establish some contact to see how everything goes for you. Anyway, I am nervously awaiting info in January to see if I will be getting a callback (fingers crossed).

If anyone would be interested in seeing any of my stuff, you can find me on youtube at
      http://www.youtube.com/user/nomorebets73

Good luck to all who are trying out for season 5!!

    15. # Zaje' commented on November 30th, 2009:

I auditioned in Philly. I included my YT, but it was when I was in singing lessons. Not my best, but good nonetheless. ;)

    16. # John commented on November 30th, 2009:

      Zaje’,
The video sounds a little raw to me. Seems like you have potential to be good, but still could use some more refining of your voice. I loved when the comment popped up that said you had no emotion. Seemed like you were focusing a lot on singing and not performing for sure.

      Best of luck!

    17. # Zaje commented on November 30th, 2009:

Thanks John – I was made aware of my lack of stage presence & emotion, so I’m definitely working on it. The YT was for me to get used to being filmed & also finding my voice, so yes very raw lol. I’m still trying to post more, hopefully soon :)

I auditioned in NYC in October… do you know when they tell you? If you haven’t heard yet, is it kind of a bad sign?

    19. # John commented on December 12th, 2009:

      kate,
I haven’t heard any dates yet. At some point it will be a bad sign if you don’t hear anything. However, I think it’s still early.

    20. # Kelli commented on December 18th, 2009:

      Kate,

I auditioned in Philly in Oct and they told everyone that no one would no until after the first of the year. To quote, “Callbacks will be made some time after the first of the year and as late as the first of Spring. If you don’t hear anything by then, you haven’t made it. I know it’s such a long span, but I am guessing if nothing is heard by March, you didn’t make it. Good luck waiting… I am right there with you.

    21. # kate commented on December 18th, 2009:

      Thanks so much!

I auditioned as a comedian… not sure how it all works seeing as there was no camera in there… ?

    22. # Kelli commented on December 18th, 2009:

Do you remember how there were to people at the table? Well, one was who we were auditioning for… the other “staffer” was putting info in the computer that the “judge” was telling. That is the ONLY way they are remembering, by that information. Unless… maybe they had a webcam on us and we didn’t know. LoL

It is nerve racking waiting, isn’t it!

    23. # Anna Eadie commented on December 18th, 2009:

My town is having their own contest “Frisco’s Got Talent” by the Chamber of Commerce. It’s great way for me to practice- AGT auditions here in January. If you go to my site http://www.AnnaEadie.com you can click on the links to watch the auditions (I’m #4), vote, and read the articles that were published about the contest. It’s interesting and lets me see what I need to improve, what I should keep, I don’t like how I hold the mic and the cord, …..etc…
      Happy holidays!…anna

i auditioned…it was crazy. no one auditioned on time ! my audition was at 9 and i didn’t sing until about 2:30. but it was alot of good takent floating around here in philadelphia.

    25. # Kelli commented on December 27th, 2009:

I don’t think anyone’s audition was at 9. I think all of us that preregistered were told that so we would get there early and have a chance. I was there Sunday morning and was number 120. I had a blast. You are right though, it was crazy. But well worth the experience.

    26. # Anna Eadie commented on December 27th, 2009:

Can anyone who has auditioned help me out? We are auditioning Jan 30. in downtown Dallas, TX. I imagine we’ll be in line for hours and hours. I’m planning on taking a folding chair, one lunchbox with some snacks, one lunchbox type cooler with diabetic supplies, and a small purse with keys, phone, ID and money, and CD w/ music. Is there anything here they won’t let us take? I know we can’t wear logos or teams, but how about an Autism Awareness Ribbon or Breast Cancer ribbon??? Thank you! ….anna

    41. # Monty commented on January 8th, 2010:

I no longer see the FAQs that were posted on this site before the audition dates went up.

Just to confirm…we get 90 seconds and it’s acapella?

    42. # John commented on January 8th, 2010:

Good question Monty. Seems like the official site is down right now too. Weird that they’d take down the FAQ, but they were probably out of date or something.

My understanding was 90 seconds and acapella for singers. I think they also requested that it be a cover song. At least in past years that’s what they did.

    43. # John commented on January 8th, 2010:

Ok, the site came back and the FAQ is: http://americasgottalentauditions.com/new/faq Here’s their answer to your question:
“Generally, singers are asked to sing their one song a capella (without a backing track). We have found that backing tracks overpower vocals and hinder your audition instead of helping it.
However, you may use a backing track if you sing and dance at the same time. In addition, rappers can use their own beats. Otherwise, it is up to the Producer’s discretion if and when a track is permitted. Playing an instrument (for example a piano, guitar, etc.) while singing is always allowed.
You have UP TO 90 seconds for your audition, so you do not need to start your song at the beginning. Please pick a section of the song that best shows off your voice.”

Just wanted to let everyone know somethings about how this process works i went to audition last year on americas got talent. got there about 10am didnt leave until 7pm as we all know that we are going to wait…. if they tell you that you have an audition time of 11am this is just a time frame do not expect to go in and be out by 1130am its not going to happen so i auditioned and left about 7 came back home and when i woke up the next morning day after the audition i had a message on my phone from one of the staff there at agt. it said that they wanted me to come back there and sing another song so i quickly jumped into the car and left..(the message was left about 5-10 minutes after i had auditioned my phone but my phone was messed up no service i guess) so when we got there i told them that someone had called and told me to come back so of corse they looked at me like i was crazy! they said we dont do that here but i saved the message like any of u should do if this happens! so one of the people i had seen on the staff the day before had come down and listen to it.. he said i think i know who this is so give me a minute he came back down.. I didnt haft to wait in the line of thousands they took me to a roped of elevator with security escort and placed me right at the judge that i auditioned for .. so i sang a few songs he wanted me to song something up to date i did and he said ok could u wait outside i need you to do somemore things i went to another room and outside the room had my picture taking etc there were four judges at this table and i was in this room about 45 mins they told me to wait also as i did about 4 songs for them i then went to this british lady with a camra before i saw here they asked me information about where i lived what was the closest airport and handed me a book of songs and said pick three songs so i did and i went to the british lady afterwards she wanted me to sing for her i did and she went and did a 2hr interviewwith me after it was finished i was the last to be intervied that day i got there around 12 and stayed untill about 10p so as the auditiones were over they said all call backs had been called back but thanks for coming (this is waht it said on the website) so three months had passed by and i get this call saying will you be able to make it to a city we i told them yes and they said i was on stanby and i said what does this mean and she said that other people from diffrent states could be called in also to auditon for the celeb judges so another city had went by still heard nothing from them.. they called and said can u be at the airport by tommorrow morning i said yes they had my ticket at the airport and i kept intouch with this man on a daily basis got to the hotel it was at least 10 stars you saw everyone that was going to see the judges at the hotel also it was very fun they pay for flight and hotel which is 3 days at the hotel im tired of typing but i will let you know what else happend at some point also key things here is wait at least 30 mins in the car after u audition in case they call you back make sure you have service also! never give up on a call back until it is the last audition city! always have your phone on you because they eill call you at odd times such as morning and night AND IT WILL BE AN 818 NUMBER if you didnt make it to a room an audition by urslef (no one else in the room but you) ur chances arent looking good but you may never no but like i said i will post more if u need help or have any ?s please email me hunterjoy08@yahoo.com i hope the owner of this site will let you guys email me because i can give you pointers

Has anyone been call back yet?

    46. # Namula commented on January 9th, 2010:

No disrespect, but I have never heard of such a thing. A good friend of mine got through to the celeb judging and nothing like this happened. Everything went just the way they said it would at the auditions. Phone call you are in, no phone call… you aren’t. He got his phone call a few months later and went to the same city where he had auditioned to perform for the celebs.

Sorry, but your 45 minutes of singing and 2 hour interview sound a little far fetched. And this isn’t just from what you are typing, but from my chatting with some of the people who auditioned (in front of celeb judges) with my friend and with whom he stays in contact with.

      Nice story though… highly entertaining.

    48. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 10th, 2010:

On3ofakind, you were on stage with Nick and sang for the judges last season? which episode where you on? Last year I didn’t get a call back to audition for the judges, but they did use a video of me on the show (episode 9 I believe it was) in the opening montage and I didn’t know that they were going to use that until the week of the show when one of the producers called me to tell me.
I know from my experience in this years auditions, that there where 4 people in the room where I auditioned for season 5 and they said we would hear something (if we were to hear something) in January. now, I am not a singer but a veriety act and we all auditioned one at a time, so I am not sure I would need to come back in for a seperate audition as I already did it alone. I know that I did not get a 1 on 1 interview, but from what I saw, the people they were interviewing were not all that special (lol). I also know that I got alot of camera time in the crowd shots and am standing at Nick’s right side for 1/2 of them…. so I am hopefull if they wanted to use me for shots with Nick or intro shots that they will be giving me a shot…. but who knows.
All I can say is keep your phone on and look for 818 calls cause ya never know what is gonna happen till it happens. I wish everyone all the luck in the world.

I know for a fact this could have happened. I went throught the two auditions and the 2 hour interview as well. While I was waiting a guy came up who audtitioned the day before. He told them he received a call to come back. They let him sing for his second audition and then had him stay for the 2 hr interview. This happened last year in Chicago.

    54. # On3ofakind commented on January 10th, 2010:

mary so did u get a call back last year

    55. # John commented on January 10th, 2010:

      Tom,
Last year it was only a few days in advance if I remember right. As On3ofakind said, just plan on being ready to go either day if possible. The fact is that many people just walk up without being registered. At least that’s what happened in many cities. I guess it’s possible that some cities have so many people that they won’t accept you. However, I bet in most places you’ll at least get a chance to audition for one of the lower level producers even if you just walk up. They want to see as much talent as possible. That’s why they have all the various level of producers screening the talent. That’s why they allow the online video submissions, etc.

    56. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 12th, 2010:

My question is this. With the singers, they audition in groups and then get asked to come back and sing solo…. but what about us veriety acts? when I auditioned it was solo in a room with 3 people at a table and one camera girl. Does anyone know if veriety acts just do the one solo audition and then wait for the magic call to go before the celebrity judges? I know that when I auditoned, the line of veriety acts was not very long as a majority of people auditioning were singers. I am so nervous!!!

    57. # John commented on January 12th, 2010:

      Mr. Lucky,
No one can really answer this. Every combination under the sun could happen.

Here’s my take from what I’ve seen and heard. AGT classifies the various auditions. For example, if they invited you to come, then they won’t put you through the initial screening process. I’m sure there are other factors as well that will have you skip the initial screening process. If this is the case, they might skip you up to a higher level producer right away. In fact, from the experiences I’ve heard it seems like they’re might be 3 or more levels of producers. Each one is progressively more powerful and the lower level ones kind of act as filters so only the “best” (and probably “worst”) acts make it to the top producer. So, I think there’s a ton of factors at work. Some people they make go through all the “filters” and others they send right to the top to audition.

At least this is my take on it. I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts.

    58. # Zaje commented on January 12th, 2010:

So basically, if we didn’t get called back 2 hours after our first audition, don’t get our hopes up huh?
      Oh well.

    59. # John commented on January 12th, 2010:

I don’t think that’s the case either Zaje. I think there’s even cases where producers go through the video footage later and see if there was something they missed that they’d like to see again. Or possibly a type of act that they hadn’t found and they want to make the show better. I’ve even heard of some people getting called and asked to fly to another city to audition. You never know for sure until they post it on their site that the auditions are over.

    60. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 12th, 2010:

With the New York and Chicago auditions, people were told and it was (and still is) that “Only those acts that are moving on in the competition will be notified starting in Jan. 2010″ , so this gives me hopes that starting in January, people will get a call to return to NYC or another Venue to auditon for the Judges. Why would they post something like that and get peoples hopes of if they already did the call backs and had no intention of doing them at a later date. I am sure that every venue is differant and as it gets closer to show time the call backs are done on the spot where the early dates like NYC and chicago have a much longer wait time. I refuse to surrender to thought I am not getting a call back until the show airs and I am not on it.

    61. # Zaje' commented on January 12th, 2010:

Well that brightened my spirits John. I & others thought I did well, but the postings here made me think I should expect the worst. Mr. Lucky & think I’ll adopt your attitude until the show airs also :) *Whew!*

I think it’s ok to expect the worst and hope for the best. One word of caution though. This isn’t a show about talent. It’s a show about entertaining people. So, certainly there are talented people that make it on the show. However, there are also a TON of talented people that never make it on the TV show. The producers are just trying to produce a product that people will watch on TV. That may sound a bit cynical, but it’s just the realities of their job.

Moral of the Story: Whether you make it on the show or not doesn’t determine if you’re talented or not.

we didnt even have a camera in the room when we auditioned in philly. any body els have that experence?

    65. # joe commented on January 12th, 2010:

we had about 15 acts in the room and good ones too. no one got called back into the room .we were told if we were to go on we would be notified in january or march.

    66. # On3ofakind commented on January 12th, 2010:

The other talents other than singing i do think get to audition in the room by themselves the other act that are not singers i do belive get to audition solo when you get your papres when you audition you will have a mark in the top right hand or left corner such as S for singers M for musicans D for dancer so on so forth….. If you didnt get a call back within two hours LOL you still have a shot everyone does this dosent mean they wont pick you it just gives ur odds a much better chance if you look on the website AFTER the auditions it will tell you that “those moving on to the next round will be notified eithin so many weeks THEN it will say all call backs have been notified!!!! i too had given up hope and recived a call to fly out to see the cleb judges in another city 3 MONTHS LATER but i did go through several rooms when on my FIRST audition… You people should no if you have talent or not!!!!! lets wake up here you cant go in and sing the hit song from annie and expect to make it!!!! You haft to put your own twist on a song and be creative and powerful song selection goes a long way here you haft to hit them with a powerful note from the beginning of your song so you know that you have there full attention and there not staring off or taling to the person the whole time you audition this is not only comming from a singer but industry wise theres no need to be nervous about the auditions just go and do what you came to do… no they are not going to pay you money to cover your bills and etc if you make it on tv YOU choose to come and audition just think how many people are out there that would love to have people voting for them so lets no be selfish here

    67. # On3ofakind commented on January 12th, 2010:

CORRECT they will tell you that they will call you do you think they want you to see them calling someone back into the room that would hurt alot of peoples fellings if they do call you back it will be on your cell phone more than likley and then maybe they will call you back in a few weeks OR maybe you wont get a call thats how this show works!!! so stay a few minutes outside to see if they might call you back to come and sing a few more songs there not just gonna send you to the celeb judges just off one song (maybe they will) they want to be able you can sing more than just that one song you have been pract on for months so make sure you have a few back up songs incase they want you to sing something else i sang two songs for one judge and got moved to another room and sang four more for more judges keep in mind that little bitty americas got talent sign they have when u stand in front of when you audition got bigger and bigger

    68. # kelli commented on January 13th, 2010:

Joe… I was in Philly as well and there were no cameras. In my group (singers) there were ten of us. I had the opportunity of hearing someone who would be for entertain purposes ONLY! HA! Anyway, when all were finished auditioning we were told that NO ONE would hear anything until as early as after the first of the year and as late as Spring. Also, there was person, a little girl, who was asked to come back into the room after we all had left. She was good, not phenominal, but good… strong voice for her age.
John… I have been working a lot of hours lately and haven’t had a chance to get a video of myself singing up, but I will as soon as I can.

I definitely understand the fact that they do have to make a show out of it – I don’t doubt my talent but sheesh! TV time would aid ALL of us in our quest of bringing our talent to the world for all to see. Still crossing fingers & praying ^_^

    71. # kelli commented on January 13th, 2010:

Starting to think that the call won’t come since I wasn’t called back into the room or didn’t receive a phone call immediately. So many things said here that were told to us differently at the audition.

Quick funny story… I went out with some friends for karaoke the other night and he was videotaping me so I could send you something fresh. Just as i start singing a bar fight broke out between two women! I just kept singing… what sucks is that it was so dark in there that you can’t see me or the fight, but you sure can hear it. It was, to say the least, entertaining. I might not post the whole thing, but I might edit it and just upload the second half of the song.
(i’m at work and have everything done for the day… boredom strikes so I revert to holding conversations with fellow AGT fans. What a life!)

    72. # John commented on January 13th, 2010:

      kelli,
That’s a great story. Too bad you can’t see the fight. If you could, that would be a YouTube hit for sure.

Nothing wrong with talking AGT when you’re done with your work. Instead of just making comments, you should start blogging about it. I’m always looking for good people to write about AGT if you’re interested.

      Joe,
I assume you mean this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_HIYk09jR8 Not too bad. A little boring for an audition I think. Probably won’t wow the judges. The song could work well in a future round when you talk about you doing it your way. IMHO

    76. # Tom commented on January 15th, 2010:

      Joe,

I just watched your video. You’ve got a great voice. I hate to think that I might be competing with you. I’ll be auditioning in Dallas at the end of the month. Sorry, no videos of me available.

One thing to think about; there’s a whole bunch of Elvis singers out there. Why not take that great voice and make other songs your own, not Elvis songs.

I don’t want anyone to compare me to someone else. I want to be different. My thing is that I’ll be performing all my own original music. Good luck Joe. Hopefully we’ll meet in Hollywood or Vegas.

    77. # John commented on January 15th, 2010:

      Tom,
If you go the original music route, the song better be something incredible. Otherwise, the show would rather have you do a cover I believe. It makes sense if you think about it. The show wants to be as entertaining as possible. So, they don’t want to put original music on there that hasn’t been “tested” and be shown to be popular. I think the show likes the comparison’s that TV viewers can do and they like that people will already have an emotional connection with the song as well. Anyway, that’s my personal take on cover songs versus original music.

      John,

I made it pretty far in the first audition and they said it would be a good sign that I would make it through. Question however. I haven’t heard anything yet. At this point should I keep my hopes up or realize that its not going to happen? I’m ready for the show no matter what. Also, will they contact me over email or by phone?

    79. # John commented on January 15th, 2010:

      Blake,
Let me introduce my every other post disclaimer that this is just a fan site and that I don’t represent the show, fremantle media, NBC etc etc etc.

I think there’s always a chance until the auditions are over and posted that they’re over on the official website. Plus, I don’t think that they’ve even done the celebrity auditions yet.

I’m not certain about email or phone, but most of the people I’ve heard talk about it say they got a phone call.

Goodness no. The more the merrier. I created this site as a place for people to discuss America’s Got Talent. Right now the most interesting discussion is around the auditions. So, that’s cool with me. I think I’ll start a new thread where people can ask questions and then I’ll ask the AGT producers to respond. What do you guys think? Hopefully they will respond;-)

    84. # Kelli commented on January 15th, 2010:

      John,
When you all talk about the “first round”, are you talking about the city auditions? And exactly what all happens before you actually perform for the celeb judges?
Also, I have a question that I would love to ask you, but not in a public forum, is there another way to get a hold of you? If you run this site, you should be able to see my personal email address… I promise, not to abuse your kindness. :)

      Joe,
I am a huge fan of Elvis and well… it sounds like a recording I have heard before. I am NOT disrespecting you in the least, but it is uncanny.

    85. # John commented on January 15th, 2010:

      Kelli,
Only the producers of the show really know the process(and I am NOT a producer). In fact, I bet that the producers change the process as needed in order to produce the best show.

What we do know from everyone that’s auditioned is that there’s a “first round” of auditions that are done without the celebrity judges. In the first round, you might see one judge or multiple judges. Presumably these are various levels of producers that are filtering the talent so only the best (or I guess worst) is seen by the higher level producers. Then, from those auditions the show will invite people to come and audition in a “second round” where the celebrity judges will be involved.

Then, after that they choose those going to Las Vegas. Then, it’s been a little different each year from that point. Sometimes they perform again in Las Vegas. Last year they just chose who was going to LA. Then, they go through, Top 40, Top 20, Top 10, Top 4 (or some variation of this) in LA.

At least that’s the best I can make of it from people commenting on here. Granted, I’m just a fan of the show, so take it for what it’s worth.

    89. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 16th, 2010:

Well if what On3ofakind says is true, that they do multiple stages of audition right at the city level and if you get up to the interview that your in, then why tell everyone that they will be starting callback in January? Why make thousands of people like us sit at our computers and hope if the call is not coming. I honestly don’t believe they are that cold hearted. If they know that only the people that make it up the ladder of stages are moving on, then just come out and say TY but no TY.
To bee 100% honest, I think that some of what on3ofakind may be true for his experience, it is a little disconcerning when it comes to the hopes of those of us who are wondering if that call is still coming. Next he will tell us there is no Santa Claus.
Last year I sent in a video audition, and they actually called me a week before the show to tell me that I was not moving on, but that they were going to air my audition. For me that was an awesome honor. So my advice is NEVER give up hope. There is always a chance and if you don’t make it this season, try harder next season!

    90. # kelli commented on January 16th, 2010:

Mr. Lucky, I am with you on this one. I seriously can’t see these people saying, “No calls will be made til after the first of the year, and as late as Spring. If you hear something you are in. We do not call if you didn’t make it.” and then call people that same day. Not to knock the on3ofa down, but it just doesn’t seem like something they would do. I think it is in everyone’s best interest (and to keep your sanity) to listen to what you were told after your audition. That is what I am doing. To be honest, the experience of auditioning in itself was amazing for me. And we all have to remember the entertainment value of the show. Some people that are just HORRIBLE are going to go on… just so, and I hate to say this, so they can be laughed at and humiliated. But hey, it’s show business.

WOW, I don’t have to say I think you are arrogant or think you are a god… cause you said it all yourself. I am happy for you and the fact that you are so awesome at what you do. I know how the entertainment industry works, cause I work in it and I deal with self inflated entertainers like yourself on a daily basis. And I can say this much, If I tell people that I am going to look though all the auditions and videos and start notifying people in a few months, then that is how I am going to do it. not pick the first person who walks in the doors and lie to the rest. Also for someone who could blow away 95% of the people here… you didn’t make it very far last season. Stop raining on other peoples parades , this is all about hopes and dreams, This my friend is the business of peoples hearts, deal with it, wake up and smell the hope.

    96. # John commented on January 16th, 2010:

No doubt there’s lots of different opinions on this. The reality is that this is a TV show and the producers and trying to be entertaining. The fact is they’ll do whatever they need to do to increase ratings. If you get a call back it doesn’t necessarily mean your good. It could mean your awful. Or it could mean you’re ok with a great story. Or it could mean you’re great. They’re looking for all of those “storylines” that they can tell on the show.

At the end of the day a lot of it is subjective and a lot isn’t even about talent (Kevin Skinner was a good example). Just enjoy the ride and know that until they post that auditions are over on the official AGT site (for which this website is not), then you have a chance. It might be more or less based on how many people you saw, but there’s always a chance. You never know who might dig back in the archives looking for a cute little girl (or insert other type) to audition for the celebrity judges to round out a city. Fact is that only 40 will really make it to LA. Not very good chances.

Also On3ofakind, it’s a million dollar annuity (something like 20-25k per year). Still would be amazing to win, but not quite as good as $1 million cash.

WoW! All I can say is… WoW! First, 3ofakind… you do realize that you could be just as bad as you think you are good and that is why they called you back. This show is NOT about who is the most talented, it is about ratings and entertainment. This is NO American Idol.
Second, I auditioned in Philly, in a group of ten other singers, in a room with one producer/judge/whatever who had a staff member with a laptop sitting beside her. I kept her attention the 90 seconds. When I was finished she smiled at me and said, “Very impressive. Thanks”. After we all had our turn she told us what I have said over and over… “We are telling nobody anything right now. Calls start as early as the first of the year to as late as Spring.”
Third, we all fill out paperwork prior to auditioning, why would they ask your address if it is right there in front of them?
And lastly… you are arrogant and rude. I have never listened to anybody more full of themselves than I have you. You come into this wonderful blogging area and attempt to crush the dreams of many because you feel you could, and let me quote, “… could blow 95% of you out the water with my voice.” Honey bring it! You have been talking smack for days and days now with nothing to back it up. What is your name? Where can we view the QUEEN? I will bet you that I can blow YOU out of the water, for I am real. I love music. I love to sing. I sing because of the way it makes me feel inside. I hear beauty in other who sing from their soul. It’s not about money… it is about sharing something that I love dearly with others. I feel sorry for you…. I really do. You don’t know music, you know only about arrogance and cruelty. Karma is real and you have such bad karma. I can feel it from where I sit when I read what you write to others. Sad… so, so sad.

For everyone else, I can’t verify or discredit what On3ofakind is saying or what anyone else on here says. So, take it for what it’s worth. Either way, it won’t affect the decisions the producers make;-) Just enjoy the experience and the speculation.

    105. # Kelli commented on January 16th, 2010:

My only point here is that you feel you are better than the rest of us. You have never heard me and I have never heard you, so nobody can judge. As John stated, you could be phenomenal and not get called back, it is all about the story.
I can take criticism just fine. I actually love it. You can only get better by hearing what it is you do wrong. I have been a singer for many years. I have had the opportunity to sing back up and lead vocals for bands and have won a few competitions in my tri state area. I know I can sing, just as I am sure you know you can. But I would never tell people that since they didn’t get called back in 5 minutes that they more than likely didn’t get chosen. Life can be hard enough as it is and smashing the hopes and dreams of individuals who believe what was told to them is just not cool.
I believe that I gave the best performance of my life the day that I auditioned. I had never been more proud of myself. Just the fact that I went all the way to Philly and had the opportunity to try out is satisfaction enough. And to know that I did so well, well…. all’s good. :)
I wish you the best… is there somewhere we can go to hear you? YouTube? I’ll have something up soon. I can’t wait to share.
      Take care all!

Just wanted to point out that on the AGT official auditions website, they did update the NYC audition info on January 15th. It says that auditions are still being evaluated and that no decisions have been made yet.

I auditioned in chicago of 2oo9 and I must say it was the most adventerous thing I’ve done in life. I’ve only just turned 16 and I love singing. I had always been a fan of agt so when I heard about auditions I signed up early. I hadn’t even told my mom yet lol. And they called mefor auditions when I was in school. Me and my mom worked on songs and everything. I think I got there on a sat. at like 4 or 5 in the morning. Me, my mom, sister, brother, cousin, and friend. I even lost my voice becuase we had to stand outside in the pouring rain and cold. And ya kno, even if I dnt get a call bak (which will be very disappointing), the entire experience was enough for me. I met a lot of great people. Sang with this one operatic woman haha and played with others and it was just great. I mean being there technically all day was nerve racking, but when we were kept in this big room, that’s where I had the most fun. I’m positive I did good and I tried my best. And that’s all that matters. I kno I’m just a teen and mostly people that have commented have been adults but seriously, some stuff I’ve read has been just rude. I mean, no 1 should be getting angry or concieted or just crazy. 1- its just a show. 2- not you or sum other auditoneer can tell you if your gonna get a call back or not based on your audtion. My cousin auditioned last season with a group and didn’t audition twice that day but she got her callbacks months later. And my bestfriend auditioned 3 times and still didn’t get her call back. Even though she was interviewed and everything. So all you gotta do is hope for the best and let faith handle the rest. Plus there’s always next season. And not to be mean but if people are only doing the show for the money shouldn’t be on it. I 16. Love money. But when it comes to my singing, I could care less. You were given your talent 2 share with others. But if you use it in greed then nothin goods gonna happen. BUT anywhoo, I just wanted 2 say anyone auditioning, good luck and have fun. I kno I did lol. And if anyone gets a call bak can I plz be emailed? It wud be a big help. Especially if you auditioned in chicago. THNXS and good luck 2 every1 :)

On3ofakind, when you were sent to perform in front of celebrity judges were you sent to a location that were also doing general auditions? Also, I think people need to realize that he did not get called back for the next round with the celebrity judges within 5 minutes he got called back to perform again in front of exectuive producers which I saw happen this year.

correct liz i got called back to peform again at the same audition location for more judges.. and no they flew me out to another audition city to meet the cleb judges but it took me 3months to get a call back from them even though they had asked me for flight information but they did call a few times and say i was on stand by for a few cities to meet the judges

    111. # On3ofakind commented on January 18th, 2010:

i just would like to make it clear here that getting an interview does not mean they ask you what are you going to sing today. is the sky is blue now someone people will get a call back even thought they auditioned one time but i have been trying to tell you people that there are diffrent levels when you audition also and when you reach the interview and they ask for flight information you can bet 5 million dollars that you WILL be getting to see the cleb judges but they might be doing things diffrent this year who knows im just telling you form what i saw that day it was more than me that were getting there flight information written down but they did not interview people that had groups it was just solo people like singers thats all i saw so i dont know if you all wil get a call back i am just telling you people THAT I AM NOT CRAZY OR MAKING THIS STUFF UP!!!!!!!!!!! I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT for all of you people who are trying to down play what i am saying go ahead fine and for the ones that have emailed me and WANT to know what goes on the please fill free to ask i am not trying to shatter any dreams but if i were you i would like to know what was going on.. but do this when you go audition look around when they call your numbers to sit outside the room before you go audition look to your left right front and back you will see just what im talking about AND THERES NO NEED TO ASK ANYONE THAT WORKS THERE OR ANY OF THE JUDGES BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THEY WILL DENI IT but i some of you will do just that your going to say well i heard or someone told me that there or more steps but trust me there going to assure you that its all hear say… beacuse thats what they get payed to do

    112. # John commented on January 18th, 2010:

      On3ofakind,
You also should note that they might even ask for your personal information and flight information and then still never get a call back. If someone like Simon sees something they like or hate down the road, then he can change whatever the producers might have told you at your audition.

my audition seemed to go well but im a singer and i try to keep in mind that this isnt a show looking for just singers which lowers my chances, and i also keep in mind that not just people that are really good will be called back so if we dont get called back it doesnt mean we werent good enough it just means that they had enough for a certain group(singers, dancers, comedians, jugglers, etc) or they decided to pick someone who maybe isnt as good. i am with you all anxiously waiting to see what happens. when i went in the room they said “we are telling everybody this,we will be on hiatus until january, we will be calling starting janurary into march,we wont call you if you arent going to the next round” all i ask is that i get the call,i would like to go futher but i would atleast like to get to the point of performing for the judges. Good luck everyone and never give up

Hi. I auditioned in Philadelphia as a Lady Gaga impressionist. (My act is all about the spirit of Lady Gaga’s work and the a complete Lady Gaga performance.) If anyone auditioned on Oct. 26 you probably would have recognized me. I didn’t really blend in very well. :) Which i think helped me land an interview. i was held til the very end of the day when i had shown up at 9:00 AM. I sang 3 songs during my audition – one singing and dancing and the other two on piano. The best part about it was that I am a guy so that threw alot of people off. haha. but this means absolutely everything to me and my family. My phone number was changed from the time of the audition and I am worried that if I do get a callback they are unable to reach me. My email address has been the same so will they email me? Has anyone heard of this happening? Thanks so much. And tell me if you remember me! :)

i have a concern,i see alot of people stating that they sang 3 songs and i only sang one but i keep playing my audition over and over in my head and they asked if i can sing anything else but i was so nervous that i told them other songs ive sang rather than show them and now i think back that maybe they were aksing me to sing another song, although they seemed impressed with the one song im hoping i didnt mess this up.

Well, I auditioned today in L.A….let me tell you it was alot of fun, and very exhausting lol. We got there about 5:45 and we were 71 in line, which was awesome!!! Had no problem registering and then went to the waiting room….they were very concerned about noone taking pics, though im not sure why….it was just a room..four walls, a ceiling and a floor..pretty ordinary…lol
Anyway, then we were taken downstairs to film for the promo….omg I was exhausted by the end of that…it seemed to go on forever, but it was a cool experience. Then straight to the auditions….lined up according to talent….and taken into rooms in groups of ten. We were told to stand on line of tape on the floor next to each other and they called us one by one…up to an x in the center of the room, “state your name, age, where your from, and what song you will sing” you were given 90 secs and then back to the line. Afterward we were told to wait a few mins but then were told we were done and thanks for coming. I did see a guy in another group get called back in to sing again, and told to wait to sing again. Im beginning to think that if you dont get asked to sing again your chances of actually getting called to the next round are pretty slim…I dont want to give up hope but just trying to be realistic. Well ive just narrated my day, lol….im hoping it will help someone with questions about there upcoming audition, and I have a question for anyone that may know, or have an opinion…if you were not asked to sing again, do you think there is still a chance for a call back? Give it to me straight please…anyway thanks, good luck to everyone who auditions…..it was a blast, met alot of talented people and I am not sorry I went…God bless!!!!

once again WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR weeks has been proved someone noticed that someone got called back into a room hmmmmm but they tell everyone that they will start call backs at a certain date. im not going to tell you people what you wanna hear im going to tell you what you need to hear lisa to be honest i doubt it.. theres a small chance but not alot of hope.. there are diffrent stages you haft to go to when you audition everone thinks you just sing a song for 90 seconds and they will either call you back in so many weeks and everything thing is just dandy but it dosent work like that. when i went i had to go back into the room after everyone had left the auditioned and left and sing two more songs which the producer picked the artist he would like me to sing from he then said wait out side we need you to do a few more things i then was escorted by a worker from agt to a table where they asked my name address etc then had a picture taken i had to sing more songs for more judges in this room also after that they told me i had an awesome voice and they liked me so they took me to a office kinda room and asked me to pick three songs out of the book that had been cleard by agt IF(which i kinda knew at this point that i would get to see the judges) i was going to see the celeb judges then they asked for my address made a copy of my licsene and asked what was the nearest air port i could fly out of so then i went a few feet away and there were two ladies sitting and she asked could i sing for her i did and she did an interview she got a chair and all of the film crew out where people were wating to go into the room to auditon and did a interview after i was finished she said you haft to wear the same thing when you get the call back but she let it slip and then cleaned it up by saying if you get a call back now i dont know if some of you people think im lying or what but this is the real world and there are more steps to see the judges! its just like american idol many people think when you audition you just walk right in to paula simon randy etc but you haft to go through about 5 auditions before you see them and there not all in one day… so americas got talent wants to be sure that when you get infront of the celeb judges that this is the best act or for some the worst thats why they have the producers at these auditions put people through all of these hurdels to see of they have what it takes to get to these judges beacuse the judges would be wore out if they had to listen to all of these singers and watch all the other acts this should be plain and simple for most. if you didnt get to audition again then your chances are pretty much gone but theres a small hope because they do send the audition tapes from every audition to be viewed by th top of the top in califorina

For those of you who have had to sing several songs for the audition, are they wanting to hear different genere’s? Like if you mostly sing country, do you need to keep all songs country or maybe sing pop as another choice for song? I was just wondering what everyone else was doing that had been asked to come back in and sing a second or third song. Thank You!!

those that are called back to perform again i think are performing the same thing just for a different panel of people.

    120. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 25th, 2010:

ON3OFAKIND, no one is calling you a lier, we are simply saying that what happened to you MAY not always be Fact. Yes, people were asked to come back in and sing more songs, that does not mean that they are the only people moving on. Yes, people got interviews, but that may or may not mean they are advancing. Because it happened to you, does not mean that is what happens every time. I know for a fact that last year I was called after auditions were closed and told that my video was being reviewed and then I was called again a week before the show and told I was not advancing but my video was going to be aired in a montage, so I know that they DO review the videos or I would have never had that oportunity. You also have to remember that there are more then just singers in this contest. They are not going to ask every juggler to juggle in a differant way, or dancers to dance to a differant song. The reason singers have to come back in is because they sing in a group and a few need to be singled out to hear if they are good or bad in a solo situation. Being asked back into the room to sing another song is NOT a callback, it’s an opportunity to give you a solo audition, something that us veriety acts already get the first time.
You also have to remember that differant cities audition at differant times. Some are in the fall and some are in the spring. They are not going to tell everyone in the fall that they are or are not advancing and expect them to not say anything about it until they come back before the judges in the spring. So yes, they are going to tell people that we will be contacting you when it gets closer to the date of return.
I am glad that you have come here and told your story, it helps to hear what has and has not happened in the past. But I will stand firm in my belief that your comments to people that if they did not get asked to sing again or if they were not asked what airport they live near, that they will not be advancing is inappropriate and down right rude. You have made it your position to “not tell people what they need to hear, but what they have to hear”. Well, maybe we want to have hope, maybe we want to think we may or may not be getting that phone call, maybe we want to believe in ourselves without your personal oninions on who will and will not be called back.
I would also like to remind you that last year they changed all the rules and brought back wild card contestants after Simon reviewed the audition tapes. The rules are always changing in the entertainment industry.

To everyone who auditioned I say this. Each and every one of you stepped into the spotlight and poured your heart out to the judges. Some of you will make it and some of you won’t. This does not necessarily mean that you are the best or the worst but that you stood out in a way that you were picked to participate in one of the best contest around. If you do not get picked to move on it does not mean that you are without talent and in no way should you consider this as a failure. Above all, do not let the comments of others darken your hopes and dreams. Good Luck to you all!

And as for last season and the season before that – I know they changed alot of the rules. You can tell just by the FAQ’s from previous season auditions.

      So lets all hope. :)

All this back and forth bickering is nonsense…
This is what the AGT website says in the “Frequently asked questions” for the 2010 auditions:

Q: “I already auditioned in one city, but I got a phone call or email asking me to audition in another city. Must I audition again?”
A: “If you pre-register with us online, we make every effort to ensure that we see your talent. If our records indicate you missed your audition, we will try to contact you via email or phone to let you know about other cities where we are holding auditions. Occasionally the records may not match up right. There maybe a typo in the record, for instance, or you used a different email address to pre-register than what you provided us the day you had your audition.

IF YOU ALREADY HAD A FIRST ROUND AUDITION, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AUDITION AGAIN UNLESS YOU ARE MOVING ON IN THE COMPETITION. IF YOU ARE MOVING ON, WE WILL BE VERY CLEAR THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO MOVE TO THE NEXT ROUND.

PLEASE DISREGARD ANY EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS INVITING YOU TO ANOTHER CITY, IF YOU ALREADY AUDITIONED.”

Everyone please listen to this. I don’t comment alot of on here, but I feel I need to now. First of all everyone needs to stop telling each other they are being down right rude, etc. On3ofakind I know for a fact is just trying to help. Someone asked him to tell them straight up what he thought would be of their outcome, so he did. He was not being rude. I I have personally found his information very useful.

As I’m sure all of you are, I am getting very impatient with waiting for a callback, but I know what happens happens and its all for a purpose. So please stop bickering back and forth and lets focus on encouraging each other through this process. Remember, by you all taking the step to go audtion has shown your dedication to the love of your talent. Keep it up and if you don’t get through, do not get mad, just realize it wasn’t your time. Maybe you are supposed to do something else or maybe this show isn’t the show to bring forth your talent.

All in all, lets encourage, not call each other names or say one is rude or disrespectful. It doesn’t help anyone.

Personally, I want to say thank you to On3ofakind AND Mr. Lucky for what you both had to say. Neither one of you is rude or disrespectful, so please for the sake of the others, do not bring each other down. Lets keep our comments completely positive.

MR LUCKY gettin a call back from one of the producers to come back in an sing is not a call back CORRECT it dosent matter about you singing in a room with 12 people or a 1000 if you are good or something caught there intrest it is clear that they called you back to hear more is not like everyone is talking while you are auditioning because everyone is quiet and shows respect… during this time which you have 90 seconds the judges attention is on you unless you can not sing ,act, juggle,or dance… and im assuming that its just a coincidence that somepeople i was talking to in the hotel i was at while i was going to see the cleb judges went through the same thing or similar…. or have you ever thought of the diffrent people that post here that they have actually seen people going back in to another room or themselves being called back in to do a song…. so obviously that part of the show or “RULE” hasent changed ! so i think its far from it just happend to me.. i was just so special that i was the only one it happend too this is called a process…And they called you because they didnt want you to sue them because your video was being played without your permission….AND if everyone has BLOWN these judges away like they post then there shouldnt be any doubt that eveyone on here will get a call back so why is everone on pins and needles?(if you blew them away dont worry about it)
you ask for anwsers i give them you ask me to be honest and i give truth MR LUCKY did you make it to the celeb judges? so i dont think you would know how this whole process works its just ironic that people email me saying they have had pictures taken and they have been called back and asked to sing more songs so maybe there lying and it has been in cities that some of you have auditioned in or maybe it just happend to the 15 people that have emailed me they just decided to say hey! we are going to treat you better than everyone else that has auditioned here today!! i mean help me understand because maybe im not getting it… and for that one that moved if you have talent they will by all means FIND you some way somehow so lets quit the ganging up here because you will NOT win against me i have facts to back up everyhting i say and if im not mistaken i have made it further than some on this site so it should be evident that i know what im talking about im not going to keep comming on here to defend what is being said you have my email use it to hold a conversation lets not keep fueding on this wonderul site

    133. # John commented on January 27th, 2010:

Ok, so it doesn’t matter if someone comes on here and tells a great story (true or not). That’s part of the fun of it all. Take it all in stride. If you want to make a judgement about someone else, keep it to yourself. At the end of the day, no one really knows what the show is going to do. Everyone’s experience is different and the show isn’t always consistent for a lot of reasons. The show might fly you all the way out there and then never show you on TV because they don’t like what you did on camera. They’ll do whatever they want to make the show have higher ratings.

So, as I said before, just share your experience please. Don’t talk about the credibility of others experiences. Otherwise, I’m bringing out the ax.

On3ofakind can’t be half bad. They said this is a “wonderful site.” lol

    136. # Mr. Lucky commented on January 28th, 2010:

John, you have a wonderful site. I am not here to argue with anyone or try to one up anybody. I came to this site and shared my experiences, I posted my videos and I wished everyone luck. I never said anything that anyone posted was was fictional, I simply asked people not to tell people “they would or wouldn’t be advancing” as no one actually knows this information for a fact yet (unless these people are producers and is just not telling us). I auditoned in NYC and I did the best I could. I am absolutly waiting on pins and needles to see if I get called back, not because I have any doubt in my performance, but because I know for a fact that there are thousands of people out there with Talent who also gave it their best and each one of us has the same chance of making it. I just want to appoligize for voicing my opinion about people being allowed to hold onto the hope of making it verses being told they don’t have a chance, as obviously some people know who is advancing before the announcements are already made. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share and take care.

    137. # John commented on January 28th, 2010:

      Mr. Lucky,
I think encouraging comments like yours are fine. I think this is a great place to encourage people. We can also share our opinions about their talents if they ask (which we’ve often done on other threads). It’s like you said, we don’t know the final judgement so no need to do that here.

The reality is that only 40 people make it to LA. The rest will be going home. You have better odds putting it all on black in Las Vegas.

      Hi everyone,
It is so great to hear everyone’s experience. I will share ours too. We auditioned in Chicago on Sunday. My daugher and her friend, both 12, do a harmonizing singing and dance act that they have been successful with in our state. We went just for the experience and with a lot of hope. The girls were spotted in line with colorful and matching outfits and were asked to come to the front of the shot when they did the big group promotional footage in the morning. After a wait we went into the audition room with 2 people and a camera. They did their 90 seconds and were then asked what else they had. They did 2 other songs and we were asked to wait outside and then the guy at the door told us we could leave. After leaving, getting in the car and after about 5 minutes of driving we got a call from the producer we auditioned for and he asked us to come back for a few questions. We came back and saw him again. He told the girls to give it the most enery they could. After another wait outside the door, we were asked back in to talk to the producer again. He told us he was sending us to the Executive procucers and he wanted the girls to be as dramatic and full of energy as possible. Before going into the Exec prod room they took the girls’ picture and verified our address. In the room, there were 6-8 people and a big camera. We were told the same thing everyone else was told. Sometime in January or February. I noticed that 2 of the people we saw coming out of the room were taken to be interviewed. They seemed to be the people with “stories”. We were thrilled with the whole day. It was fun and nerve racking. We were told that you have a chance to be cast even if you don’t see any other producer. This wait is a killer. I just have to keep reminding myself, just like the earlier poster said, God is in control. Thanks so much for this outlet of communication among auditioners!!

Did anyone try out for Dallas today? Our group got there at 4:45am and got #4 spot. yahoo we where out by 11am. We took videos, pictures and a our group got pulled a side before the auditions several times to do interviews. when we did the opening shout outs saying”welcome to Dallas or Dallas has talent” with Nick Cannon our group was asked to get in the front. We didn’t get called into another room and there wasn’t pictures being taken when we where done. One group went into a room at a time. We did have a camera in with us and they asked us a lot of questions. We are keeping hope that we do get that call back. AGT is going to be here on Sunday too so they could call us to come back tomorrow. If not we are still on TV opening pan out next to Nick Cannon who puts on his pants like the rest of us.

      #129 Michelle:
I didn’t see any postings from you on John’s L.A. Audition site(see John’s #130 posting for the address) where #128 Janet and I have posted. Here’s what happened to me on my audition day.
I was there on Sun. Jan. 24th. I got there a little before 7am. The line wasn’t as along as I thought it would be, and by 8am I had my number and wrist tag, and was through the doors submitting my paperwork. On the way up the escalator going to the “holding room”, I was stopped by a camera crew who ask me to come back down the escalator and do an interview spot for them. I think it was because I was wearing my “Black Stetson 10 Gallon Hat” and my leather USA(flag on the back)jacket carrying my guitar case. Anyway, I’m sure I probably made a fool of myself. Who knows. We’ll see if it turns up on the net somewhere. I was put in the “Singers with instruments” group, and after a short wait was sitting outside an audition room waiting to be called in to audition. When they called me in, I went in with four other singers. We stood up against the back wall and waited to be called up to the “X” in the middle of the floor to audition. After each one of us auditioned, we heard the same comment from the three people that heard us(a man and two women). They said “Very nice, thank you”. When we were all finished, they asked us wait outside the room. After about 15 minutes, one of the women came out carrying a clipboard they had all the need, and if we were were selected to move on, we would be notified, and that it could take as long as April to hear anything. By 12:30pm, I was finished with my audition. It went much faster than I thought it would. I was prepared to spend all day there. It was a great experience, and I met some real nice people while waiting for my audition, and there was a lot talent there. Now like everyone else, I’m waiting for the call. Good luck Michelle, and everyone else, and please e-mail me when you get your “Call Back”.

I just want to say that I can’t wait to audition in Orlando on the weekend of Valentine’s Day! So excited. I would like to hear more tips for singers from people who have already auditioned. It sounds like popular songs are favored over oldies?? What about Country vs. Rock genre? Thanks!!

    148. # Michelle commented on January 31st, 2010:

Yes, Darlene, I would like to hear about the different genre’s of music. Are people being asked to sing one song, two songs, etc. And, are they singing different genre’s?

    149. # John commented on January 31st, 2010:

I don’t know if they necessarily have a certain genre that matters. Although, they won’t want a whole slew of country (or other genre). They would want the show to be diverse I think. I think the key is to find a popular song that you can do as well or better than the original. Then, you’re a shoe in.

I auditioned in Dallas last Saturday; took exactly 8 hours from the time I arrived until I did my 90 second audition. I play the guitar and sing. We all waited outside the room and were called in one at a time to stand on the X. After I finished one guy said nice song, you’ll hear by March if you’re going on. Thanks for coming.
I know two people who were asked to do additional auditions in another room. I’m thinking if I didn’t get a second one that I won’t be hearing anything in March. That’s all right. I’m still performing at the Fort Worth Stock show and rodeo tomorrow night (Tuesday), so I’m okay. Oh, I met an 11 year old girl named Jessica Rose Harthcock; you’ll be seeing more of her in the years to come – awesome voice.

      adrian,
I don’t think the show even knows the answer to that. They just scheduled the Chicago auditions. I’m guessing they’re still scheduling the Orlando auditions.

This one’s mainly for Light Graffiti and Tom! I auditioned in Dallas on Saturday as well, I was number 889, which means I was there al the way up till like 8 at night! haha But it was very interesting & fun! I sang, and when I was with my group, after we all are sang, the judges said they enjoyed us all and to have a safe trip home and thanked us for waiting on such a long day, we were asked to leave the room and wait. Maybe about 1 or 2 minutes later a staff member came out and asked for a guy who was in my group to go back in because they needed some corrected information on his papers. The staff member then said we were able to go home and we will find out on a later date. The guy they called in was very good, so I wouldnt be suprised to see him on the show. Whatever happens, hopefully the best comes out of this for everyone! Do you have any websites Tom? I would love to hear your music! I play and sing but I dont perform, I post them on youtube!

    159. # Tom commented on February 1st, 2010:

Angel, thanks for asking, but no, I don’t have a website, sorry. My son-in-law is the reason I’m performing Tuesday night. He’s a very good country singer/songwriter and guitar player. Somebody canceled and he told them I could fill in for a couple of songs. I’m hoping the guy who’s interested in him will like my music also.
But, you never know what’s going to happen with America’s Got Talent. If nothing else it was a great experience. I was number 201 Angel; got there at 6:20 and left at 2:30. Good luck to everyone!

    166. # DarleneG commented on February 14th, 2010:

I auditioned in Orlando yesterday and it was freezing! Got there at 9 am and waited for 5 hours. Seems that the people who waited to show up later (after 3) got in faster and less waiting overall. Once inside I waited another 3 hours to get in front of the judges. There were only 2 and I was surprised at how young they were. One watched while the other one was doing something on a laptop. I didn’t see any cameras so I’m wondering if there was some sort of webcam? Anyway, there were 10 other people in the room w/me. We each sang & I noticed the judge said ‘good’ after each person and some weren’t so good so i think that was pretty generic. Anyway, that’s my story and i hope it went OK. Met a lot of nice people but was EXHAUSTED by the end.

    168. # John commented on February 15th, 2010:

      Linda,
I think it’s fair to say that if there were no cameras and they didn’t ask you for more information, that you’re unlikely to get a call back. I guess it’s possible, but seems unlikely to me.

    169. # Linda commented on February 15th, 2010:

There were no cameras for anyone not just myself. I do believe that everyone does get video taped otherwise they would have no way to review the contestants. They do have laptops available with webcams built in.

A big “howdy” from Dallas…. I auditioned in Dallas. I went there for the “experience” of it all.. to give it my best shot! to let it all hang out… to JUST HAVE FUN…and I did just that. Every minute was exciting (even the waiting) …to just think about WHERE YOU WERE..and why you were there…..simply the chance and possibility of showing the world your great talent and to tell your story!! I’ve enjoyed reading all your comments…Passions run high.. they are SUPPOSED TO in creative types like all of us! Remember guys and gals…we would not be entertainers if we were not passionate about life and living.. which also includes waiting with high expectations and a great deal of HOPE that we’ll get that call back!! We each have our own experience…one as interesting..and possibly as different! as the next… From what I obseverd…there were different audition processes for different kinds of acts..etc. I accompanied myself singing….and there were only two of us in our group…they extracted the two of us…set us aside..and took us to a totally different panel of judges… all the others went somewhere else. I think the process depends on many things… and all are probably different.. I made it through two panels of judges..then was sent to another area where my pic was taken.. and then waited for a rather lengthy sit down interview with one producer (won’t call her name). I was asked to sign more waivers…papers… saying to keep my hair the same..etc. those other things that some of you experienced.. etc. I was pretty excited the whole day as the judges seemed to be smiling a lot.. asking me lots of questions..to sing another song.. for both panels of judges… and both panels said at the end of my audition/interview (which both lasted quite a long time..8-10 min??) all looking around at each other (they seemed to all be communicating also with each other on laptops in front of them??) … “we LIKE you”… and would like to send you to the next panel/round/level…which I did.
NOW….I’ll tell you… I am 70 years YOUNG! .. play basketball on a women’s senior olympic team.. full of life..strong and fit… started my music career over at 51…write and record my own songs.. work every weekend of my life playing keyboards and singing.. have performed across the US.. etc. It’s never too late to live your dreams and fulfill your passions!!!
We must continue to set goals.. no matter what age!
I have a “story” ….because I’ve lived so long..haaaa and have experienced many wonderful things in my life.. and auditioning for America’s Got Talent was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done!!! If I get a call back.. I’ll be thrilled… If I don’t get a call back, then I’ll chalk it up to another wonderful experience for an old gal, 70 years old! By the way, I’ve played in two senior Olympics.. 2007..and 2009.. and Huntsman World Senior Games (gold medalist in free throw..3 point shooting…hot shot/around the world and team…65+ 3 on3) I’m not finished yet!!!
still kickin’….turnin’ over cow patties down here in TEXAS!!!!!

John..thanks for commenting. I think everyone on here is pretty passionate about their AGT experience… and it’s great to have a place to
express feelings about our common experience.
I am concerned about one thing.. It seems that the confidentiality agreement everyone was required to sign is pretty definite..that contestants are not supposed to actually “share” their audition (and hoopefully beyond) experiences…
So I’m wondering if when the call does come to some…that it’s time to zip it up!….to avoid doing anything that might jeopardize our “position” with the production company or AGT? I’ve known a couple of people who were finalists…and they absolutely REFUSED to tell much of anything.. during the waiting period.. any comments on this??
I’d love to share some other fun things.. but think I’d better hold them to myself right now… thanks for any comments from you..or others who have gone on further in the competition.. good luck to all!
so……….is anyone FREE to actualy SAY if they were called back? and any experiences they might have had???

I know some of you have been called back… but am just wondering how much you can say… or talk about after a certain point.

    179. # John commented on February 17th, 2010:

      optimistic granny,
It’s a very good question. I am not a contestant and I’ve never tried out. My only comment is that people who have auditioned need to stick to the commitments they made to the show. I don’t know what those commitments are, so each person will have to make that decision for themselves. As you said, I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, so I always encourage people to live by what they agreed to do with the show.

Of course, we love to hear people’s experiences, but none of us (including myself) want to see people get in trouble.

That’s my take. Plus, I like to add. Pure America’s Got Talent, myself and those associated with the site are independent of the show America’s Got Talent, Fremantle Media, NBC and we don’t make any claim to represent them or the show. This is purely a fan site, run by fans.

The New York page says this:
“Some acts have already been called with good news, but auditions are still being evalulated. All decisions will be made by mid-April.”

      Philidelphia says:
“We have begun making some “good new” calls, but many acts are still being evalulated. All decisions will be made by Mid-April.”

      Los Angeles:
“Auditions are still being evalulated, but some good news calls have already gone out. However all decisions could take as late as mid-April 2010″

      GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Ilze, I am sure you will be getting a call (keep me posted!!!

Me on the other hand, I only auditioned the one time and was not asked to go to any other rooms. I was not interviewed either. I did get to say New York’s Got Talent on cam for the group shot and also do a segment standing next to nick, and I know that I was the only ventriloquist there and performed with 2 puppets at once, but it all comes down to what they want for the show. Either way, I will still be performing what I love to do and If I don’t make it, then I will be auditioning again next year.

i remember you there mr. lucky

    187. # John commented on February 21st, 2010:

You are a brave man Mr. Lucky to be a ventriloquist trying out for America’s Got Talent. Terry Fator has set the bar so high that they’re going to have a pretty tough time putting other ventriloquists on the show.

Have you seen the Terry Fator DVD? You should order it and see what I mean. The guy is even better in his Las Vegas show than he was on America’s Got Talent.

    188. # Mr. Lucky commented on February 21st, 2010:

I know exactly what you mean. Terry performed 2 times at the resort where I am just before going to his theater. Several ventriloquist performed on AGT in the years proceeding Terry also but didn’t make it very far. But if every person thought that they had no shot because of the previous years winner, then no one would have a chance. The show puts out many talented singers, dancers, ventriloquists, magicians, etc… and everyone of us is taking a risk that we may or not be the caliber that they are looking for… but half of the excitement in doing it. Putting yourself to the ultimate test. Last year they put the gentlemen on who called himself a ventriloquist, and all he did was dance around the stage with a life size puppet and “imitate famous concerts”… and the other day I saw a link of a guy who was interviewed at the auditions as a “ventriloquist” ….. you will laugh if you watch this…. I can almost guarantee he will make it on the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPKegVXUkHg.
      This is hilarious!!!

    189. # John commented on February 21st, 2010:

      Mr. Lucky,
I’m not trying to discourage you at all. I just come from the audience perspective and almost everyone that sees the show is going to compare every ventriloquist to Terry Fator. Especially since the show will likely compare you to him as well. If you’ve got the goods then by all means go for it. In fact, last season there was a ventriloquist that I enjoyed as much as Terry in his few minute act. In fact, I think Piers comment to him was essentially that. He was good.

Plus, like you said, I’m good with anyone that wants to just go for the experience. Just as long as they have reasonable expectations so they’re not too disappointed if they don’t do well.

Thanks for the link to that video. I’m definitely going to post it. The guy is crazy for posting that video. If AGT sees that video he’ll likely be disqualified from competing I’d think. Although, I’m surprised we haven’t seen more videos like this before now with phones having video cameras now.

    190. # kelli commented on February 22nd, 2010:

I suppose that no matter how talented we are, we need to look at the fact that AGT is all about the “entertainment value” of an act. We could be an incredibly good singer, dancer, ventriliquist, etc… but if we don’t have an interesting story (such as being a chicken farmer that really can’t sing, but his story touches all of America… well, not ALL of America) we aren’t going to make it through.
I am grateful for the experience of trying out and actually having the balls to do it… many people won’t even take that first step. I have had the opportunity to sing the lead in a few musicals, have won some contests, and love to just entertain when I get the chance… and you know what? It makes me feel good and that is all that matters. I still hope for that call, yes… but if it doesn’t come, that’s OK, too. Good luck to all who auditioned… You are ALL in my thoughts. :-D

    191. # TMac commented on February 22nd, 2010:

I actually sent my video in, and AGT called me and scheduled a private audition. It all went very quickly, and when it was over he said. “ok the next step is auditioning in front of our celebrity judges, and you will receive a call back no later than mid march”. I did not get my picture taken, nor did I give an interview. SO after everything I have read, I assume it is safe to say that I didn’t make it. Do you think everyone that makes it to the judges round, has their picture taken at their first audition. My audition had a camera, and they had plenty of time with me center frame. So is there still a chance at all? There is so much speculation about what it means if they call you back in. But regardless, I would say if they didn’t ask for your airport, and take your picture, than you didn’t make it. But God I hope that isn’t always the case.

    192. # John commented on February 22nd, 2010:

      TMac,
If they got a video of you, they could capture any frame of the video that they want as your picture.

Man, it’s amazing how much people have been reading into the auditions this season. Maybe they’ve done it every season and this season my site’s just listed higher on Google so I’m getting more comments.

      Angela… I watched your video… Congratulations..
A singer sings “words”… an entertainer and true performer allows their passion to show throug the “story they tell”. Your passion shows! Keep up the good work… I’d like to hear you sing
I Want to Know What Love is…. I know you can show me… Wynona sang this with so much passion… and it’s a song that would really showcase your voice! Keep the music playing!!

Granny….listened to the song. Someone had recommended this to me before the 1st audition, but I didn’t know of Wynona’s version. OMGoodness. Awesome.

      Tmac,
I enjoyed your singing. Very well done.

    201. # Angela commented on March 10th, 2010:

So, this is my thinking, if you didn’t get through to the main producers the day of your audition, no chance of a call back. I think that the “callbacks” are reserved for those that they saw after the weeding out process. Just from doing some research. It’s all cool…..keeping the faith and I will keep doing what I do. PEACE! :)

I tried out in Atlanta Feb 20th. I was told after I sang that we would be contacted by mid-april if made it to the next round. Has anyone who tried out in Atlanta heard anything yet? =)

    203. # Florida commented on March 16th, 2010:

My daughter tried out in Atlanta and made it through to the producers. After the second audition we were asked for all of our contact information again and it was typed into a computer. We were also asked what was our closest airport. Then we were told they would call and let us know and if she made it to the next round she would have to go to Orlando. Well that show is April 7-8 and we have not heard anything yet. I am thinking now that she did not make it cause they said they were going to start calling two weeks after we left and we are going on four.

    204. # Tammy Hannah commented on March 17th, 2010:

Ya the waiting game is nerve wrecking lol, well she must have done something right if they took all that info. Well GOOD LUCK to your daughter. The guy who lined us up to get ready for our audition told me that anyone who would be called back that tried out in Atlanta would either be going to Orlando, New York or Chicago to audition in front of the celeb. judges. So maybe she will be heading to others instead of Orlando. New York dates are April 21, 22, 23 and Chicago dates are April 27, 28.

I believe Dallas callbacks are done. Two people I was hanging out with at the first Dallas audition got call backs and will be back in Dallas within the next week for the next round, but not at the convention center. I can’t say where. I promised those folks. AGT has very strict rules of silence and nondisclosure or your act will be disqualified.
So, I guess I’ll try a different approach next year.

    210. # Angel Yang commented on March 22nd, 2010:

I do believe thta the Dallas callbacks are done as well. I auditioned but didn’t hear anything back, which is okay by me. None of us have the power to make the producers let us move to the next round. All we can do it keep moving forward. I mean thats all we can do. :) So if you didn’t get the call you were expecting, don’t sweat it, there’s a crowd out there for you, you just haven’t met them yet, but hopefully you do :)

Well everyone, I can absolutely guarantee that Dallas callbacks are done. They’ve already filmed the next round in front of the celebrity judges. My friends did not make the next step, but they did perform in front of Pierce, Howie and Sharon. So, anyone still hoping for a Dallas callback, sorry; need to start planning for next year. Good luck and maybe I’ll see you there.

    221. # Annie commented on March 29th, 2010:

But I thought there is still a chance to be called to another city if you made it pretty far at the 1st round of auditions?

    222. # John commented on March 29th, 2010:

Good point Annie. They have been known to do that on a few occasions when they needed a certain type of act in the new city.

    223. # Annie commented on March 29th, 2010:

So if you were asked to be on stand by in one city, theres a chance they could call you to another city according to on3ofakind, so don’t give up hope…

    224. # Ashlee commented on March 29th, 2010:

      when exactly are Atlanta callbacks?

    225. # lisa p. commented on March 30th, 2010:

the nyc auditions are 3 weeks away,do i still have a chance of recieving a call, does anyone know how much in advance they make calls or if chances are slim for them to call within the next 3 weeks?

I was told beginning or mid April for call backs for Atlanta. I feel that I won’t be getting a call back, just a gut feeling but I hope my gut feeling is WRONG!!!!

I just read on AMG site that all the call backs from Atlanta have been made. So that means I didn’t make it to the next round cause I didn’t get a call. Well best of luck to anyone who got a call back.

    230. # Mr. Lucky commented on April 6th, 2010:

People have been saying they are getting calls and messages and no callback… that doesn”t surprise me… I would assume that those who do get the call backs will be sworn to secrecy. But my wonderment is in what cities these people are from and roughly when are they placing those calls? I have been watching what cities are done with calls (Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles cliam everyone is notified) and knowing that 3 cities remain for the celebrity taping with 4 cities still saying that people are yet to be notified wonder what sort of strategy do they use? one week out? a few days? With auditions, I got the email the week before saying I had an audition time.
Anyway, I am just curious. I have already decided that I will not be one of the people getting a call and have been planning my own summer performance schedule, but I do wonder how this end of it works as I am sure alot of other do to. Well, I was just pondering and wanted to post my question out there.

    231. # Annie commented on April 6th, 2010:

Yes I have heard of people getting a call a week ahead of time to ‘standby’, then no call the next week before going before the judges, so it leaves everyone hanging, it’s very frustrating!

    232. # Brittany commented on April 8th, 2010:

everyone keeps talking about all the major cities but what about the small cities? like for example i bleieve nbc came to fresno,ca for casting call for AGT..however i dont kow if anybody got a callback haha

    233. # John commented on April 8th, 2010:

      Hi Brittany,
I don’t remember Fresno, but it’s been a while since I looked. Either way, they ship acts into the bigger cities for a number of reasons. This is especially true if they only find a couple acts they want in a certain city.

    234. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 8th, 2010:

Just found out that NYC callbacks “have been completed for the most part”. Pretty bummed out… There is still a SLIGHT chance…Oh, well. Would be nice to know WHY I did not get chosen, but I guess they have their own agenda…

    235. # lisa p. commented on April 9th, 2010:

really ? Ilze Luneau, how did you find this out? i was just on the agtaudtions.com and it hasnt been updated since feb.
i guess all hope is gone,if this is true than i too am wondering why i wasnt called.

    236. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 9th, 2010:

emailed and got a response from one of the fremantlemedia.com ladies.

    237. # John commented on April 9th, 2010:

      Ilze,
I imagine when they say “for the most part” they meant that they sometimes bring acts into other cities to round out the talent base/variety of talent in other cities. For example, your basketball talent might be something they need in another city.

Of course, they also could decide that they have enough talent.

      lisa p.,
I wouldn’t start wondering why they called certain people and not others. It will drive you nuts and you’ll probably never get an answer. Although, I do appreciate the disappointment. I’ve entered different competitions and know the anticipation as you wait to hear.

    238. # kaY SEAMAYER commented on April 9th, 2010:

Ilze.. I’m interested to know about your basketball talent???

I too have a connection with basketball.

      good luck.

    239. # Mr. Lucky commented on April 9th, 2010:

You email and they answered? Well thats cool that they got back to you. I am actually curious who they have chosen for NY then. Well unless they photoshop me out, I should have a decent amount of face time on the open shots of the NY episode as they had me up front and next to Nick the entire time. I was hoping that their interest in having me in the shot every take would mean I was moving on but I guess not…. always next year.

    240. # Annie commented on April 9th, 2010:

Videos are still being submitted, they extended the entry for them til the 15th of April – do you think that if you got called for standby in one city, that your chances are still good to go to another?

    241. # John commented on April 9th, 2010:

The fact that they extended the deadline for video submissions seems to indicate that:
      1. They probably don’t have the kind of talent they want.
      2. They’re hoping to find better talent through the video submissions, but if they don’t then they’ll likely fall back to what they have.

      or…

Maybe they’re just gathering more talent for next year. Who really knows, I guess.

    242. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 11th, 2010:

hey… if you are interested to see what I do with basketballs, check http://www.basketballfamily.com. I dribble, juggle and spin multiple basketballs on a balance board and using other props. i am the only female performer in the world dribbling 6 basketballs at once (if anyone cares :) . God has a plan…

    243. # John commented on April 11th, 2010:

      Ilze,
I love your stuff. It’s really too bad that they don’t have you on the show. My only comment is that I can’t see your act being a full show in Las Vegas (or anywhere). It’s a GREAT half time show. I also think it’s an amazing talent, but I can’t see you filling 1-2 hours of entertainment.

However, I do think your act could work in something like the V the Ultimate Variety Show in Las Vegas: http://www.vtheshow.com/ If your kids could grow up a little more and add an extra cool element there, then it would be even more compelling.

      Best of luck!!

    244. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 12th, 2010:

actually, i DO perform an hour show, but it’s a Christian motivational presentation where I use the basketball tricks to attract and keep audience attention, but also give a message. Not sure that’s what Las Vegas would want, but definitely could use it :) . My beliefs also might be a reason I have not been chose to be on AGT< because I made them very clear in the audition. I just always thought the show was about having a unique talent, which I do, and not mainly about having a Las Vegas show. Thanks for the link, I will check it out. May God Bless you all.

    245. # John commented on April 12th, 2010:

Yeah, the show has kind of evolved and taken on the mantra of “a las vegas show” instead of just a unique talent. Not sure how it happened and if I even like that it happened, but it is what it is. That’s kind of the bar they’ve set for now anyway.

Best of luck to you too!

    246. # Mr. Lucky commented on April 15th, 2010:

I sent an email off to the production company a few days back and actually received a reply. They told me that “if I have not heard from them by now about a call back then chances are slim that I will”. I have also talked with several past performers from the show who have told me “they have drastically retooled the show this season and that they have been contacting performers from early seasons about returning to the show and not taking many acts from this years auditions”. So with this information I am pretty much giving up on this season. I am very dissappointed in how this all turned out. I am not upset about not moving on, but about how this all evolved. Peopkle getting calls and being strung along and then never called back, deadline extension that keep getting pushed further out, instead of taking from the live audtion pool who many of us traveled to and spent money we normally could not afford to spend…. Just dissappointed now that I know the reality behind the reality show.

    247. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 16th, 2010:

yes, I agree. i was called by 3 different people from AGT to come audition, got a set time to audition, did good, and got no callback. why would they be so insistent on me auditioning, then see exactly what they expected to see, and not call me back?!? does not make any sense… waste of time and energy.

    248. # l. polizzi commented on April 16th, 2010:

well the agt audtion site has been updated and now i know for sure i wont be called :(

    249. # Ilze Luneau commented on April 26th, 2010:

three days before the agt nyc auditions i was contacted to be a stanby in case someone else cannot make it. that’s as far as i got so far. Chicago is in tomorrow, last auditions for the first round in front of judges. I did get to go see the FREE taping in NYC on Wednesday. Cool, great seat right close to judges, but felt i belong on the stage…

    250. # Annie commented on April 28th, 2010:

Wonder if the ‘standby’s’ that were called may be the ones to get another chance??? They have tapes from the auditions, they got called to standby the city they auditioned in, wonder if America gets to choose those out of the audition tapes to go against the judges choice – it would make for interesting tv! Also Brian Friedman, choreographer to Brittany, was a judge on BGT, etc. is now the Creative Producer for AGT, wonder how they’ll change it up…

    251. # John commented on April 29th, 2010:

      Annie,
Where did you see that Brian Friedman is the Creative Producer? That’s really interesting. I’ve seen a lot of Brian’s work on SYTYCD.
