I haven’t had a chance to do a writeup about tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent where they finalized the America’s Got Talent top 40. However, just because I’m behind I didn’t see any reason that I should post the full list of America’s Got Talent 2009 top 40.

Pete Peterkin (impressionist)
Arcadian Broad (13 year old dancer)
AcroDunk (acrobatic basketball dunkers)
Platt Brothers (Pantomimers, dancers, and acrobats)
Recycled Percussion (percussion group)
David Johnson (Hasselhoff singer)
Thia Megia (14 year old singer)
G Force (dance band of young girls)
Erik & Rickie (8 year old dance couple)
Mosaic (a capella singers)
Texas Tenors (singing trio)
Manuela Horn (yodeling dominatrix)
The Fab Five (clogging sisters)
Drew Thomas (illusionist)
Hairo Torres (break dancing contortionist)
Lawrence Beamen (bass singer)

Jeffrey Ou (pianist)
Eleisha Miller (singer and pianist)
Mario & Jenny (chainsaw juggler)

Pam Martin and Viva (dancing dog)
Carol Lugo (62 year old dancer)
Charles DeWayne Dorsey (singer and pianist)
Pixie Mystere (preteen gymnastic troupe)
Grandma Lee (standup comic)
African High Flyers (acrobats)
Alizma (triplet violinists)
Anthony Morigerato & Matt Lucas (guitarist and tap dancer duo)
EriAm Sisters (trio of sisters)
BRI (singer and pianist)
Mia Boostrom (singer)

I think this will be a pretty interesting group of performances. I still think this is a bit of a down year for America’s Got Talent. I don’t see many (if any) real superstars in this list. However, it should still be quite entertaining and fun to hear their stories and see these people live their dreams.

John, I agree that it seems like a generally weak field this year. My early money is on Ishaara. Bear in mind that the winner is supposed to carry an entire Vegas show – something the novelty acts cannot do. Bollywood style entertainment has only recently hit the U.S. in a big way thanks to “Slumdog Millionaire” and for a lot of people it’s brand new and fresh. It’s colorful, involves dance, singing and theatrics – it’s the ideal Vegas package. To my knowledge there’s nothing like it right now. And you could watch 45 minutes to an hour’s worth no problem. With a little help from professional costumers, choreographers and a director, it would be golden. Jai ho!

    2. # John commented on July 29th, 2009:

Wow Gayle!! What a prediction. I personally just think it’s sad that Ishaara calls themselves bollywood. It’s some semblance of bollywood, but far from quality bollywood. Yes, it’s entertaining, but it’s a bit of a shame in my book to really label it as bollywood. That said, I love real bollywood and agree that it could do well in Las Vegas.

You should be clear about one thing. The winner only gets a one time show in Las Vegas. Then, depending on how well they do they might be considered for more (like Terry Fator).

I think the front runner from a fan base side is Kevin Skinner. Don’t ask me why, but he has some very devoted and passionate fans.

    3. # Tom commented on July 30th, 2009:

What the heck happened to the Beale Street Flippers????? Nothing mentioned during either vegas week episodes.

    4. # Pam commented on July 30th, 2009:

      Thanks for the list.

Most disappointing for me in the two shows from Las Vegas was the fact there weren’t more new performances. Since the judges knew they had too many singers, why not have sing offs? Pair similar singers and assign them an appropriate song, and let them earn their way.

Terry Fator was the bomb! I want to see more acts that aren’t singers or dancers. What’s wrong with two magicians? They would push each other to better performances.

Count me as one of the many who like the way some acts were summarily dismissed at the airport because the judges couldn’t look them in the eye and say no.

    5. # StevieCat commented on July 30th, 2009:

I cannot believe that the young boy who played that insane (and I mean it in a great way) blues guitar. Were they kidding us???? That kid was like the next Eddie Van Halan and they didn’t even consider him. They sent him home with the first group and didn’t give him a second chance. I was totally shocked by that. Does anyone else out there agree?

    6. # don wilson commented on July 30th, 2009:

i think we need new judges on this show, someone that has some talent themselves. they are putting through people with no talent while sending people with real talent home. are they stupid, stupid, stupid, in that order?

    7. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

      Tom,
I enjoyed the Beale Street Flippers. That one guy who did the back hand springs in a circle was Awesome to watch! However, at the end of the day for me they were just basically doing some relatively simple gymnastics no?

    8. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

      Pam,
I’m with you. I would have definitely liked to have seen more performances and less ridicule…err…decision making.

I’m not sure we can blame the judges on them getting sent home at the airport. I think it’s the producers who take the blame for that one. Just seems kind of ridiculous to fly them out there and then not have almost any of them perform.

    9. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

      StevieCat,
I’m sure they considered him. However, a second performance seems like it should have been given. Otherwise, like I said above, why have them go to Vegas. Only thing I can think is that maybe they did do performances, but just didn’t show them? At least that’s my hope for them. Probably wishful thinking.

    10. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

      don wilson,
I agree that we need fresh judges. I actually loved the combo of judges on Britain’s Got Talent. Piers does better than the Hoff playing the good judge. Simon’s a great bad judge. Sharon can’t be honest about a performance. She’s too nice (which I guess is kind of a back handed compliment).

Either way, the judges have been a disappointment this year. Far too scripted. Nick Cannon has been a welcome addition though. Often he’s more entertaining than the acts themselves.

    11. # Mark commented on July 30th, 2009:

I know this probably isn’t the right place to ask a question like this but i don’t know where else to turn.
Does anyone know the soft violin song that plays in episode 12 at around 12 min? If anyone can help me please let me know. Thank you.

    12. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

      Mark,
You came to the best place on the web to ask that question. I’m about to post the music from the last few episodes. Once I’ve posted it, you’ll find all the music listed: http://www.pureamericasgottalent.com/tag/agt-music/ You’ll have to look through the list of all the music, but should be able to find it without a problem.

    13. # StevieCat commented on July 30th, 2009:

Hey, Mark. Welcome to our blog. You’ve come to the absolute right place. John knows it all!!! :0)

      Welcome aboard.

    14. # StevieCat commented on July 30th, 2009:

re: the judges. Watch how many times the Hoff says “You’re what this show is all about.” He says it to anyone who comes on after a number of really bad acts were on. They should do a montage of him saying that over and over and over. I think that would be hilarious.

    15. # StevieCat commented on July 30th, 2009:

John, re: the guitar genius kid. I don’t think they did consider him or have him perform. He was sent home with the first group at the airport. Every year previous to this year ALL of the acts were to perform in this round. Last year, they made an exception and just sent a group of them home before they could perform a second time. This year, there was no performing, just the judges reviewing their tapes. With the exception, of course, of the 3 dance groups. It wasn’t fair this year. Why send them to Vegas just to decide who goes forward. It was just awful. They needed a chance to prove that they weren’t just a one trick pony. I remember in previous years, some were sent packing because even though they were good, they did the same sort of thing again and showed no diversity in their acts. Oh well, this seems to be the new rules. As long as Tony Ferrante went home, i can live with it! LOL

    16. # John commented on July 30th, 2009:

My wife says that too. I just wish it were true. Luckily Google makes me look good.

the beale street flippers? can anybody dig up info on why they werent on either top 40 show? i didnt even see them in the big groups at the airport

    18. # don wilson commented on July 30th, 2009:

more about the judges, what qualities does Peirs and Sharon have for being a judge? and i think [the Hoff] is as good a judge as he was an actor and singer. enough said.

    19. # Dan commented on July 30th, 2009:

I too want to know what happened to the Beale Street Flippers!! Why would the show put up their amazing heartfelt story and end the show with them and NOT have them anywhere in the top 40 shows??

They were my favorite act for sure!! If anyone finds out what happened to them, please let us all know.

    20. # StevieCat commented on July 30th, 2009:

Re: comments on the judges. I may be nuts, but I really like the judges. I don’t always agree with their criteria but I like them. I love Sharon Osborne and she is the genius behind Ozzie’s commercial success. Yes, Ozzie’s the talent, but she’s the promoter and his biggest fan. She’s his manager. I like Piers and Piers, I believe, is a journalist/critic over in the “olde” country, and I like his commentary. The Hoff??? Well, I just like what a goof he is and he can be very emotional. He’s the Paula Abdul of the group I think. But I like all 3 of them and I think their chemistry is right. remember the first year with that singer Brandy? She was unlikeable and she had the musical experience. then she got involved in a car accident that either killed somebody or somehting controvertial and she stepped off of the show. It greatly improved once Sharon stepped in. I love her accent and her commentary and her sweetness to the contestants. Brandy was mean at times and I didn’t think her career warranted her attitude. It’s a much better show with these 3 personalities. I look forward to this show coming back on year after year and from this point forward, the “judging” is now in our hands and we have the same qualifications….we know what we like and we’ll vote for it. That’s just my humble opinion. I’m sure some will disagree, but that’s fine. We’re all entitled to our own view. That’s what makes blogging fun.

    21. # Nate commented on July 31st, 2009:

Someone please tell me what happened to the Beale Street Flippers. Probably the most entertaining if not the best act on the show. A true Vegas performance.

      P.S. The judges completely suck!!!!!!

    22. # StevieCat commented on July 31st, 2009:

Nate, I too am wondering what went wrong….They were one of the (many) acts that Hasselhoff said “You’re what this show is all about”, so I wonder what happened.

Ever since the show added the “Vegas Performance” as part of the prize, good talented acts have been eliminated because the judges don’t feel they could sustain an hour long show.

Again, I point to the Harlem Globetrotters. That is an act that could sustain an hour or more show. They sell out Madison Square Garden in New York every single time they come, so why wouldn’t an acrobatic act do the same???? The Ed Sullivan Show (on tv about a hundred years ago!!) was 80% acts like these. I just don’t get it.

    23. # Jean commented on July 31st, 2009:

Are you nuts??? Ciana is premo, and the keyboard-playing, giggler you kept sucks! And what happened to the blues-guitar playing boy? He is a phenomenon. I am so disappointed in your choices, including the postal singers. They, too, were great. I may just stop watching your show when the obvious standouts are dismissed.

    24. # StevieCat commented on July 31st, 2009:

Dear Jean. This is not “Our Show” and “We” are not nuts. This is a blog you’re commenting on, not the network. You need to contact NBC.com. This website is merely a public blog and a review written by the show’s fans. Don’t blame us, call NBC. And stop yelling at us.

    25. # John G commented on July 31st, 2009:

The show has really taken a turn for the worse. I feel the producers have almost ruined one of my favorite shows. Why can’t we stick to the formula of being amazed at the talent (or lack of sometimes) that regular American’s have. Now we have to have all this drama and almost sadistic torture of the contestants. Why have people pack their bags, get dressed up in their performance outfits, just so you can send them right back home without even performing or even letting them enjoy Las Vegas. It just seems cruel.

And then the long drawn out decisions…it’s just such cheap TV and unnecessary. If they want to show us Kevin Skinner so we don’t forget America’s Susan Boyle, do a back ground clip of his small town roots. But don’t come up with some non-sense that they may kick off Kevin Skinner or Lawrence Beaman when that’s obviously fabricated drama. The constant dragging out the decision and trying to catch you off guard with “I’m going to give it to your straight…and I know you’ll do great things down the road but unfortunately I’ve got to tell you…….. ‘you made it’! This show should be positive and fun and we should be looking for those moments that surprise and excite us. Instead, now I just feel bad for the Lake Houston Performing Arts Center kids, Jay Mattioli (the best magician to watch in my opinion) and many others not because they didn’t win but because they’ve been mistreated by producers that want to fabricate emotional drama. It borders on torture to me. They really should be ashamed and while the judges may not be to blame, they certainly could take a stand.

    26. # Alicia commented on July 31st, 2009:

I’m putting my money on Mosaic. I caught their act last year at a fundraiser, and they are out-of-control talented! We’ve seen some strong talent this season (some of whom didn’t even make it to the Top 40 — bummer!), but I honestly think Mosaic is the most talented act this season. I was blown away when I saw them perform. Ridiculous, really. It’s a shame the show didn’t feature them more because America is in for a REAL surprise. I’m pulling for them and hope they do well.

    27. # StevieCat commented on July 31st, 2009:

I didn’t even know who Mosaic was so I YouTubed them. OMG!! They are incredible. Alicia, you are soooo right.

    28. # StevieCat commented on July 31st, 2009:

John G—–sad but true what you had to say. In ALL of the previous years these acts were able to perform in the Vegas round of the auditions. It was like getting a second audition. Otherwise, what do they mean when they tell the contestants “You’re going on to the next round.” I was really disappointed this year in the way they handled this part of the show. I wonder if this was Simon Cowell’s decision. I know he hates the audition portion of American Idol and since he is this show’s creator, I wonder if he had a large part in streamlining the Vegas process. Why bother with the Vegas end of it. Like you said, what’s the point in bringing them all out there if they aren’t going to perform. I don’t get it either. Sigh.

    29. # Alicia commented on July 31st, 2009:

StevieCat! I’m so glad you enjoyed them because I was blown away when I saw them perform! And I forgot to add that I talked to some of them for a bit after their performance. They were greeting people and taking photos, and I just couldn’t believe how funny, down-to-earth, and humble they were. Such nice guys. I really hope they aren’t hurt by not getting as much exposure on the show as some of the other acts. I’m on a personal mission to tell everyone I can to pay attention to them on the show.

    30. # John commented on July 31st, 2009:

      StevieCat,
You are crazy to say the judges are good. This season especially. Sharon and Hoff are useless. Piers could be good, but this season he seems to be far too “produced.” They never disagreed. They so rarely offered something useful.

You do make a good point about it being better than Brandy, but that’s not really saying too much.

    31. # StevieCat commented on August 1st, 2009:

      John,
Hold back a minute now….I am not “crazy”. To quote Simon Cowell, “It’s just my opinion.”

      geeze.

    32. # StevieCat commented on August 1st, 2009:

Don’t worry, Alicia, once they get up there and are permitted to do an entire song, they are going to blow everyone out of the water!!!! I’m hoping that it works to their advantage being under-exposed to the public. Nobody is going to be expecting them to do what they do. It’s so great to hear that they are so humble and friendly too. You’re right what in you’re doing…..SPREAD THE WORD to all the message boards.

      signed, the “crazy” StevieCat

    33. # John commented on August 1st, 2009:

      Sorry StevieCat. You did ask;-)

    34. # StevieCat commented on August 1st, 2009:

      huh?

    35. # John G commented on August 1st, 2009:

Week 6, Night 2 was more of the same with the trick decision ad nauseam. These were a few deliveries from the second night.

Piers: “I’m sorry guys, you’re going to have to leave Los Vegas……..because you’re going to LosAngeles.”

Piers: “I don’t want to prolong this any longer,…. I’m sorry but we’re going to have to see you in the quarter finals.”
Sharon: “You are talented and beautiful which is a goodcombination. However, I have to be brutally honest with you, I still think you have a long way to go with perfecting your act..(…girls squirm and beg) Girls…we’ve made our decision okay, …….our decision is you’re goingthrough to the next round.”
Piers: “Mia, you’ve been terrific to get this far…having said that it’s a very tough competition, I’m afraid you’re going to have to stay in the competition.”

And the choices really baffle me this time. How Jay Mattioli and Kari Callin (to name a few) don’t make it and yet the yodeling dominatrix does is beyond me.

    36. # John commented on August 1st, 2009:

      StevieCat,
Let me correct that one. You said you were crazy first. I just acknowledged it;-)

      John G,
I’m sure there has to be more to this story. I think the yodeling dominatrix was just to keep the variety. Although, I wasn’t impressed with Kari Callin at all. I’d rather see a yodeller than Kari. Jay Mattioli I’d need to see more of to judge.

    39. # Jean Mathews commented on August 4th, 2009:

The British judge (with the accent) is a jackass when it comes to giving advice to Arcadian Broad about giving up the piano. Dancers are a dime a dozen in entertainment, but Arcadian is a genuine artist on the piano. Only a non-musician would tell him not to pursue the piano anymore. Arcadian has my vote!!!

    40. # John commented on August 4th, 2009:

      Jean,
I’m with Piers. Arcadian is good on piano. He’s a star as a dancer.

and Piers didn’t say not to pursue piano. He said not to perform it on America’s Got Talent.

    41. # StevieCat commented on August 5th, 2009:

Jean, I’m with you. He played an AMAZING piano and he tied it into the act perfectly. Only having 120 seconds to perform didn’t give him enough time for Piers to “get it”, but had he had several more minutes, he would have gotten it. He was showing the classical side of him, like his parents were making him do it, and then the free spirit and the boy in him comes out and he leaves the classics behind and jumps into that dance that was expressing him. I was BLOWN AWAY by his piano playing. It was more than just “good”, it was advanced and superb and highly difficult. Piers was so wrong last night. VERY wrong. And, you know what? Had he NOT done something different, Piers would have said it was the same thing he saw last time. It was a “can’t win” situation.

How about that idiot dominatrix yodeler last night? What a waste to have put her in the top 40 and make someone else lose out on their chance for that spot. The judges got just what they deserved for that abomination. It was embarassing to watch it was so bad. The pancakes???? Oh, God!!!

And certainly not the dancing grandma or the sadomasochistic yodeler either.

    44. # triciardo commented on August 12th, 2009:

I can’t believe that Shraron and the Hoff sold out and picked an old dog over a singing talent like Dewayne and had tht audacity to sit up there and act like they were really convicted in their decision. Come on. Show some integrity!!!!

    45. # John commented on August 12th, 2009:

      triciardo,
Sharon and the Hoff have been useless all season and now they’ve proven that they aren’t useless. They can actually make some really really bad decisions. That was a joke.

Hi, Alana. Kevin made it through to the semi finals. He made the toop 40 and then performed in the first of these new rounds about 3 weeks ago and was voted through. Right now we’re in the quarter finals I believe, so then he’ll be in the semi finals. Go Kevin!!!!!

    55. # Doc commented on August 19th, 2009:

Didn’t you just love Sharon’s reasoning for voting the dog act through and not the singer last week?
You have to special if you sing…. but you can suck if you do something else…i.e.
I must have missed the first showing last week (Wednesday) of the guest appearance of that “rap” or is it “krap” group. Now, there’s real talent…hahaha

    56. # Doc commented on August 19th, 2009:

Sorry, meant to say “have to be special’

    57. # John commented on August 19th, 2009:

      Doc,
Dead on with that. She’s so full of it. I don’t really sweat over the decision since neither of them should have gone through. The sad part is that on tonight’s show a couple very deserving acts are going to be sent home and that dog act made it through last week. That’s just wrong.

    58. # StevieCat commented on August 19th, 2009:

I can’t comment on last night’s show. Went out for my birthday last night and so I haven’t had a chance to watch last night’s show yet, but I did DVR it. I’m going to watch it before the results show tonight and see if I agree with y’all. I probably will.

    59. # StevieCat commented on August 20th, 2009:

Oh, man so I saw the performance show and then watched the results show. I cannot believe that nobody voted for Bri, or that Ou got through when nobody heard him at all. It was unfair that the sound system failed and he deserved another chance to perform, but to finish first when he wasn’t heard at all is beginning to make me wonder what exactly is going on here.

It was a hard night. I was sad to see Bri go too. However, Ou should have stayed as well. It’s just dirty that the producers put all these really great acts on one night.

    61. # StevieCat commented on August 20th, 2009:

I agree with you. I just couldn’t believe that Bri didn’t wind up in the top 6. But then again, that just goes to your reasoning that there were too many good acts in this particular week’s show.

Is Bri the girl who tried out for American Idol and made it to the top 36? Or was that someone else. Man, if it was her, she must be thinking “where else do I have to go”

Another rotten thing was for them to have brought Bri and Ou up to the front together just to shock everyone when Ou got the spot. There she was smiling and the audience screaming her name and she therefore thinking she must have gotten it because Ou wasn’t even heard the night before. It was cruelty on the producers’ part all the way.

    62. # John commented on August 20th, 2009:

Nope. Bri wasn’t the American Idol one. Bri was the one who had made it to Las Vegas last year, but didn’t make the top 40.

I did not care for either one of them, but was very unhappy at Sharons reaction to the peoples vote. But also it pleases me when the voters see it different than the judges and the judges think all american is wrong.Do you think that gave them a clue? i doubt it.

    64. # StevieCat commented on August 20th, 2009:

John, I think you’re incorrect. That was Mia Boostram who made it part of the way last year but never got into the quarter finals. I’m sure of that.

What is the name of the song that Mattioli the magician used on his last performance? I have been trying to find that song for a long time……

    66. # StevieCat commented on August 23rd, 2009:

Kristine, just wait for John to post. He knows ALL the music on the show.

    67. # John commented on August 23rd, 2009:

      StevieCat,
If only it were true. They had been sending me the lists of music, but then they stopped for some reason. I’ll email them to see if they can get it for me again.

    68. # Kristine commented on August 25th, 2009:

I would really apprieciate it. Oh and to comment on americas got talent this year i think the Fab 5 and the Footwork Kings are really good :)

      sorry i meant FootworKINGz

    70. # Doc commented on September 3rd, 2009:

I think, whoever goes through, should be decided entirely by the public vote. Sharon was convincing about not being able to make a decision but the “Hoff” looked totally ridiculous in his attempt, and if the popular vote was so close, let Nick make that announcement.
I was very disappointed that the husband & wife balancing act went home. They would be more entertaining in Vegas than a dog act. IMO
There are so many great talents so far……..

    71. # Doc commented on September 3rd, 2009:

hahahah What did I do to make the word “husband” get a double underline?

    72. # John commented on September 3rd, 2009:

      Doc,
You’re so right. Sharon did a nice job. The other 2 totally muffed it up. Although, I don’t remember a dog act making it through did they? Not to the finals anyway.

    73. # John commented on September 3rd, 2009:

      Doc,
You didn’t do anything to double underline “husband.” Anything with a double underline is an ad on my site. I’m trying out a new text link ad service that does that.

For the past several years I, along with millions of other reasonably sane, bored out of their minds, Americans, chose to sit out the nessary six weeks in front of us and try to be entertained by the America’s Got Talent show..I must say there was alot of really good talent and an equal amount of really bad stuff (talent implies something other than the stuff we had to endure)..my heart went out to Piers and Sharon but did not find anything redemptive about Mr. Huffman (misspelled deliberately). I thought, as the weeks seemed to fly by, that the best was actually going to be recognized and rewarded, BUT I was wrong…I have just seen the last AGT’s I will propably ever see again… I could not believe my eyes or my ears when the announcer said that the country”s hick redneck was the better talent over so many others,…As I watched in the past few weeks this country bumpkin cry and behave like the ignorant slob he really is, I told myself that surely he would not make the final cut. When I heard that he made the top ten, again I thoght that it was just a ruse to get us out of our seats.. You win. I will never watch this show again and I can tell you that neither will I use the products that brought this sham intoi my home…oh yes…as an employee of New York I have at my disposal, thousands of people who will be buzzing about the sham of a show it turned out to be and I can assure you and your sponsers that we will not sit still for the crap you tried to shove down our throats.. So, I say goodnight and goodbye to David Hasselhoff, you should have worn a decent shirt and suit, shown a little respect for those of us who knew you when, and to what use to be a good show before someone cheated and rigged the outcome. You ultimately lose.

    75. # StevieCat commented on September 16th, 2009:

Wow, that was pretty nasty. Good riddance to you. Sounds like you should have quit watching ages ago.

    76. # John commented on September 16th, 2009:

      Sandra,
This is just a fan site, but thanks for sharing. I can’t say I completely agree with you, but this was definitely a down year for the show. The crazy thing is that the ratings for the show are still great, so I’m not sure the show cares too much. The Hoff was useless this season and so was Sharon actually.

      StevieCat,
I enjoyed the honesty in their message. I just think it’s interesting that they’d be so invested in the show to want to make the things they suggest.

    77. # StevieCat commented on September 17th, 2009:

Yes, you’re right John. I should have waited until I posted and not been so hasty in my response. Will try harder next time. I just thought it was ridiculous to stop using products you enjoy just because they are advertised on a show that disappointed you and then go on a mission to smear the show to everyone you know because you hated it so much this season. What’s the point in that. As Joyce Meyer says “Don’t let anyone steal your joy.” Here she was so enraged/outraged that she wanted to tell all of New York about it. It’s a TV show. Just tune out and say “ugh”. To continue on in such outrage only hurts herself while the producers and judges are still going on their happy ways not hurt or upset at all. All I’m saying is it’s not worth your time and effort and anger to go on and react like that when they clearly will never know and if they did, would never care. Just say “NEVER AGAIN will I watch this show” and have done with it. To continue and plan to spread the word is such a waste of her inner peace and time. I’m just sayin’….

    78. # Doc commented on September 17th, 2009:

      StevieCat,
I agree with you as to good riddance to Ms Sour Grapes.
It find it strange that for someone who has thousands of people at her disposal, she could be so bored. Also, if she had the means, she certainly wouldn’t come here to make threats.
Perhaps she should do her pouting by holding her breath until she turns blue.

When you look at the whole picture, and believe that the best act was chosen to appear in Vegas, it was a tough decision. Although very talented, I can’t picture an opera singer or gospel singers in a nightclub.
I’m sure all the true talent we saw over the past weeks will find a place in the entertainment industry

    79. # StevieCat commented on September 17th, 2009:

      Thanks, Doc. My sentiments exactly.

    80. # John commented on September 17th, 2009:

      Doc,
I’m not sure where you got the nightclub idea. The America’s Got Talent Las Vegas show is in a huge theater where they hold the Miss America Pageant. An opera singer would have been just fine. In fact, it will be interesting to see how Kevin Skinner fits into such a big setting. However, he’ll only be a small part of the show. Many of the other finalists will be in the show as well. At least if they do it the same as past years.

    81. # Doc commented on September 17th, 2009:

      John;
      See that…. Now I haven’t been paying attention…
I thought the prize was 1 million dollars and a chance to perform in a show at one of the nightspots. Then hopefully get a contract to stay in Vegas.
That being the case….. I stand corrected… Thanks

I’m still happy that Kevin won (I played bass in a country band in my younger days) as I’m partial to country music. (I do hope I’m not considered a crying, ignorant, country bumpkin slob because perhaps I showed some emotion at some time)

    82. # StevieCat commented on September 17th, 2009:

Hey, Doc. No worries…We women LOOOVE when a guy shows his sensitive side once in a while. It’s called having a heart.

I also thought it was going to be in a night club inside one of those huge hotels.

      Oh, I feel so enlightened!!!

    83. # John commented on September 17th, 2009:

      Doc,
I’m partial to country music as well. That’s why I don’t like Kevin Skinner…lol. I didn’t have a problem with the crying either. He held it in check a lot better than Neal E. Boyd did. Plus, I’m good for a little cry when the emotions are right (I blame my mother). Winning a contest from where Kevin came from is well worth a cry in my book.

Yep, it’s not a little show. It’s quite large in fact. It will be interesting to see how many tickets sale though. Luckily, Vegas does a pretty good job filling seats one way or another.

    84. # Dean Mann commented on August 2nd, 2010:

I have a question. What ever happened to last year’s winner, Kevin Skinner? I haven’t heard a thing of him since he won. Did he have a Vegas show? Is he recording?

How about Barbara Padilla? I thought she would win.

    85. # Nicki Nelson commented on August 2nd, 2010:

Dean, Kevin went on to complete the Vegas show along with the others in the top ten. He just a had 3 songs at the end of the show. The troupe also did a stint at Foxwoods casino in CT last Jan-Feb. His CD “Long Ride” was released March 17, it has all original songs on it. The single released from it is “Like its the Last Goodbye” and there is a music video you can find on http://www.cmt.com on Kevin’s artist page. Since Kevin released on his own label, Cypress Tree, the CD is getting no radio play. But Kevin has been playing concerts at fairs and mid-size venues, he opened for George Jones and will open for Charlie Daniels on 9/11. You can order his CD from his website http://www.kevinskinnertheofficialsite.com .

    86. # StevieCat commented on August 3rd, 2010:

Nicki, you sound like either a fan or a manager and in either case…Thank you sooooo much for the info on Kevin. I’m going to go watch his video right now.

Now, if we could just find out what happened to Eli Mattson!!! Any clues on that one, Nicki? Would be most appreciated!

    87. # Nicki Nelson commented on August 3rd, 2010:

I’m just a fan. Stop by http://www.mykevinskinner.com, lots more details there. Let me know what you think of his video!

As for Eli, I didn’t even watch the season he was on but judging by his website he’s got a career going:

      http://elimattson.com/

    88. # StevieCat commented on August 3rd, 2010:

Thanks, Nicki. Much appreciated. He came “this close” to winning that season but lost out to the “opera guy”. Geeze. He was so like-able and was like the ONLY one who didn’t hold up his fingers in the end to tell us what number to dial. LOL!! He had class and real promise. Then all of a sudden he just fell off the radar. In fact, that’s how I found this website, Pure America’s Got Talent. John posed the question “Whatever happened to Eli Mattson?” and I found it while googling the same question.

      Thanks for the web link.

    89. # Nicki Nelson commented on August 3rd, 2010:

I listened to some of Eli’s songs, he sounds great! Somewhere I read he was compared to Elton John but he reminds me of Harry Chapin. thanks!

    90. # StevieCat commented on August 3rd, 2010:

Nicki, I was going to send you the link to the YouTube video of Eli’s audition on AGT but our internet browser at work is no longer supported by YouTube and I couldn’t do a search for the link. I thought I’d wait until I got home tonight and then send it to you. But if you have time now, go to YouTube and search Eli Mattson AGT Walkin’ in Memphis. It was a magical moment. He brought the house down. Just the look in his eyes grabbed my heart right there and then.

    91. # Nicki Nelson commented on August 3rd, 2010:

Thanks, I can’t browse on youtube either but I used google to find some of his audition videos. Very nice. Looks like he had the same controversies as Kevin Skinner did! I like his voice. I see he’s from Wisconsin, that gives him an interesting accent and phrasing in his music.
