I’d been planning to cover more of Britain’s Got Talent and just haven’t had the time. After watching the following video of Susan Boyle shocking Simon Cowell and Piers with her rendition of I Dreamed a Dream
from Les Miserables, I think I might have to start making time. Check out the video of Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent to see what I mean:
UPDATE: BGT has had all of the videos taken down.
From a never been kissed, awkward 47 year old to a singer that Simon Cowell actually really enjoyed. That’s what Britain’s Got Talent is all about.

i seen mrs. susan boyles video, and i must say ,i was blown away, by her voice, there is no way, she can lose!!
I wouldn’t bet on Susan winning. The bookies stopped taking bets on Faryl Smith last year because she looked a dead cert to win. Instead she came in fourth, to a 14 year old break dancer who has achieved nothing since other than taking himself and his baseball cap to a few celebrity red carpets. A mediocre performance on the Royal Variety Show and a three week run in a minor West End musical being the sum total of his achievements. Susan might win because she is unique and the public like her. But if someone comes along who they think is more likeable, whether they are more talented or not, then their support will shift. Believe me, I know, I’m a Brit.
Nice commentary Michael. I agree with you. Although, Susan does seem to have a personality that people have fallen in love with. Since it’s just up to voting on the show, expect her to do really really well.
I am interested to know which bookies are putting up odds for Britain’s Got Talent. Or were you just speaking hypothetically?
No John, I’m not speaking hypothetically. In Britain bookies will give you odds on almost anything you wish to lay a bet on. Last year so much money was being laid on Faryl winning that the bookies refused to accept any more bets. In the final week she was the odds on favourite. The rest, as they say, is history .
Very interesting. I live in Las Vegas and have never seen these types of odds. I’ll have to look around, since it would be fun to post the odds for the various contestants.
In the UK William Hill, a major bookie chain have been accepting bets on Susan Boyle winning. They say that some punters are betting as much as a £1000 on her. The interest is unprecedented. At present the punters are getting good odds because there are several weeks to run yet. There are some good acts yet to be seen and I have a feeling that in spite of Susan’s popularity some people are going to lose their shirts. It only needs one pretty boy to reach the final and all of the teenies will be hammering the redial buttons on their mobiles like there is no tomorrow, just as they did last year and the bookies will be spending winter in the Bahamas.
Well, there’s a reason las vegas is as large as it is and it’s not because those who are placing the wagers are getting rich. This should be fun to watch.
