Kaitlyn Maher Before America’s Got Talent

Kaitlyn Maher is an extraordinary young lady. She is very accomplished having performed in over 100 concerts throughout the US. She was trained by some of the finest singers in the world in America’s elite musical institutions. Kaitlyn has put out a number of CDs and is one of radio’s favorite singers. She has 3 platinum albums that reached number one on the charts.

Oh wait…she’s only 4 years old.

Here’s her actual biography:

Kaitlyn Maher once received a gold star from her pre-school teacher for a picture that was hardly recognizable. Her mother couldn’t be happier, because Kaitlyn finally remembers to flush the toilet after using it. Kaitlyn once ate her whole dinner without her parents having to nag her once. Quite amazing if I do say so myself.

Kaitlyn has watched hundreds of hours of Disney videos where she would sing along to the likes of Ariel, Jasmine, and Nala (Simba’s girlfiend in Lion King in case you forgot). She could also be found honing her musical talents to Barney’s Sing Along (much to her father’s chagrin).

Kaitlyn Maher has spent many hours performing on stage (at least that’s what she calls the chair in her home) to a large audience of teddy bears and baby dolls.

Best of Luck Kaitlyn Maher and Congratulations on making it to the America’s Got Talent top 10!

Please don’t get me wrong, I think Kaitlyn is really cute but I don’t feel she should have gotten this far. There in not one song she has sang that I have been able to understand all the words, even when I replay I still have trouble. I think it was the second time she sang that that the last note was not good yet Sharon told her it was perfect-every time I listened to it it sounded like she was having trouble holding, but then who am I? I am just a person hearing the song. (Yes I sing in a choir) I feel there is a big chance people will vote her to win because she is four years old and you have made to much of a fuss. I also think the other young boy was just as talented as Kaitlyn and so did many other people I talked with.

      Sue,
So you’re saying that Kaitlyn doesn’t have very good enunciation, diction or other important technical aspects in her singing? I hope she gets her money back from Ariel, Jasmine, and Nala for not giving her proper training.

Honestly, I wonder if people like Kaitlyn, because it’s kind of cute to hear the funny words (or lack of words) that are created by a 4 year old. I agree however that Kaitlyn’s last notes have all felt a bit off for me.

As far as David Militiello, his talent was right there with Kaitlyn and at least he could respond to questions that were being asked of him. Too bad his responses were more talented than his singing.

I think it’s crazy having this child on this talent show, so she is cute ok , 4 year olds are cute. Nobody in their right mind will go and pay money to see this little girl sing her little songs, and Ive heard her compared to Shirley Temple people please, there,s no contest.

I like her, I think she is great. But there are several problems I have for her being on. That is a huge amount of pressure for such a little girl. I even think that is a lot of pressure for someone whose into their twenties, thirties and more. But I don’t think someone of that age should have to handle it.

Maybe your child is incredibly talented. That’s wonderful. Help them develop their skill and enjoy it. When they are older, and more able to cope with loss or even fame. I’m not saying I’m one of those people who thinks all sides should win at a baseball game at school. Because I think losing is a part of life, an important part of life. That being said, America’s Got Talent is much more than just a sporting event with twenty plus parents watching.

Maybe I’m wrong, because young kids are resilient. Still even if she takes it as deeply as losing a board game, I just don’t feel right having her up there. And I don’t think a Vegas performance is the best thing for a girl of that age though I honestly don’t think she’ll make it.

Still, I have to say she is a talented little girl. And I wish her all the best. I just hope that as she ages that there are responsible people who help her along the way to make good healthy choices.

Donald is the most talented of all. Eli is hard to understand otherwise he’s good. What’s with the hat? I’m distracted by it. Donald has a beautiful voice a well as control. He can also contol his emotions! He has studied at Julliard as well as with the best opera coaches abroad. He truly is Americas Most Talented.

I’d pay to hear her sing and I’d buy a CD when she puts one out! For such a little girl, she hasn’t cried once, with Pierces comment… when asked a question by Sharon to say “Hi” to her daughter Kelly… she responded correctly…. All the other singers have cried on stage… told their poor stories, and stories of how people made fun of them… yada yada yada! That little four year old has stood there professionally, not forgotten any words — as some adults do on American Idol… and she has caught the hearts of America! If it was all about cute, the other boy would be there… it’s the magic she has… she says that God gave her this gift! She sings and people weep… amazing… Only other singer that did that to me was Pavoratti…. that little bit of a bird, standing on the huge stage, on her mark and sings…. and in the top 10… Way to go Kaitlyn… She’s going to win! She has an innocense… the little bird! And when the announcer said, if he goes to heaven he knows that all the angels will look like her… she smiled with understanding… she has a magic… and She’ll Win!

I was saddened to read that article in the Enquirer that Kaitlyn Maher is actually a 16-year old who has suffered her whole life from Munchkins By Proxy Syndrome (MBPS), a rare genetic condition that never allows the body to mature much beyond infancy. Although we’ve all been duped by the show’s producers, at least if we vote for her and she wins the big contract in Las Vegas, she be able to go on stage and sing her heart out as a 4-year old for decades to come. Go Kaitlyn!! I intend to keep voting her for the winner’s spot.

      Song-Bird,
That made me laugh so hard. Made me think of the Chinese athletes being under age too. It’s nice that a 16 year old has been given such a great opportunity.

    9. # Linda Mae commented on September 17th, 2008:

I know Kaitlyn and her family personally. I sat in the audience with the family last week and will tomorrow as well. I think what many miss is the joy she brings to MANY people. It was never a thought she would win the #1 spot. Many people complain that some more talented than her went home. Irrelevant, because there will be only one winner, no runner-ups and we all know the Best 4 or 5 since the beginning are at the top of this list. Just enjoy her. Her family are 100% Christian and Kaitlyn believes God is using her to make people who are sad or sick,- happy and well. that is the 1000′s of letters she receives say. And by the way, there are no televisions in her home she has never watched TV or movies. Her father plays the piano and she learned the songs that way. She also reads as well as a fifth grader.

    11. # Linda Mae commented on September 18th, 2008:

Matthew, Kaitlyn was very sick this week with a very bad cold and had lost her voice right up until just before the show. She was still excited about singing for everyone and did a great job even with the larygitis

    12. # John commented on September 18th, 2008:

      Linda Mae,
Thanks for letting us in on that insight. Nice to have someone who can tell us the inside story. Kaitlyn is a wonderful little girl that has a great ability. I have a 4 year old and so it’s fun to imagine my son doing what Kaitlyn is doing. Shows how remarkable what’s she’s done really is.

If you can please send her our best wishes that she’ll feel better soon.

      Thanks

    14. # Rachel W. commented on September 26th, 2008:

Yes, she makes people smile and yes she is innocent. The fact of the matter is though, she is up there because people think she is cute. This is supposed to be a professional show, with serious singers and performers. Too much stardom at a young age can seriously damage people. Or don’t you remember sweet little Jaimee Foxworth from Family Matters, sweet child actor turned X-rated movie star? We need to get away from awwing at her, sit down and really think about whether she is right for the show. If she is beating out other performers now, really, what is to stop the audience from awwing her cuteness and voting her into the #1 spot? And how do you think she will take losing at her age? She never should have made it this far, and her parents should be thinking about their daughter’s well-being instead of parading her in front of millions of people.

    15. # John commented on September 26th, 2008:

      Rachel,
I have some great news for you. Kaitlyn got booted off the show and is back doing 4 year old things.

    16. # Rachel W. commented on October 5th, 2008:

Thanks John. Cable is too expensive and so I don’t have T.V. right now, lol, so I was kind of behind on things.

    17. # Shelly commented on November 10th, 2008:

Kaitlyn is adorable and for her age she does a wonderful job. I have seen all of the shows, she seems to enjoy it and I do not feel that she is being harmed by the experience at all. Her talent for her age is way above normal. Go Kaitlyn! You have my vote!
