Since I’ve been getting hundreds of people visiting this website to see Jessica Price, I decided that I better post Jessica Price’s video from tonights top 20 performance to the song “Bubbly” – Colbie Calait Colbie Caillat - Coco - Bubbly

I personally disagree with Piers that Jessica’s performance was a bit cheesy. It wasn’t really cheesy at all. Plus, if that was a song for selling toothpaste, then I’d buy that toothpaste.

I’ll admit that I didn’t think that this was Jessica’s performance, but her voice was still brilliant. I’m not sure the song choice was the best either, but she did it well. Plus, I was just happy to see Jessica perform again. I agree that I think she could be so much more, but my guess it is more about the person who is “coaching” her than it is all Jessica’s fault. On other reality shows I’ve seen the difference the right mentor can have on a singer and Jessica just needs the right mentor.

Also, I think it was totally lame that Sharon accidentally hit her X at the beginning of Jessica’s performance. Totally messed up and not even an apology!

On America’s Got Talent, Piers is by far the best judge: honest when necessary, stingy with praise, but gives abundant praise and encouragement when deserved. (On Britain’s Got Talent, his colleagues Amanda and Simon are also very good judges.) However, after telling Jessica Price to lighten up and smile more after her top-40 performance, and then she performed a top-20 song that was happy and bouncy, with a great voice and smile, he buzzed her at the end of it! His critical comments of her performance might be honest, but I don’t think she deserved the buzzer. She chose a light-hearted song and performed it exactly as she should have. I actually loved the non-word be-bop melody she sang at the end over the backing vocals. I hope she gets through and gets another shot. She and Eli are my favorites, although Queen Emily was also very good.

I wish the sound mixer at the theater would dial down the background tracks. It was hard to really hear Neal Boyd’s voice, and others’ vocals were similarly drowned out, I thought. I would much rather hear just the performer. Eli did it right – no background tracks at all.

In case Jessica, Eli, or other contestants read this, and for all interested fans, if you want to see some good performances in competition, go on youtube and watch some of 2008 Britain’s Got Talent. Young performers Faryl Smith and Andrew Johnston were amazing – audition, semi-final and final. Most of the top-8 acts in the final show were fabulous. Piers, Amanda and Simon had lots of insightful comments all season.

Also, In AGT last season, Butterscotch was really impressive. I think “Funny Valentine” at the piano was my favorite.

Having a personal interest in jessica, Sharon’s buzzer made me all nervous for her, but I was glad it didn’t seem to affect her. OF course she didn’t even react to Piers buzzing her.

I generally, agree with him, but I don’t’ think she deserved the buzzer either. But the song choice was not a good choice.
